Clearly the person whom wrote this has never seen any star wars product apart from the OT by the sounds of it because storm troopers have different classes hence different amour in R1 and Andor you have shore troopers a different variant of the storm trooper and in Mando you have mortar troopers which are storm troopers with red trim my point is different units have different markings just like the clones did

The issue will come when fans start seeing the same gold cracked stormtrooper armour in competely different unrelated scenes because the costume was being used to save costs. This is why henchman in movies often wear the same clothes and masks. So they can be killed and re-used.

Who cares? Just enjoy the movie. You’re not dissecting a frog.

No, he’s dissecting a meme which is much more complex.

While I do understand the need for consistency, I’m drawn back to General Kodi in stormtrooper outfit, but with colored markings. Also the red sith troopers, the black stormtroopers, the chrome trooper….
So adding more color variants…. meh…. Just a different movie/series.
If they just make a good story, fans will watch it.

Who cares Disney ruined Star Wars. Heck they ruined Lucasfilm in general. They can make all the changes they want. They’ll never get the core audience back until they either sell or completely clean house.

George ruined Star Wars dozens of times so you can shut up

      1. D

He had the right to ruin it

Core fans are still watching. Dont equte your experience with everyone elses. No one has ruined Star Wars more thoroughly than opinionated wannabe fanboys trying to gatekeep because the stories arent what they pictured in their own minds.

Holy cow! A costume from one movie is different in the other movies in the series! Give this journalist a Pulitzer.

I see a face more than anything. Looks like a helmet similar to the Clone Pilot of Revenge of the Sith.

Never understood why people cry that military uniforms in fiction need to be updated really often, I mean they’re imperial remnants, they’re a military force, they have a uniform, military uniforms whilst they do change and get updated don’t tend to change that much that fast, and in the context of that period of Star Wars they’re using leftover equipment and shouldn’t really have much means of mass production to make new equipment so redesigns probably wouldn’t be top priority for em at that stage.

But yeah main point, yes they’re a fictional baddie design but in universe they’re military uniforms they are rank and file, don’t vary much, there are variants for specialised roles but overall you’re likely to just find regular stormtroopers most of the time, if they start updating the designs as frequently as attention lacking internet denizens want then they’re gonna run into the same problem star trek has with the constant uniform updates making the federation look barely coherent and like nobody is actually working for the same organisation.

In the 501st we relish the changing costumes, giving us new armors to try to recreate. Been like that for decades.

The main thing is that the stormy still is a masked drone of the empire. (Or an evil officer with great ambitions)

    Hail to the emperor!

Perhaps they aren’t the classic rank & file stormtroopers, it’s very probable that, being Trhawn a great Admiral, they would be a sort of special bodyguards, with distinctive markings, as we’ve often seen in real world ‘s units.

Articke is nonsense. There are so many specialist stormtroopers. Even pre trilogy predisney had a lot of variation. These are prob his elite guard. Heck it could just be a unique bounty hunter

Filoni has my complete trust he’s the chosen one

Honestly it makes sense if this is Admiral Thrawn appearing after the events of Rebels. They were The Force only knows where and for decades. I would rather the weld marks liiked more like hiw they did on Rex’s Clone Wars era helmet but then again Thrawn is a strategist and making his troops recognisable is similar to the 501st under Anakin during the Clone Wars in that they are instantly identifiable and thus as they possibly make a name for themselves it will put a little more fear into enemies versus just another Imperial Remnant’s troops.

I typed a really long comment just now but the website decided to delete it, so I’ll type it again but a little bit shorter.

The Imperial Remnant are not THE Empire, they are what’s left. They are not one giant force that destroys every foe with absolute effectiveness anymore. They are made up of splinter factions that sometimes even attack each other. They don’t have the means to regularly produce new armor and uniforms. It only makes sense for the troopers to repair them with what they have and however they can. Also Thrawn is known to use his resources as efficiently as possible and maybe he doesn’t stand for everything The Empire stood for. His troops are HIS troops now, not The Empire’s. He can decide what they have to look like.
