I really wish you and the others who contribute to this newsletter would refrain from using the term “woke” if you’re not going to use it correctly. The term woke means: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice). This term has been around for many, many years but for some odd reason it’s being used as the new “political catch phrase” and incorrectly.

It’s the same as constantly calling something/someone racist/phobic all the time. Everyone’s been throwing those words around so much since 2016 that they no longer hold the same meaning. At this point all of those words effectively mean the same thing, which is: “Doesn’t agree with my politics (which are the correct politics to have)”. It’s cheap applause for approval-seeking people in need of attention.

Is there only one definition? Where are you getting your definition from? Since the word is really just a turn on an existing word, it stands to reason that the term can be modified wouldn’t you agree? Thanks Webster for clarifying for everyone.

You’re right, we should call it what it rightfully is, a cheap, cynical cash grab made to capture “modern audiences”.

There’s nothing woke about it because a multinational conglomerate can never be woke. They don’t care about “current issues” they just want you to think they do, and to trick you into spending money on the same product with a different coat of paint.

There, does that sound better? At least we’re getting everything out in the open. It’s not woke, in fact the audience is probably going to be put to sleep if they weren’t already before watching this low quality trash.

It’s going to be pretty funny when this generation is old enough to be judged by the next one. Gen Z isn’t going to be praised as the altruistic heroes like the loudest voices proclaim. I predict a world where this current generation tells their kids, “We saved the world by increasing representation in marketing & film” or “We saved the world by canceling Bud Light”, followed by their kids rolling their eyes and saying “Okay Zoomer”.

I don’t think Gen-Z were the ones protesting bud light – they were the ones bud light was marketing to.

I will never go to see another Disney remake ever. Not worth my time, money or patience!

People need to grow up and relax. Disney doesnt have to change things that majority of population enjoys Disney’s storytelling. These were taken from books and adapted for our entertainment as a family. These days people need to not get on their social soap box for every single thing and ruin things for others. Take it somewhere else. Why does this small group of activists have so much power. Put your energy into something else.

This is an easy pass for me. Not interested in another woke show. Hope it gets cancelled fast.

Just save your money and time if you dont want to see this film. Its clear Disney is bankrupt when it comes to fresh new ideas. Dont complain, just dont go watch their films. Let the ones who like these films line up and watch them
