Disney needs to stop with trying to take classics and remake them to reflect the woke agenda. How about making totally new and original story’s that are more reflective of today’s culture and feelings.

    1. Christine

what’s so wrong about them recreating their best stories to reflect what society has learned? being woke is not a bad thing, and the originals aren’t going anywhere.

      1. Mel

What lesson do you think Society has learned that needs to reflected in a disney classic remake

      2. Kat

They go against the original stories to the point that they are brand new.
I agree that Disney should make brand new content if they want to be inclusive, as the original stories are what people love.

      3. Go woke go broke.

      4. Chris Cornwell

People need to stop crying about remakes. Ever since the bashing of Halle Bailey being cast as Ariel (who was fantastic), it has really gotten old. Get over it!!!!

        1. Alexis Texas

Not really. She was boring. Original was better. Alot of if great actresses got screwed over.

People would get mad if they made Princess Tiana white ..

      5. Ericsun

Because the old stories have archetypical symbols. The encounters with inner shadow. The fact that the prince is actually the masculine part within snow white to fight off a villain. And yes women can have masculine traits and this story carries that message. But it also carries the power in being caring and the strength in having a nurturing side, not just for women but for men. The warnings against narcissism, which the witch represents. A lack of self reflection can lead one to become a villain but see oneself as a victim. There are deeper allegories and messages in those ancient stories than the surface layer interpretation of a woman being rescued by a man. That interpretation is shallow and cliched for a reason. Back then philosophy and suffocated story telling didn’t exist, but we told stories of challenges in life, supernatural. And its complexity was encrypted in its mythos. There is also traditions of the country from which they come from, Germany. If anyone does woke agenda to my native American folk tales, Id be feeling just as upset. Because people fail to really dive into the deeper subconscious meanings of these old stories.

If you want a woke agenda and cultural movies. Go for it. That’s cool. But make your own stories with those messages. Trust me human beings are infinitely imaginative and creative enough to make many stories. Just don’t repackage something because it feels forced, people are already feeling it and it feels like propaganda.

There are some things that we have learned as a society that are good, but being woke is something else entirely and is unnecessary. Being woke is trying to appease to everyone, or more specifically groups who claim to be victims but in reality not so much. We should leave old things alone and if we have something to say that keeps up with the times, then make up a new story rather than ruin the great old stuff.

      7. Wayne

Yes woke is a bad thing os a virus that needs to be stomped out

      8. Steve

So many things are wrong about remakes. Walt would never have done them and Disney needs to be run by asking “What would Walt do?” It was run by that question for decades after his death and will again after I take over and make it great again. Kids needs to learn to have the exact tastes as their parents and be clones. Being woke IS bad. Walt was not woke. In fact he gave the names his woke employees to the HUAC and got them blacklisted as communists they were. Disney actually is trying to hide the originals and when I take over, the originals will be re-released in theaters like they used to be.

        Woke is dumb

      10. Your wrong Christine. Woke is not good. It’s foolishness. Leave the classics alone!

      11. Gavin

Being woke is a disease of society

      12. BC

Because what “society has learned” is laughable virtue signaling that will be a period of embarrassment when posterity reflects on this period American culture. Oh an no one actually goes to see “woke at any cost” crap recreations.

      13. KD

        Learned😂

      14. Buk lau

Yes it is a bad thing look at the state of the world.. Bunch of pussies with no backbone whatsoever.

      15. James

It’s not that they are recreating them, it’s how they are recreating them. Lion King Mulan and Aladdin while pretty good, just didn’t have the magic behind them that the originals do. Little Mermaid and by the sounds of it Snow White are trying to show that they are ‘Woke’ when really they don’t need to and it just takes away from the story itself. Cruella Cinderella and Maleficent were the best ones to me.

      16. Mfalme

        Being “woke” is great compared
to being “sleep”, which alot of people prefer.

      17. It also doesn’t make any sense for Disney to take an actor off a film because they don’t like the original.

      18. Ginger

Being woke isn’t a BAD thing??!! What planet are you from? Ask Disney share holders and financial officers what this WOKE crap is doing to their company?

      19. Kris

I am really looking forward to a red haired Tiana in the Princess and the Frog.

        1. Alexis Texas

Agreed. Oh and they better make Eliza a blonde in the new live action gargoyles show.

      20. Sharon

You are ignorant these are original stories written for there time and should stand. If you want write you own stupid woke story.

      21. WGR

A lot. Basically Disney is saying we latinos are not worth their time to come up with a new character. Instead they just race swap. That is the message. Instead of creating a new character they took the lazy way out and say “meh they aren’t worth out time”

      22. Alexia Texas

Because the classics keep getting ruined.

      23. Alexis Texas

Because the classics keep getting ruined.

      24. Alexander

*If* they have the ability to improve on the story, go ahead. They have utterly failed to do that. There are huge volumes of original material they could use. They vandalize a classic story & if we(the audience) don’t like it it’s our problem.

Formula is take a popular picture from Disney’s golden age(with built in fan base) and A) convert into live action with CGI special effects B) swap the ethnicity/sexual orientation/gender of the characters into intersectional feminist icons(minimizing the talent pool of actors available to represent the characters) & C) insult your audience as bigots, if you fail to profit by said activity.

As of 2023 Disney’s market capitalization is reflecting that audiences don’t like it. Given all the massive IP’s they have acquired they should have grown by an order of magnitude, not contracted.

Reflecting what society has learned? How are you so sure they have learned the right lessons? I’m not sure of that. One lesson seems to be: Deceiving people to try and represent a reality that doesn’t exist, because it’s a means to creating a reality that you want..is justified.

If Disney’s legacy content was in the hands of people who were dedicated to reflecting Walt’s vision, this would be fine. We *know* Walt Disney didn’t want this done to his movies, because he didn’t create the cinematic equivalent of a botched abortion every couple years.

If someone want’s to their take on Disney or someone else’s work let them, but that’s all it is.

      25. Jaron

Except it IS! Being Woke means you are self proclaimed “progressive” when you are merely mentally ill and virtue signaling. Go woke go broke.

      26. Shannon

But to change an entire original storyline? Why not make a new movie? It is completely different. Being woke doesn’t mean always being right.

      27. EVA

For respect on values that others learned from their childhood stories. Leave old movies as they were, create new stories to reflect today’s society. And what’s wrong with woke agenda?! A LOT!!!!

      28. Your name

It’s not what society has learned. It’s about pushing far left narratives. If you want to do that, just make a new movie entirely.

    2. Brittany

Idk Jenny Ortega fits the part better. Disney needs to just create new princesses instead of redoing the classics for today’s narrative.

    3. Bon

      I agree

    4. Shawn

I totally agree with this. I would love to take my daughters to see movies that are inclusive and reflect all cultures, but the stories need to make sense to the time and area to which it is taking place. Encanto, Coco, and Aladin are all amazing movies that are inclusive with many cultures and are some of my daughters favorites of all time. If you are going to change a story to fit your agenda then you need to be prepared for parents to speak with their wallets.

    5. Emily

Have you read the original Snow White? It’s wildly different than the animated Disney film.

    6. Sandi

I agree with another poster – Don’t reimagine stories/movies that have already become classics. Create new stories to reflect views of today. New classics for today’s generations.

Sag Aftra is on strike. If reshoots were currently happening, Jenna Ortega would be blacklisted from the Union and wouldn’t be able to work. That also includes negotiations. Please make sure you have facts or you may be ruining a career.

    1. Anti-sag

We the people, and consumers hate SAG-Aftra. You guys are the problem, shame on you.

      1. Carolyn

Shame on you. It’s their job loser.

    2. Valorie

This website lies all of the time.

    3. Mech

I agree! While you are on strike or negotiations, this reshoot should not be going on!

I am pro labor and dropped Dru B from any of my shows to watch. I am tires of people not supporting unions!

    4. Mephisto

      Your retarded.

  3. Cheryl C

I don’t think it’s true, but I do hope it’s true. I have no love for Rachel Zegler. She just comes across as a brat that thinks she’s Meryl Streep. Jenna Ortega always comes across as a sweetheart and is a wonderful actress.

  4. Carolyn

Just as worst. Don’t even do the remake. Make new movies lazy privilege workers.

  5. Bastian

Why can’t Disney hire an actual WHITE GIRL?
This woke agenda is literally destroying everything.

  6. Emily

I’m pretty sure this rumor isn’t accurate. I know it’s all over the Internet right now, but it doesn’t seem to be quite right.

  7. Roy

Anti-woke people want to live in a bland homogeneous America that never existed. It would be great for people to wake up and live in the true world made of color.

    1. Alexis Texas

It’s okay to make white characters black or s different race .

But if you make a black or other race white oh no.. people freak out!

  8. Roy

Maybe if more people were “woke” they’d see that America could have only survived due to diversity.

  9. This is not happening.

  10. Karen K

Being woke is a bad thing.

  11. Mech

I hope Jenna is not going to cross the picket line and start reshooting during Sag Aftra being on strike. I am pro union and will drop her off of my lists of actors to watch!

  12. Andrew

I won’t be watching this remake of a classic story. To be truthful I don’t like Zegler and have no interest in watching her work. If others disagree fell free to watch her. We all have the right to choose for ourselves.

  13. Phil parrino

Another Latin American for a German fairy tale? COME ON! would you cast a Millie Bobby Brown in Encanto? Its not about race, it’s about remaining faithful to the story.

  14. Matthew Summers

    Excellent news, Ziegler is insufferable.

  15. I myself have written and at this time am having a children’s book illustrated about a girl and her parents and pet living in town amongst humans. It’s a fresh, new story and it is the spiderkind. I think kids and future generations will like reading it. I also feel it will be a refreshing change for Disney and other publications.
