Did you and your family grow up in Florida prior to 1969? If not the reason you and many others are in Florida is due to Disney. A large part of Florida’s economy over the past 50 years is due to Disney’s presence. They were the draw from other companies, snowbirds, & relocating people.
Agreed. Although I don’t want them to leave. I want them to close down. Let a real family friendly company take over. Someone with a basic moral compass would be lovely.
My oldest is 13 and this is the first year we have considered paying her to watch her 2 other siblings for me and my husband to go have a meal while on vacation. We have hired kids nite out 2 or 3 times in the past but when the last time cost us $400 we just couldn’t excuse the expense anymore. Having said all that we rent a vacation home in a gated community. Idk if I would do it with a hotel room. The space is small and anyone with multiple kids know that’s a recipe for arguing and fighting. We also wouldn’t go anywhere we couldn’t leave quickly from (like a theme park…) or somewhere we might not notice our phone ringing. We also bring a security camera with us. I think it can be done safely if your kid(s) are old enough but leaving a small child in a hotel room by themselves is just unintelligent
Absolutely heartbreaking!
I can’t imagine (when I go to DL with my fiancé) that my BIL would do this to my niece and nephew.
And I humbly agree that parents who do this with Zero regard or proper planning should NOT be dragging their children to be left alone at these parks! It’s Cruel to them.
Lotta people should NOT have kids! I can’t even imagine the truama kids go through being left alone like that. WHAT is wrong with parents nowadays? If you don’t want to share your life with your children DO NOT HAVE THEM!
Latch key kid here “82.” I think not leaving kids alone sometimes hurts them more. They need to learn to be independent. Everyone after the Millennial generation scares me. These youth literally can’t order food at a restaurant without looking at their parent for confirmation on what they like.
I have definitely left my kids in a WDW hotel or other hotel to go get breakfast and coffee at the front desk/restaurant. However, it was never for very long and they were at least 6-8 yrs old. Usually my husband and I would take turns going, but sometimes we went together when they were older. Of course, we were picking up food to take back to the room, not sitting down to eat in the restaurant. Some kids are spoiled and then grow up to be spoiled adults.
Please parents, I understand the need to have some time to yourselves, but hire help, a theme park nanny like me or through a nanny agency that will take great care of the kids whether at a hotel, theme park, etc so everyone can have a fun and safe time.
I never left my child alone when she was little. She’s 15 now, so we do occasionally let her stay in the room if she doesn’t want to join us. Even then, she has her phone and can reach us at anytime. We only started that when she was nearly 14, though.
I worked at Disney World when it opened in 1971, and parents used to ‘lose’ their kids in the Magic Kingdom and then go to missing kids at the end of the day to ‘find’ them. Especially small kids who couldn’t talk and tell you their names.
I would never leave any child alone anywhere in,near,or around anything Disney. I know for a fact they do not vet their guests. All sex offender not to mention predators have right on their driver’s license that they are registered. Either they do not look or they do not care.

Bad parenting

So you’re saying Disney attracts trash? I totally agree. So now will Disney leave Florida?
Native Floridians sure hope so.
