Few names have become as instantly recognizable or iconic as Jenna Ortega. The 21-year-old actress began her career on the Disney Channel show Stuck in the Middle, which ran for a few short years. Ortega continued acting in films before starring in her breakout role in Ti West’s (2022). This horror film solidified Ortega’s status as the new “Scream Queen,” with Ortega quickly finding success in other horror-related properties such as Netflix’s Wednesday and the iconic Scream franchise.

Ortega starred in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), both of which were major successes for the franchise. These two films combined brightly and made over $300 million at the box office, indicating more sequels were on the way.

Unfortunately, the Scream franchise has hit a major speed bump, one that may prove too damaging for it to continue.

Melissa Barrera, another lead for this new wave of Scream movies, was abruptly fired from Scream VII earlier this week by Spyglass Media Group, the production company behind the series. The decision to fire Berrera stemmed from her “antisemitic” remarks regarding the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Spyglass issued a statement reading, “[Our] stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

As a result, Ortega also dropped from the upcoming Scream VII, meaning the film lost its two main leads. However, Ortega may have found her next big role, and it involves vampires.

As reported by DiscussingFilm on X (Twitter), Jenna Ortega is a top choice for a proposed remake of the Twilight series of films. While most casting and film rumors are spread by fans, this one comes from the director of the original Twighligh (2008) movie itself, Catherine Hardwicke.

Hardwicke has chosen Ortega to portray Bella, who was played by Kristen Stweart, with Jacob Elordi taking over Robert Pattinson’s iconic Edward. While this film is not officially announced, we have to admit we love this casting.

We can totally see Ortega as Bella, and Jacob Elordi makes a great Edward. Elordi is another huge name in Hollywood, with his breakout performance in HBO’s Euphoria sending him on an incredible path. Elordi also starred in this year’s Priscilla and Saltburn. While no remake has been officially announced, in this day and age, anything is possible. The Twilight series was incredibly successful, both in terms of fan reaction and box office performance. The Twilight Saga grossed a total of $3.4 billion.

The Walt Disney Company has gone all-in on remaking each one of its most iconic films, with a remake of the iconic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) on the way in 2025. This remake stars Rachel Zegler, who has made quite a name for herself in recent years, both in terms of her excellent work as an actress as well as the comments she has made while on the red carpet.

Would you like to see a remake of Twilight? Who do you want to play, Bella and Edward?
