This is the dumbest thing any company should do. Not everyone has fast broadband, but most especially…… Streaming is not the best quality to view a TV show or movie. Owning these things on physical discs is superior and just another way to control us. Don’t let them do it people. Give us a physical version or drop dead. It’s that simple.

The people left in the physical media market (myself included!) Are fine paying the high costs on these releases. $30/35/40+, steelbooks, special editions, 4K, 3D, you name it.. I want it!
I don’t care about the streaming version that’s available on my $2.99 Disney plus membership, I want it on disc for the highest quality.

Sure, there are things I don’t really need on physical media, mostly stuff like unscripted reality shows and streaming works great for that.

But the newest marvel movie? Oppenheimer? John wick? I’m going to want those on the highest quality possible for the visuals (4K HDR) and audio (Dolby Atmos), as well as the physical media collectors piece to put on a shelf.

I understand getting rid of DVDs.. as in actual DVD’s. I don’t know anyone who buys a DVD anymore, those are associated with the $5 bin at Walmart by now. But Blu Ray? 4K? Even if it was only available online.. I’d buy it!

Let me order marvel movies only from Amazon? No problem. Don’t make me order it from marvel.com or disney.com, but pick a retailer and just send them a shipment every few months to keep them stocked.

You should know that DVDs are the still the top selling media format. I was shocked as well when I found this out.

Wrong mistake this will hit them hard on sales gain it will be a bad Business strategy this will hurt them in the end and they will loose thousands of consumers

Then I guess Disney has no problem pirating their films and TV shows if there will be no way to access them. Just like Nintendo, Disney here are promoting and allowing it’s consumers to torrent and pirate all their content.

Then they deserve all of the piracy that this will cause.

  5. And just like that, a new business model is created. Collecting DVDs will be a thing, and real physical media will become valuable.

  6. Not surprised with Disney’s cancel theme. Amazing a company like this pretending not to be the hypocritical communists we all know they are. I saw this coming years ago with the emerging streaming of all media. Incredibly most people didn’t care because streaming was convenient and space saving.
Nothing would be able to prevent Disney from canceling out any movie or show they didn’t like. As far as I am concerned Disney can be sent to the hot place they don’t believe in. It’s called hell by the way.
