First, let me say that I think DeSantis is the worst thing to happen to Florida.
Secondly, this “fight” he has with Disney is the most politically ridiculous thing I’ve seen. Chapek issued a statement that could have been worded better but was well within the constitutional rights to do so. DeSantis, being the little authoritarian he is, decided that hurt his little political feelings and lashed out against the company to hurt them in any was possible….so, being the little authoritarian he is, he set out to punish Disney by hitting them in the wallet. But, then lied and said it’s Disney’s fault because they started it. (Disney made a constitutionally protected statement)Then, Tiny D lied and said taxpayers would not be paying for any of this. Well, now taxpayers are paying for all the attorney fees for the counter lawsuit Tiny D filed against Disney.
Now, Tiny D says this is all about a “level playing field”. Total crap. First off, there are over 2,000 special tax districts in Florida. Interesting how Disney is the only one he’s after. Secondly, Mr Iger just stated that Disney was looking to invest $17B into Florida in the next decade adding 13,000 new jobs….i.e. probably opening another park. Now, Mr Iger has sent a clear message, Disney might just rethink the plan.
So what has Tiny D accomplished?? Pissing off the largest single employer in the state, hurting taxpayers and proving himself to be the Tiny D authoritarian he is.
Disney hasn’t changed, nor will they change their business model. Nor should they. Republicans are supposed to be pro capitalism, pro business and small government……Tiny D is none of those. He’s nothing but a bully who loves the 2nd amendment but despises the first….unless you agree with him. A true leader invites different points of view…..a true leader is confident in their decisions. Not this guy. Disagree with him and he will use every ounce of political power he has to destroy you. He’s the poster child of what NOT to be.

Name a state, that would allow Disney to move to that would allow Disney to act as their own country. There is none.
You do know that there are hundreds of these special districts all over Florida alone. There is one for the Villages, Daytona beach raceway, etc. Silly to think another state wouldn’t allow them to have the same arrangement when they pay over $1 billion in taxes . . .
