      Bye Felicia

I think the bigger picture here. Is the fact that…. If climate activists will lie and forge and manipulate the media about something as inconsequential as a child’s toy to get their misguided and unrealistic way. What will they do on serious matters that affect and put us all at a disadvantage . As citizens and as a country??
      Anybody???
      I’ll wait……

      1. Up Yours

You really think people who care about the climate are the enemy? You’re deranged and need a lobotomy.

    3. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      Oh boy. You believed this??

    4. E

How? They have consultanted and worked with ASAN several times and seemed pretty decent as far as a corp goes

  2. So I guess Water Plastic Bottles Are Out As Well Too Huh???

    1. Lily

To the other comments, Mattel isn’t evil, the Barbie movie is for everyone and was great, and yes we’ve been trying to get rid of all single use plastics like water bottles. I think its great that Mattel is trying to be more environmentally friendly.

      1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

Yes, the movie’s great but no way us Mattel switching out plastic. This story is for entertainment purposes only.

    2. Jared1

Water bottles are already made of 100% recycled material.

      Maybe read better?

    3. Tom

The ban has only been proposed, there’s a long way to go before it gets passed. Besides, we lived before plastic water bottles, we can live without them again.

      1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

No, it hasn’t. This site is satire.

    4. J.D.

Meh… Why bother they didn’t put up the first comment. So we know which side of the political spectrum this site is on…

      1. J.D.

        Never mind 😂😂

Yes. There is to much marketing on Barbie. Yeah She is a good doll. But the movie that is made for adults instead of for children is wrong. The movie seems to be over kill and leave well enough along. Let Barbie be a doll and not a marketing tool. 😠

    1. E

While I do totally agree that the Barbie movie is geared more towards the adults that grew up with her (seeming to want to pull 90’s and younger gen born adults), I will say that Barbie has been a “marketing” tool since I was a kid. She’d had cartoons and animated movies. She’s been used for commercials for other Mattel products.

Children grow up, and there are things that, as adults, we will always like. Respectfully, the movie isn’t “wrong”, it’s just not for everyone.

    2. Jared

It has always been one, and maybe use the rating before showing your child movies- you know, what it was made for.

      1. Tom

        Agreed

    3. Kay

      Ok Karen

      1. Tom

        😂

    4. EhCanadian

Speaking of plastic… Mattel’s quality has gone down the toilet. They’ve switched plastics, so all the snap-together tabs in their Barbie houses and Hot Wheels tracks don’t stay together. Fewer and simpler fabric clothes are included in the Barbie doll sets. Hot Wheels cars have less cast metal and are now mostly plastic. It used to be that Mattel and Hasbro were equal brands, now Mattel feels like a Dollar Store brand next to Hasbro (not that Hasbro is perfect).

  4. Rod

Oh please, then someone will be allergic, here we go again

  5. Rod

    Enough already

  6. AwakeGuy

You’ve been trolled. Check your sources – closely.

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      Satire.

  8. Daddy N

Its a Smart move to make Barbie compostable which means it will quickly destroy itself and need to be replaced with another, then another, then another…! Genius!

  9. Anna

Hahah, no. This was an elaborate hoax that was clearly very successful.

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      Satire!!

  10. Obi-Wan

Well no more handing down toys and toy collections. Toys will decompose and need to be bought more often for the same child. Leave a toy out side for a few hours could be the destruction of it depending on the weather conditions.
Seems like more of a ploy to make more sales then to actually be eco friendly.

  11. RJ

Once again facts are not checked before publishing. Way to fall for the hoax.

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      It’s a joke website. It’s
      intentional.

  12. RJ

Did you check a source or facts before publishing this? I’m guessing not.

  13. Me2248

I’m just hear to read the “everything I don’t like is woke” comments. Lmfao

    1. 🎉

same lmao… genuinely surprised this site gets any advertisers at all considering they don’t do anything about the rampant hate speech in their comment sections

      1. Johnny Nitro

        Free speech

  14. Topic

Whenever a company turns away from it’s values in order to pander to social pressure it’s the beginning of the end. Look for Mattel to join the ranks of Budweiser at some point.

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

Now who do you think is pressuring Mattel? C’mon. It’s a joke website.

  15. Amy Ess

Down Syndrome Barbie was an EPIC FAIL. It looks nothing like Down Syndrome-very sad. Mattel could have done so much better with it

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

That’s what I said. They can write satire but don’t ruin the joke by dragging down innocent people.

  16. Connie Babb

Why not just use vinyl, it’s a better material anyway. You can’t get rid of Barbie, she’s an icon that’s been around for years. I haven’t seen the Barbie movie, and don’t really want to…no offense. However, I’ve always loved Barbie since childhood. I do love the varieties of dolls their coming out with now. Come out with more! That would be awesome! We have down syndrome Barbie, wheelchair Barbie. How about others like: a bald cancer Barbie; autistic, elderly, teen boys, handicapped, ect. There are so many things you could do…all in good taste though. Why not go for it! More variety of clothes for the male dolls ( add some color for the love of God!).

    1. Tom

Vinyl is a type of plastic…

  17. Ryan

From what I heard there not stopping productions their just changing what they use to make barbie. They aren’t ending production of Barbie!

  18. Codringer

How awake do we need to be before we are fully woke?

    1. U.S.A

Woke is the belief SO WHAT IF THE TRUTH MAKES YOU AND YOUR KIDS UNCOMFORTABLE.

  19. Jan K.

If they are using compostable products then Barbie can’t go in the tub with you for a swim! She will melt like the wicked witch!

  20. Ashley Novak

OK so barbie I something I love my dad bought us the movies as a kid
I will not wach the live action one it’s silly because he’s plastic and can only be in animated movie for kids
As for the not having a barbie for every one she’s supposed to be for every one my I’m not blond and skinny but I’m not wanting to change kin of barbie because my size or belief in God she’s a pretty toy to make believe with and do fashion shows I even made my own clothes
Plus I have Have learning disabilities I have the voice talk but I don’t want a Barbie the voice talks and can’t see right or a movie about one

  21. Will

FYI. This was a hoax. Mattel did not announce this. People are so gullible.

  22. P

Barbie will continue. She may not be made of current plastics we know, but she ain’t going nowhere.

  23. S

The part about phasing out plastic has been debunked as a hoax.

  24. Graham

It’s fake please take this down Mattel stated the news that it was a hoax

  25. Judith Cunningham

Re : No More Plastic Barbie Girls just wanna have fun! Leave Barbie alone! No one wants a doll made out of creepy kelp or whatever. How many chemicals will it take to kill the smell and stop decomposition?

  26. B. J. C.

What a load of crap. Much ado about nothing.

  27. Barbara

    Seriously?

  28. Bill

You guys know this was a hoax press release right? It was confirmed as a hoax by the people who created it…

  29. True Barbie Fan

So this was actually a hoax press release done by climate-change activists the Yes Men. Mattel has come back and said that all of this was false information. Very convincing and elaborate, but still false.

  30. Marie

So in other words, these dolls will be made out of crap materials that won’t last ten years so more will be in the landfill and cost two to three times the price to boot because it’s made of “recycled materials”….got it!!!!

  31. Bob

Sounds like Mattel is putting out a Bud Light Barbie.
End of the line for Mattel like Disney’s start with Buzz Lightyear.

Another future biz school case study on how to destroy a business.

  32. John Doe

    B O. Y. C. O. T. T !!!!!!

  33. John Doe

Save your old Barbies – time to BOYCOTT Mattel !!!!!!

  34. T

Mattel is an evil woke devil created machine! They went woke and now they will be broke! Thank God for showing us who these companies really are!

    1. 🌩

      take your meds, schizo

  35. Brice

Well there goes Barbie all together if they do this they’ll lose everything and I hope not as a hot wheels collector and my wife a Barbie collector they will sink with this move

  36. Lady

Next well have a trans barbie 🤦🏾‍♀️

    1. 🌱

      and?

  37. Lynette

OMGosh I have heard it all now. Has everyone turned into idiots in this country?! Glad I kept all my Barbie’s. One made from mushrooms and who knows what insane. When will they ban certain kinds of people. Just wait for it.

  38. Ron

It’s a hoax dummies! This has been widely reported – environmental activists posing as Mattel by way of creating websites and videos using Mattel’s branding were behind this. They’re not stopping production on Barbies or any other plastic toys. Maybe do a little research before publishing “news” next time! 🙄

  39. Jeremy

Of all the asinine things I’ve ever read..Barbies are the issue? I don’t recall ever seeing a Barbie in a coral reef, or wrapped around a sea turtle..get serious 🙄

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      Satire site.

  40. F

    This is a fake story

  41. Warren

Mattel in not so many words just said they are going out of business.
Then again they stopped making toys for kids.
The movie was made for adults. They are as out of touch as the Government.

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      It’s a joke website.

  42. John

    We need:
    -body positive barbies
    -trans barbies

  43. Jason

So it was a hoax and yet you still published it, how pathetic..

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

Not a hoax. This site is satire.

  44. J.D.

Meh… Why bother they didn’t put up the first comment. So we know which side of the political spectrum this site is on…

    1. Jona Denz-Hamilton

      Seriously??

  45. Jona Denz-Hamilton

It’s a low blow to those with Down Syndrome to include them in your satire, as if they’re a joke. You could have said they’re making DogBarbie or AlienBarbie for fun.

  46. Jona Denz-Hamilton

You left out the part of the new dolls being edible!!

  47. Jr

Can we start throwing all the plastic into the oceans? After the fake story given they kind of earn us doing that for the lies they gave. We need more items made of plastic to throw away 🥳

  48. Agnieszka

So disappointed in the movie Mattel. I thought this was really going to be a Barbie movie instead it had a message behind it which was upsetting. Everyone can be a Barbie no matter what! Everyone should know that. The world today is way too sensitive. How dare you make Barbie cry!
