@”While students deserve to celebrate their graduation and their successes…” Successes? Graduating high school? No, that is a requirement. Anyone with a pulse can graduate high school these days. Let’s get these grads out of Disneyland and avoid their disrespectful and disruptive behavior.
Grad Nite, when I graduated from an Orange County high school in 1973, was a 10pm-to-6am “lock-in” private party; if you left early, it was in a police car or an ambulance. Disney Security was out in force, and troublemakers just quietly disappeared from the guests area, losing the rest of their event (some were banned from the park).
Most of the problems stem from the changes Disney has made to enhance their revenue, abandoning more and more of Walt’s vision.
They need to go back to the way it used to be handled.
Proper dress code and make it a lock in event after regular park hours. It was fun getting dressed up and being able to enjoy disneyland throughout the night in a private event.
Years ago we had saved for many years to take her five year old daughter to Orlando. We did not know that it was Grad week the entire time we were there. That meant the park closed at 6 o’clock for us and the grads got the park from 6 to 3 AM in the morning. there were loud bands, was screaming, yelling all night long ; it was just horrible. I cried the entire time we therein the evenings! I tried sleeping in the bathtub to get away from the noise (that didn’t work) as we were staying at the Contemporary hotel and the marching parades were like right under our window! Every day there were people down at the front desk complaining by the hundreds!! Now days at you can check your phones to see what is going on in the park back then they didn’t have such a thing, but the reservation desk should’ve told us!!
To me Grad Night dates are like additional block-out dates for the Magic Key annual pass. The two weeks in December and various days in the summer. I absolutely won’t go when there’s a Grad night. I’ll have to remember that when it’s time to decide if I want to renew.

Some traditions are better off gone, grad nite is one of them.
