Don’t like the new cafeteria style at all. Grab and leave? And what’s with the food trucks? Grab and leave? Go back to your camper? Or hopefully find a picnic table? Good luck.
Go back to the buffet again. It WAS part of the experience of camping Fort Wilderness. Trail’s End even delivered pizza to your camper! Trail’s End was the perfect end to a long day. It WAS the only sit down restaurant on ground unless you went to the Hoop de Do show or Backyard BBQ. Which the BBQ is also gone, a long with River Country swim lake. And where are all the Fort Wilderness Campground bumper stickers, mugs, racoon hats, post card!!?? These were all part of the experience. The “get away”.
I have to give a big hug to all the workers at Fort Wilderness Campground. They make the trip happen! From the bathrooms, twinkle tree lights, even the guy who took care of the sand ants that were at our site. Thank you 😊.
My family and I had many happy mornings at Trail’s End before going to any of the parks for the day. We loved the food, and the ambience was perfect for Fort Wilderness. I couldn’t believe when I saw videos of how it looks now. I suppose that now someone will say that Fort Wilderness is to old fashioned, and when I look back at the remark I just made about the campground it made me sick just to think that it would be a sin to do something drastic to the campground.

Davy Crockett didn’t survive the Battle of the Alamo. He was either killed in action or executed.
