In a new report, the House of Mouse has admitted to losing millions (possibly billions) of dollars at the box office due to too much “woke” content and also losing money to the ongoing feud between Disney World and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Disney Takes Heavy Hit Because of Ongoing Feud With DeSantis

First, the Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney World Resort specifically, is taking hit after hit from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after a political feud and legal battle that started earlier this year. In short, the company took a political stance. DeSantis thought that wasn’t okay since Disney is a public company where millions of Americans and foreign guests with different political perspectives visit.

Disney is attempting to strip DeSantis of his Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), which used to be Reedy Creek. The Florida governor took over Disney World’s governing district earlier this year, leading to an ongoing battle between the House of Mouse and DeSantis. In just a few weeks, a United States District Judge will hear DeSantis and the CFTOD’s attempt at why their lawsuits should be dismissed.

Florida State Senator Linda Stewart is attempting to give Disney its control back of the governing district, which is part of an attempt at revisiting the legal matters that gave DeSantis power in the first place. The legal issue here is whether or not DeSantis’s takeover was justified or even lawful in Florida.

But in terms of the “woke” content Disney has been allegedly distributing at the box office and on its streaming platform, the company is appearing to be learning from its mistakes and admitting to the matter of political and agenda-type content.

The House of Mouse Admitting to ‘Woke’ Content?

Is Disney admitting to releasing “woke” content and admitting to losing millions of dollars at the box office because of this? According to an article from Tampa Free Press, it would appear that is the case. It’s no surprise or news that Disney has had flop after flop at the global box office and on its streaming platform, Disney+. The latest film to bomb was Wish (2023), released this month and did not perform to the levels Disney thought it would. Furthermore, the reviews have not been kind to the movie, with critics and moviegoers indicating that “recycled woke trash” like this should not be viewed at the cinema, let alone at home.

Political agendas aside, the numbers speak the truth, and the reality here is that even over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, Wish only generated $31.6 million over the five-day period, which is way lower than box office analysts predicted, somewhere between $45 and $55 million.

In the article from Tampa Free Press, Disney is taking a “social goals” approach that costs the company billions of dollars. Each of their animated films has an LGBTQ+ agenda, and each of those new films has tanked big time at the global box office, with a few boycotts even surfacing in different countries around the globe.

With the ongoing feud between WDW and Ron DeSantis and Disney continuing to pump out “woke” content, it will be only a matter of time before things are reversed. When appealing to a select group or demographic, and that demographic is not even close to the overall general populace, people start to pay attention and decide what is best for them. When a significant corporation attempts to fix things for the average American family, the family fights back.

With box office bombs left and right and DeSantis continuing to come after the House of Mouse, it will only be a matter of time before Disney approaches the plate and attempts to mend what is broken.

For now, a hearing date is set for DeSantis and his CFTOD board to get their lawsuits dismissed. Disney has a few more films coming out this year, with dozens more well on the way in 2024. What will the outcome be for the hearing on December 12? Will Disney drop its social agenda and goals and attempt to create original, non-politically-correct content at the box office and streaming platform? Can any of this be reversed?
