Is it really that hard to create an original character?

    1. Matthew

It is when you have no talent and just want to be a parasite on the talent of others.

    2. Lee

Yes. How often do you pick up a book with a new character?

      1. Rob

Isom’s a new character. First issue came out last year and it made over 3 million dollars in sales.

    3. James

Good luck trying to cancel Peter Parker.

    4. DK

      I guess it is… 😕

    5. Vic

The push for Miles Morales at Marvel is the same for DC pushing the god awful Zack Snyder versions of Superman and Batman: to crush any “relation” to the original characters in order to prevent any further lawsuits from the relatives ofvthe Artist/creators who originally designed them like Jack Kirby, Jerry Seigel and Joe Schuster, Steve Ditko and others. 61 incrrdibly successful years of the Amazing Spider-man; of course no actually cares about the Miles Morales character lol

      1. Julian H

Zack Snyder version was so much better, at least I thought so and many many others did too.

    6. Jake

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing I’m tired of this race swapping crap. If there is a Miles Morales Spider-Man movie I won’t be going to see it.

    7. Wow

What a joke there gunna push the whole race bull crap on spider man bc the black community is mad they don’t have as many black superheros I have nothing against black people but maybe instead of remaking superheros that are already there go make a new one not this peter has to pass the touch down. In the newest spider man he’s still a teenager they haven’t even made his whole story yet marvel is going down the drain and talking stan lees dream with it

  2. kenlamella47@gmail.com

Are you insane? Peter Parker Spider-Man is the symbol of Marvel. Not Miles. Tom Holland has never said that he’s stepping away from the Spider-Man character so I don’t know where you’re getting your information. We have him for at least another ten years before Miles is even in the picture. That’s well over 200 million for Tom Holland. Would you walk away from that??

    1. Maitee

Peter Parker is Spiderman. To say that Miles is more popular or represents a wider audience is not true. The Spiderverse is great on its own and has its merits but when it comes to box office numbers they aren’t the same. Tom Holland’s Spiderman, especially No Way Home did much better numbers wise. I don’t think we have finished with Tom Holland nor should they take a success that Miles has had with Animation and his style and try to bring it to live action. We’ve seen what Disney has done with live action and no way would I want to see Disney try and take a swing only to miss entirely. So no and besides Disney can say all they want but they don’t own Spiderman, they are borrowing him. SONY has those rights. Stay in your lane Disney, you have enough collision and damage there.

    2. David chase

That would brucebeing replaced as bats and Clark as superman should mot be done usney just keeping applying woke!

      1. Wulf

Bruce was replaced — by Terry McGinnis — in Batman Beyond, back in 1999. Bruce officially retired and worked as Terry’s op agent from the Batcave.

The show had rave reviews and is still a major fan favourite, to this day.

And, well, Robin’s been replaced numerous times…

        1. Mik

Because DC plot armour has anything to do with marvel

    3. Cheryl

Indeed, anyone can put on a mask. Peter Parker, a high school student, did just that. Now suddenly that isn’t relatable to the average person?

    4. Kayla

As much as I do like the whole Miles Morales idea as the new Spiderman, Peter Parker will always be my Spiderman. I hope Tom Holland isn’t really stepping away from the role, otherwise my heart will be broken if he does 😭💔

    5. Teddy Kirniawan

What?! Did all aware all comic character success from earth 1? Peter Parker it’s the best no one can’t replace.

  3. yep

    Peter Parker is Spider-Man

    1. Cypress

      Exactly

    2. Ej441

In this time, everything has changed, people also, now it’s not the 60’s, like us we have our time it’s time for a change.

      1. Jake

Nope we don’t need another race swapped character who was given a bunch of extra abilities just for that fact.

    3. Unaware

I don’t know about replacing peter, but he definitely stands alongside him. Peter Parker & Miles Morales are spider-man.

    4. John

Peter Parker will always be Spider-Man. Couldn’t give a crap about Miles Morales.

      1. Ethan Abbott

The best one too. Miles is just this random guy. Didn’t you hear in Spider-Verse? He’s a freaking accident. He is great as a sidekick like in Insomniac’s Spider Man. Also you really think live action miles would do well? It would fail immediately. Whoever made it would go broke.

        1. Mike

Wait, Peter becoming Spiderman wasn’t an accident, too? Oh wait, it was.

    5. Mike

Miguel O’Hara, Ben Reilly, Gerry Drew, Ai Apaec, Mac Gargan. I could sit here for a while naming other people who have donned the name “Spider-Man”. Otto Octavius, Norman Osbourne. If a bad guy can become Spider-Man, why can’t a little black kid who’s dad is a cop?

  4. James

I left marvel cause of the crappy writing and crappy shows lately. If they brought spiderman back up to quality writing with Mary Jane I would be there in a heartbeat

  5. American

This is that WOK change they keep FORCING on people.

    1. Ethan Abbott

      YES EXACTLY

    2. Vox

Right? That WOK change they keep forcing on us? I don’t want fried rice! Well, at least not right now. Maybe for dinner…

  6. Siaki

Everyone know spider man is Peter Parker and others and there can be more than one spider man at a time and in the same universe they have like three flashes in the same universe so why can spider man/marvel if y’all start taking away favorite characters and fully replacing them that takes away from the diversity of characters for people to enjoy some may identify with Peter and others with miles or other spider people just leave them an let people enjoy their favorite characters

  7. Bruce

Woke culture once again trying to replace someone. Just stop!! Peter Parker is and always will be “the” Spiderman. Nothing wrong with Miles, but he isn’t replacing Peter. Just another version.

    1. Mike

Except Peter has been replaced many times in the past. Just do a little research before you blame “Woke Culture” on things.

  8. CosmicMate

    I’m sick of representation.

  9. Jason sisk

Peter Parker is spider man, stop ruining everything, lately anything Disney touches is turning to crap, not everyone or everything needs to conform to today’s society!

  10. Nick Arnold

I’ve never seen anything involving Miles Morales before the Spiderverse narrative. I’ll admit that I’m not the comic book officinado that I once was(as I am 37 years old now), but I have always seen Peter Parker as Spiderman! I get that the backdrop of the origin of Spiderman can easily befall someone else, radioactive spider bite, but the powers of Spiderman only tell what he’s capable of and only through the humility, character, and the overcoming of failures is how people truly relate to Peter Parker. I don’t see any other fictional character coming close to relatability.

    1. Mike

Spider-Man: Ultimate Fallout #4 (2011). Max Borne will always be my favorite, from 1995’s Spiderman 2099 Meets Spider-Man.

  11. Lindsey Nikisch

I heard the recent spider-verse movie isn’t great. I’ll be kinda crushed if there’s no more Spiderman. He my favorite mcu character. Besides what about the post credit scene with venom?

  12. CajunAsian

As a fan, I have enjoyed the story arc with Miles Morales and agree that this take on Spiderman deserves to be explored more in LIVE movies. However, please stop with the “representation” narrative. It’s getting old and folks (including kids) are tired of it. Good Story = Fun Movie. Not race or various “affiliations”. PERIOD. *mic drop*

  13. Bubba

Would MCU ever make Spider-Man mature? I’m really tired of the goofy Greatest American Hero antics.

  14. Omi

I would love to finally see a live action adaptation of Spider Man Miles Morales [was going to happen but a certain actor/rapper had to spoil it] and give Peter a needed break for 10 or 20 years, let them tell the other Spider Man stories like Spider Man 2099 or the Spider Gwen story.

  15. Aleck

Load of BS. Spiderman will ALWAYS be Peter Parker. Nothing against Miles.

  16. Terry

They already tried to replace Pete with miles and failed, Peter Parker is always one of marvel comics best selling comics. They’ll never retire him.

  17. Nope

    Who’s Spider-Man?

  18. Edgar

NOT SURE WHERE THIS INFORMATION IS COMING FROM BUT AS THE MAN IN THE TOBEY MCGUIRE ORIGINAL SPIDER MAN SAID. IT STINKS!!! AND I DON’T LIKE IT

  19. Ofbg

Age-ism in comic book characters. how sad.

There may be an age old saying of anyone can put on the mask, but there is an old age saying too, that you can be anything but old.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Miles, and Peter. Personal favorite is Miguel Ohara.

    1. Mike

Mine was Max Borne. That twist that he was fighting his daughter the whole time is great.

  20. Wulf

Wow, all of the complaints about Miles Morales taking the mask and becoming the new Spider-Man, which has been years in the making…

Maybe they should wait a bit to hear about Nightcrawler’s upcoming run as the webslinger that’s launching in August, for the Fall of X arc. 😏

  21. Michael

Guess I will not watch Spiderman anymore if that happens… Maybe check DC out

  22. Pam BJ

Miles Morales is very appealing to the younger generation like my Grandson. I would not have been aware of Miles if not for my Grandson!! I am happy Miles exists.

  23. Sam

Thats funny miles is great for this generation you mean bc Disney is replacing everyone with different characters good job

  24. Animejay

I like Miles, but Peter IS Spider-Man.

I like that there is more than one Spider. marvel’s been doing that for decades now.

  25. Parker

No, Peter Parker does not “need to be replaced” And this is not “a good thing”. This is just virtue signaling and catering to “the current thing”.

  26. James

Miles is just boring. I feel he was created for the wrong reasons. Peter parker is the only true spiderman. Really won’t like spiderman if miles “takes over”.

  27. Bolt

Miles who? I have absolutely Zero Interest (and I know I’m not the only one) in seeing any other character play Spider-man 🕷️ other than Peter Parker. And for what its worth, I also preferred the original movies with Tobey.

  28. Defacto

Pretty easy to see why they wanted to replace Peter Parker. But it’s also an insult that even though Hispanics are the largest minority, there still aren’t hardly any Hispanic main characters. Miles is only half, and besides that most Hispanics are brown.

  29. Chris Dineen

Peter Parker “walking away” from being Spider-Man would be like Bruce Banner “walking away” from being the Hulk! Um. REALLY??!! In the words of a famous franchise….”There can be ONLY ONE!!!”

    1. Vox

You obviously don’t know the Hulk series very well…

  30. Leigh

I think it’s a bold move for Disney to change the Spider-Man character for the future like the have done with other characters. I feel that if Disney wants to start fresh with a younger Spider-Man then I believe that Nathan Arenas would be a good start and a young actor that Disney can use for multiple films. It’s always frustrating for fans when they get involved with an actor for a character and then change that actor for someone younger or restart the Franchise over. I feel with this actor and his age fans will be able to get behind him for multiple films over the years.
Just my opinion Disney put that’s where I would start and 2, I would look at former DC actors that are now available since the whole section of DC just got dumped, maybe you should put them in at Marvel characters just a suggestion but what do I know. I’ve only been following both sides for almost 40+ years.

    1. Mike

Or, hear me out, Norman Osbourne, or Otto Octavius, or my boy Max Borne, or Miguel O’Hara, or Ezekiel Sims, or any of the other Spidermen they have in the comic line-up…oh wait, Miles is in there too.

  31. Cloud

This is so disrespectful to Spiderman. Ignorant. I am multi racial. I love Miles and his character development. But Peter is the standard. And it doesn’t help that the writing has been trashing Peter Parker so they can make way for Miles. They live in two different universes. You can do both. There doesn’t need to be a choice. The ones supporting Miles, are the same ones supporting Peter. Agenda writing at its worse.

  32. Thomas Vlach

I fell in love with Peter Parker when I was 10 (40 years ago) because he was the only one I could relate to. Mother figure always ill, constantly having money issues, bullied in school, and a lot of bad luck. He was the first kid I saw that was the hero, not a sidekick. My love for comics began because of Peter. I like Miles, he is a great character. Good development, however I would be very upset if Peter were replaced like a broken part.

  33. Gregohanhero

I hate this Peter Parker is Spiderman always no else can Spiderman but Peter Parker. Miles would never existed if Peter Parker was not Spiderman Peter Parker is Spiderman that’s it I don’t see next Iron Man movie having Victor Won Doom as Iron Man scene he was one during Tony coma.

  34. Once he puts on a costume, there’s no representation except as a hero.

  35. Chris

Stop minority and gender washing comics. Make new heros morons.

    1. Vox

      Learn English, moron.

  36. Skippy

    Boats and hoes

  37. Carlos

The fact that your saying that people are finding something with Miles is cute I’ll say Miles’s movies have been great but beyond the spider-verse is the last movie we’ll see about Miles since there has been no confirmation of a live action Miles adaptation or anything

  38. Jason

Peter Parker is Spiderman and really sad this woke nation is messing everything up and are turning into the biggest bullies on the planet. Make your own super hero and see how well it does in your own community.

  39. Bill Stewart

‘’It’s not that he’s replacing Peter Parker by any means, but that ‘’today’s audience is finding more representation with his successor.’’’’ If you say something enough times some people will believe you but for those of us who grew up reading both DC & Marvel Comics as kids there can be only one Peter Parker/Spider Man. Nothing that has never existed can replace that!!!

  40. DoTheMario

They took Spider-Man, made him black, and shipped him off.

  41. Brandon gustin

Peter is spiderman miles can be an super spiderman or some variant of him. That’s why his costume is completely different

    1. I prefer to call Miles ‘Kid Arachnid’ because that will always be his hero name!

  42. Paul

Personally if they are going in a different direction, I would much rather see a live action spiderman 2099 movie.

  43. There is only one Spider-Man: Peter Parker; no one else, not now, not ever!

  44. Mr fluffy

Disney does not own spiderman rights Sony does doubt they want to go the go woke get broke Disney route, they tried that it didn’t work out.

  45. M

Peter Parker IS Spider-Man, it’s not a mantle that can be passed.

  46. Graham

The only thing that you’ve got right is yes stop making Spiderman films with Peter Parker with the current leadership at marvel before they ruin him any further it comes to something when a game studio is putting more effort into their stories than marvel themselves

  47. Jose Ramirez

Yeah, dont get me wrong, I really like Miles, It Is a great character, but in no way, shape or form, Is better than Peter’s Spiderman, Peter Is Spiderman, period

  48. DadFoundMilk

Peter Parker is Spider-Man, except in the universes where he is not present. The only reason why some people want to have Miles be the Spider-Man is cause he’s black… cause representation.

I’m black, and I will gladly stay with Peter. Inclusivity/representation is ruining things that we love because its being done wrong. Look at Rings of Power for example. Bunch of “no” in there.

  49. Jato

About time….. The only way for a character to exist, is evolution. Into the spider verse should be Canon. They do it best.

  50. Jim

I say come up with your own superheroes and stop hijacking caucasion ones!

    1. Bob

Next it will be called Spider”them” or Spider”us”…

  51. Jim pentzil

Stop hijacking original characters and race replacing them. Come up with your own.

    1. Ethan Abbott

Exactly bro. You literally just changed his race. Because you are woke. You guys need to chill out. Create your own character.

  52. I don’t mind Peter AND Miles, they are both awesome characters, but Peter has suffered enough hardship in his life for one fracking lifetime! If they need someone to succeed Peter in the 616 universe, why not have it be a new Spider-Man from the ‘Windy City’ Chicago? I would name him Jason Skylark/The AWESOME Spider-Man!

  53. Ethan Abbott

I really think that would suck. I love Peter so much more than Miles and I think that Miles could never replace Peter. Miles is the sidekick not the original. Peter is always better. Just because there are variants of Spider-Man that are better at certain things, Peter will always be the only one decent at everything. He will always be superior to anyone else who tries to put on the mask of Spider-Man.

  54. Ethan Abbott

Thanks for clearing that up. They are filthy liars.

  55. Glen

Why does it need to be an “either/or” to begin with?

  56. Dave Rebele

Is there a Need to replace Peter Parker as Spiderman? I think Not! Don’t do it. Every time companies try to replace someone it backfires! I see absolutely No reason to replace or change a good thing for the last 61 years, do you?

  57. Zeno

Miles Morales being a minority doesn’t make him more representative of the audience. It makes him representative of a smaller portion of the audience. Besides, why do you think characters have to look like the audience for people to identify with them in the first place?

  58. David

Since Stan Lee passed, Marvel has gone down hill. Getting rid of Spider-Man is like Stan Lee never existed.
Wonder who they will replace him with?

  59. TheJuanandonly

I do not think this is very logical. Peter/Spider-Man is a mentor and friend to all other spider-man variants. Without him, wouldn’t the other Peter Parker variants be retired? Also, is there not a lot of diversity when it comes to variants? (Miguel is Hispanic, Miles is black, Spider-India is Indian, Peter is white, etc). Marvel shouldn’t retire spider-man. Just because Sony owns him doesn’t mean it is the end of the world. I do not think Steve Ditco and Stan Lee, the creators of spider-man, would be thrilled if both of them saw their child basically be put on the bench. It breaks my heart as a spidey fan to see this.

  60. Nain

I’d don’t think Pete would retire, it’s like if Bruce Wayne had to retire as Batman? but everyone still loves him and he still going in the comics and it’s true he’s the original Spiderman that started and became a Symbol for Marvel. who knows maybe if he’d might come back from retirement if the fans want him back?
