He’s been withhout a saber in exile. He has obviously defended himself without one to this point. He might have liked his chances of survival better with Sabine weilding it. I dont see a rejection of it in this scenario as a total rejection. The jedi order is not just the sabre, Finn waved one around and it didnt make him a jedi. We certanly knew Yoda as more of a force user until the Anikin storyline was released.

I’m tired of Disney ruining Star wars, the way they treated Luke and Han and now possibly Ezra. These are supposed to be the heroes and have been for many years and to turn them into cowards and sacrificial lambs is unforgivable.

I dont see it as a rejection at all. Clearly he felt that she likely needed the Saber to defended herself more than he did. To me he strengthened the weak link in the co frontation and has nothing to do with rejection of the jedi order. We shall see.

Or maybe he hadn’t had a lightsaber in years so that meant no practicing with it. So he would be better off fighting how he has had to fight while he had been on the island
