How does this work when each person requires a separate keycard to scan to enter each attractions express pass lane. Also if a room limits up to 6 per room they will not give 10 separate keycards. So what am missing with this hack?

Each guest gets a separate key. You get express on check in day and check out day so family of 5 would get 10 passes.

      1. Chuck

Same key. Still only 5 passes. At $775

No you arnt missing anything, the person they used for reference material is just clueless and wasteful with money . Max is 6 people per room they’d have to pay for two rooms to get 10 passes (tech up to 12 with two rooms)

While many think this is a unique way of getting over’ on the resort, pure and simple-it is theft.

It’s not theft, it’s an offered amenity. They are just being dumb paying for two hotels in one night.. if they were smart the would book one night for premier and then go to their other hotel for the rest of the stay if they only want two days of express that’s the best option. But to pay for a room and not stay in it and then pay for another hotel… your just dull in the head lmfao

Universal gives an Express Pass to each registered guest at one of the three premium hotels for the day of check-in plus the day of check-out (plus any additional full days you are staying at the premium resort). Many rooms have limited capacity (e.g., two adults and two children). Any additional guests are charged extra. Everyone knows that you only have to pay for the room to get the Express Pass. Very few guests actually purchase the Express Pass.

These people didn’t utilize this benefit, in the most beneficial way. They paid at least $500 when adding taxes…then the cost of their offsite room. Stay in the room, save the $325…and utilize early entry and the water taxis…they would also be paying for parking at the park. Definitely an amateur fail.

  5. Yeah the article says the length of your trip. As others point out. It’s the day you check in and the day you check out and any days in between. So one night gets you two days of express pass. But two nights only gets 3 The guy who said this is stealing is dumb. That’s like saying using coupons is stealing. This is a negotiated benefit between the resort and universal and you pay for it. It happens to be cheaper than buying outright.

My family usually does 1 night in one of these resorts and then goes “commando” for those two days. Then the rest of the trip we just relax at a bigger room like a Cabana bay family room.

This is so dumb. These scenarios don’t even make sense to pay for the one night and not stay there. The “hack” is just simply staying there one night to get two days of unlimited express passes for your check-in and check-out day. Then move on to a different hotel after that, or stay maybe two nights to get three days of the unlimited expresss pass. But, clearly dumb to book it as a dummy room. What a waste of money! However, keep in mind as some have pointed out, your room rate will increase based on number of guests in room b/c you are getting more express passes. I think the limit is 2 adults and 1 or 2 children before the rate increases.
However, all that being said, you aren’t cheating the system, you are using the resort offering for as many nights that you can afford or that makes sense for your family. You aren’t cheating the system.

The first example by HBO dude is dumb. You paid for a room, why pay for another room. I went back in September stayed on-site for 1 night and off-site for 2 nights. Used express for the day of check in (arrived before park opened, they held our bags and gave us the room cards) and next morning checked out while they held our bags. After we left park picked up our bags and went to the off-site hotel for another 2 nights. Went to park next day just to buy things we missed and just had a more relaxing day going between parks (sadly during our whole time there Hogwarts express was non-operational). Checked out of off site hotel next day and went to airport.

The room has a maximum number of 5 people. You can not get 10 passes. You get 5 for 2 days to clarify. All people need to be present to do photo. Universal is aware. Their reservation people know. I’m sure some change or update will be coming down the line. But they still make money on the one night so it’s not a big loss to them. It’s not theft. It’s a loophole that’s been around for awhile and has yet to be closed. I prefer to stay at that resort but to each their own!
