That pause before ruling a question, correct or incorrect that others keep referring to, that is Mayim Bialik, waiting for the judges to make a call. You can’t have it both ways either. She’s instantaneous and makes the judgment call or she pauses and lets the judge just do their job.
I am a long time fan of the show & enjoy the episodes Ken hosts & usually don’t watch if Mayim’s hosting. The only reason I’ve suffered through the boring episodes she’s hosted at all is because the amount of time Ken’s been away has been longer than I prefer to go without my daily Jeopardy fix. The questions & categories even seem to be blase’ when she hosts!
Mayam or Ken, doesn’t matter to me. I watch for the contestants and because I’m a fact freak. Miss Alex, but current two are good. Whiners gonna whine.
I never watched this show after it debuted BECAUSE of AT. I never liked him on Classic Concentration, or Jeopardy. Mayim is the ONLY reason I watch it now. Do you HONESTLY believe she is able to make judgment calls without HAND SIGNALS being given to her? And someone said she is obnoxious? Who are you people to judge anyone else, period??? The problem with her pause before she confirms the correct answer is that it happens too frequently. If she is waiting for the judges to confirm a correct answer why is she also pausing when the answer given is exactly the correct answer. No need for a judgement call. It just feels like she is not doing her homework prior to the game.
Mayim is not a real game show host, she just plays one on TV…
Whereas, Ken has earned his position in the upper game show epsilon. Royalty, if you will. He has a rye sense of humor while always adding more to a fact. Love me some Ken Jennings. He isn’t “acting” like Mayim is doing. His IS a host, she just ACTS like one.

I have watched Jeopardy for many years & I can remember Alex waiting for the judges to rule on a question. The host does not know all the correct responses, they are in front of them at the podium. Ken probably knows 98% of the correct responses because he is scary smart! Alex & Mayim had to refer to the answers/questions that were on the podium. In the early days they were written on a huge sheet of paper that Alex would refer to. He would check off each response as they were given & at the end of each segment you could see him rip off the big sheet of paper. It’s a game show & no one watching the show is in a position to criticize the hosting style of anyone! Get over yourselves people, watch the show, don’t watch the show. But remember, Mayim is still getting comfortable in the role of host. Ken is more comfortable because he was on the show as a contestant a long time & got used to the rythm & pace of the show. If you watch old episodes with Alex, you will see him make the same mistakes that Mayim makes now. Many times Alex would hesitate while waiting for a judgment call. Also many times after a commercial break Alex would tell a contestant that during the break the judges ruled their response correct & sometimes incorrect & the scores would change. Not a single one of us here are perfect! Stop being so critical & just enjoy the game, cuz it is just a game!

There are two Presidents named Adam’s. The second President was John Adams.The sixth President was John Harrison Adams.The questions answer related to the sixth president. So the contestant had to answer with middle name Harrison.

I am in agreement with you. I have been a fan since its inception, however, Ms. Bialik has ruined it for me. I try to concentrate on the contestants but her unprofessional chirping seeps its way into my enjoyment. She is decidedly a very poor host. A good host smiles not giggles. Thank you.
Mayim Bialik is horrible. On The Big Bang Theory we couldn’t tell which was worse, her or her character. She is equally as bad on Jeopardy. There is nothing consistent in her rulings and she takes so long to tell the contestants whether they are right or wrong that it ruins the flow of the game. I wish she would just go away and go back to telling baloney about vaccines.

People don’t hate her because of her gender but because she’s a terrible host. I can’t watch Jeopardy when she’s on. But I’ve enjoyed watching Meredith Vieira for years on Millionaire and 25 words. I look forward to Jane Lynch on the Weakest Link. And Sara Haines is fine on the Chase.

Mayim delivers the yes/no response quickly if you listen to her on the shows she hosts.
When people complain that she takes too long to give an an answer y/n to a question, it obviously doesn’t occur to them she might be listening to the judges in her ear regarding the proper response. They just look for something to blame her for.
She’s doing very well as a jeopardy host and people need to lighten up.
The pause from Mayim before confirming y or n is so annoying. Neither Alex or Ken hesitates when hosting. She’s done this long enough to be corrected but it continues to be an issue.

I have no problem with her. It’s the judges accepting one name answers that is annoying. All answers should require a first and last name in order to acceptable.
I believe that Mayim Bialik does a wonderful job hosting Jeopardy. She is charming and has a great sense of humor. I particularly enjoy her interviews with the contestants.

I have been an avid Jeopardy fan since it’s beginning. I hardly missed an episode with Alex Trebek as the host. He is missed. As for the hosts since his death, only one fills his shoes. Ken Jennings is who Alex wanted as his replacement. I now ONLY watch the game when it is hosted by Ken. The remarks above are the reasons I will not watch the show when Mayim Bialik is hosting. I now tune in on Monday to see who is hosting. If it’s Ken, I watch. If it isn’t, I don’t. Listen to Alex and your viewers and make Ken the permanent host for everything Jeopardy!!

Mayim too slow, seems unsure of herself, not a natural for rapport with contestants.
She may be smart, but might do well as a contestant.
Ken, on the other hand meets all the host criteria perfectly.
Alex and Ken may have cue cards, but they also know the answers and are smooth. Whereas she doesn’t know half the answers and it shows. Her responses are too Jerry. She’s a good actress, not a good game show host.
Lets give Mayim time to get a feel for the game.

They now require her to dress down and not dress colorful because it makes Ken look bad. Ken let’s the contestants answer the question without asking the question like “What is.” I don’t get excited about watching unless she is the host. Ken is not host material!
She is totally inept as host. There is nothing natural about her. She is used to a scripted performance and is completely ill-fitted to this format. Her comments are stilted and inane.
I have never seen her acting performances, but I hope she’s better than she is on Jeopardy. I watch only intermittently when she is hosting, and if the contestants are lackluster, I turn it off!
Rule changes are always confusing and more often disappointing, no matter who is hosting! However, I find it more troubling that a simple misspelling should disqualifying you in Final Jeopardy question (especially if English may not be your primary language), OR YOU MAY HAVE GROWN UP LISTENING TO A COLLOQUIAL DIALECT…
I am still trying to get over the ruling that Benedic”T” was ruled as incorrect for the name BENEDICK costing a “true Champion” his opportunity to continue his “record run”… I know I would have made the same mistake.
Perhaps this is why more people are being drawn to [the games show network’s] simple games of chance and common sense and away from games that are designed for the academically astute! 🤔

I don’t care her either and can’t wait for Ken to be back. I am going to defend her on this. She is not chosing the ruling hear. She asked to be more specific because we had two president named Adam’s she need to no which one. We had John Adams and then John Quincy Adam’s. She didn’t ask to be for specific with Harrison one because there was only one Harrison as president.
If she doesn’t have a contract I think she should move on to acting positions rather than continue to host Jeopardy. There have been too many rules changes, inconsistencies, hesitations, etc. I also think she incorrectly denied Ben the win of a 10th game and I think the producers should bring him back for regular season play again.
When she accepted Harrison without specifics, but demanded specifics for Adams (there were 2 president Adam’s & 2 president Harrison’s) I said “That’s enough”! As long as she’s the host I will not watch it, she turns my stomach! When Ken comes back I’ll watch Jeopardy again!

At first, I thought she was unfairly being targeted by obsessive judging. After watching her more, I also now feel the same way as all the other ppl. The annoying delays in giving her response, the inconsistency in understanding and applying the rules, the annoying way she laughs and almost yells when a dbl J answer pops up, the the lack of speed (efficiency-fluency) she doesn’t posses and just lacks the wit and professionalism that her co-host (Jennings) has. It’s like night and day stark difference between them.
I definitely noticed the internet/intranet mistake, but, just let it go, thinking I may have misheard. I remember the Adams/John Quincy Adam’s thing, but, did not pick up on the Harrison question. I may have been distracted right then. I can’t put my finger on it, but, for some reason I like Ken Jennings better. Mayem seems too rehearsed or stiff or something, With either one, I love Jeopardy period.
I much prefer Ken also—Maxim’s “jerkiness” bothers me—her tendency to stiffly move her head & neck as she talks—I realize that sounds picky, but it’s so mannered and unnatural! Her short interviews do NOT connect with the contestants! They sound more like a brush-off!

There were 2 different presidents with the Adam’s last name. John Adams was the 2nd U.S. president and John Quincy Adams was the 6th U.S. president. Answering this question correctly required further clarification. There has been only one U.S. president with the Harrison last name; therefore no further specificity was needed.
Mayim doesn’t make the rules nor is she the final decision maker when it comes to whether a contestant is ruled correct or not. This role, as always, is up to the judges.
She is pleasant enough, but her hesitation to confirm responses is very irritating. Because Ken is a master at the game it’s way more fun to watch when he is hosting.
For those of you who missed it when this whole thing was discussed on the internet a decade ago: No if you have watched Jeopardy for any length of time you will have seen Alex Trebek turning to the panel of judges when in doubt about an answer.
Sometimes, after a commercial break or if the situation warrants it, like before a wager on Jeopardy clue, he will announce the judges have reexamined an answer and changed their initial decision.
It can be that they have found that the answer a contestant gave, while not the one the writer had chosen was also valid, or that the clue was ambiguous and could be interpreted in the way that caused the different answer, both situation leading to accepting the answer or that the constestant has mispronounced, adding or removing a letter, often an “s” at the end of the word.
I can’t stand her. I can’t stand how she pauses before saying “correct” or “no”, she is rude and has a condescending tone. I mute the show and use closed captions when she is on so I don’t have to hear her. Everything about her is irritating.
Why she was ever put on my favorite show is way beyond me. She sucked on big bang theory and seriously sucks on jeopardy. I refuse to watch the show when she’s on. Get a clue producers. A man is needed in this role. Stop believing that women should be everywhere and this is coming from a woman.
I honestly don’t understand why the judges let her get away with the errors she plainly makes. It’s so unfair to the contestants. You rarely see any score adjustments for her errors. At least she ditched her “Single Jeopardy” quickly.
Mayim was good at hosting Celebrity Jeopardy, where the questions are easier and she could interact with her acting peers. She seemed more natural in that role. Maybe they could have her host Celebrity Jeopardy and use Ken for the regular program.
Reggie… You said it. The Celebrity Jeopardy format was perfect for Mayim, and it was/is a really fun departure from the standard format, while still embodying the show. The questions are easier, so viewers can get more corrects, feel part of the show, and the banter is livelier and well suited to Mayim as you said. Regular Jeopardy and other specials of standard caliber…Is Ken a more suitable host? Yes, he is a natural. Very enjoyable. Is Mayim improving, yes, she definitely is. The contrast between the two is pleasant. Like two fine wines. The most interesting part…people are so passionate about this, about Jeopardy. It’s an American institution. Sony wins in the end, no matter who is hosting. 😅😅

I have watched Jeopardy for many years & I can remember Alex waiting for the judges to rule on a question. The host does not know all the correct responses, they are in front of them at the podium. Ken probably knows 98% of the correct responses because he is scary smart! Alex & Mayim had to refer to the answers/questions that were on the podium. In the early days they were written on a huge sheet of paper that Alex would refer to. He would check off each response as they were given & at the end of each segment you could see him rip off the big sheet of paper. It’s a game show & no one watching the show is in a position to criticize the hosting style of anyone! Get over yourselves people, watch the show, don’t watch the show. But remember, Mayim is still getting comfortable in the role of host. Ken is more comfortable because he was on the show as a contestant a long time & got used to the rythm & pace of the show. If you watch old episodes with Alex, you will see him make the same mistakes that Mayim makes now. Many times Alex would hesitate while waiting for a judgment call. Also many times after a commercial break Alex would tell a contestant that during the break the judges ruled their response correct & sometimes incorrect & the scores would change. Not a single one of us here are perfect! Stop being so critical & just enjoy the game, cuz it is just a game!

Mayim delivers the yes/no response quickly if you listen to her on the shows she hosts.
When people complain that she takes too long to give an an answer y/n to a question, it obviously doesn’t occur to them she might be listening to the judges in her ear regarding the proper response. They just look for something to blame her for.

At first, I thought she was unfairly being targeted by obsessive judging. After watching her more, I also now feel the same way as all the other ppl. The annoying delays in giving her response, the inconsistency in understanding and applying the rules, the annoying way she laughs and almost yells when a dbl J answer pops up, the the lack of speed (efficiency-fluency) she doesn’t posses and just lacks the wit and professionalism that her co-host (Jennings) has. For those of you who missed it when this whole thing was discussed on the internet a decade ago: No if you have watched Jeopardy for any length of time you will have seen Alex Trebek turning to the panel of judges when in doubt about an answer.
Sometimes, after a commercial break or if the situation warrants it, like before a wager on Jeopardy clue, he will announce the judges have reexamined an answer and changed their initial decision.
It can be that they have found that the answer a contestant gave, while not the one the writer had chosen was also valid, or that the clue was ambiguous and could be interpreted in the way that caused the different answer, both situation leading to accepting the answer or that the constestant has mispronounced, adding or removing a letter, often an “s” at the end of the word.
But it’s always the judges not Alex.

I can’t stand her. I can’t stand how she pauses before saying “correct” or “no”, she is rude and has a condescending tone. I mute the show and use closed captions when she is on so I don’t have to hear her. Everything about her is irritating.

I honestly don’t understand why the judges let her get away with the errors she plainly makes. It’s so unfair to the contestants. You rarely see any score adjustments for her errors. At least she ditched her “Single Jeopardy” quickly.

Mayim was good at hosting Celebrity Jeopardy, where the questions are easier and she could interact with her acting peers. She seemed more natural in that role. Maybe they could have her host Celebrity Jeopardy and use Ken for the regular program.

Reggie… You said it. The Celebrity Jeopardy format was perfect for Mayim, and it was/is a really fun departure from the standard format, while still embodying the show. The questions are easier, so viewers can get more corrects, feel part of the show, and the banter is livelier and well suited to Mayim as you said. Regular Jeopardy and other specials of standard caliber…Is Ken a more suitable host? Yes, he is a natural. Very enjoyable. Is Mayim improving, yes, she definitely is. The contrast between the two is pleasant. Like two fine wines. The most interesting part…people are so passionate about this, about Jeopardy. It’s an American institution. Sony wins in the end, no matter who is hosting. 😅😅

People don’t hate her because of her gender but because she’s a terrible host. I can’t watch Jeopardy when she’s on. But I’ve enjoyed watching Meredith Vieira for years on Millionaire and 25 words. I look forward to Jane Lynch on the Weakest Link. And Sara Haines is fine on the Chase. Lol
