Most of the changes made at Disneyworld have turned our family off. The reservation system, elimination of the fast pass etc. We went from having season passes to Disney (we live in Illinois) from not going there anymore. We would use fastpass prior to visiting on the App and schedule which rides we wanted for free. Re: the reservations we would pick the park we wanted to visit based on the lines once we got there using park hopper.. Big turn off not being able to get to a 2nd park until 2PM when at times that park closes at 6PM. Disney was expensive enough without all the extras they now charge for. The park now costs more to attend than the airfare and hotel to get there. It has become the park of the rich and famous.
I agree with you totally. For those who have never been, they have no idea. One article says they lowered the ticket price, next article says the Genie+ went up?? To equal out the loss for the ticket price? They really think people are dumb.
I agree. We live in Ohio and went from going 3-4 times a year to not at all for 3 years now. We had the passes that were good for both California and Florida (which is no more). We did the same as you re fast passes. We wish they would bring back fast passes and drop the Genie crap.
We were living in Indiana at the time & also had season passes, same options as you. We now in Ga & haven’t been for 5 yrs. So disappointing how it has all changed.
It is the disappearance of Walt Disney’s dream as it is becoming a place where only wealthy families can have fun. If you don’t have the extra money to buy into the reservation system, then you pay for a ticket and can end up only going on a couple of rides. How can that be fun family time? Disney you need to think about the purpose of WDW, and get back to your roots.
So glad I never bought DVC. Like so many, once upon a time we were annual passholders, even though we live in Massachusetts. The changes are a complete turn off and we have not been back since we had to start booking our attraction times. No spontaneity, no fun, just a rigorous agenda that makes with look the the vacation. That said, Universal has really impressed us and feel the value is much better and the time more enjoyable.
We purchased DVC and it was the best decision. Before we would have never stayed at a Disney resort, now we stay at the resorts. The resorts in my opinion are probably 50% of the vacation. I can’t comment on the new system since this Christmas will be our first trip back since Christmas 2019. Not looking forward to having to be connected to my phone starting at 7am each morning and throughout the day.
We have been going to wow for years but hate the reservation system and genie plus and lightning lane fees. We loved the fast pass that Disney had in the past. It is expensive enough for a Disney vacation without all the add ons . Bring back the magic and fun.
I have a family of 15 went WDW in 2017 loved it. We went back in 2022 and hated it. You spend to much time on your phone trying to get rides for 15 people in your family and you miss everything in the park because you spend to much time on your phone. Disney is not for big families with a lot of people and kids. Especially when you travel so far to get to WDW. Please bring back the old Fast Pass system and dining reservations that was the best. Aloha
Fast pass much better. I have been going to Disney Orlando since 1983. And I have seen many changes. Mostly good. But genie is not one of them and you know it. Fastpass was great.
I totally agree with everyone here. The Genie, and lightning lane add ons, are a total ripoff!! The reservation system & park change at 2pm are complete turn-off. Apparently, Disney isn’t really listening to it’s guests. I honestly, had a better time at Universal Studios. (Island of Adventure)
WDW was once the True Magical Experience of the World. Now we can classify it as the BIGGIST RIP OFF Disney could have. As a true Disney fan for over 40 years my family have not set foot in your park since 2019. Normally we have gone two or three times a year to enjoy the park. With your ridiculous ticket increases and pay as you go LIGHTLING Passes we passed and rather go to Universal for Fun. Please bring my favorite Park back.
Bring back the FastPass. FastPass had it’s problems, but Genie+ and Lightning Lanes are horrible. Disney already charges an exorbitant price to enter the parks. They need to make it a great experience for all guests again, and not just a select few. The wealthy can always book the VIP tours.
Have gone to orlando every few years fron the UK . Went last Nov and was a nightmare at Disney. So expensive and couldn’t even get on everything. Will just go to universal seaworld and busch gardens next time
We were once insanely devoted to Disney! Never did I think this devotion could be shaken. It was certainly expensive but well worth it until our visit last year. No need to tell this group the reasons. It sounds like we are all on the same page. It’s still very unfortunate.
all those years we went and saw families eating brought in cold cut sandwiches for lunch because they saved for years so they can give their children the WDW Magic experience and what about those families now? they can’t afford to pay extra to get on the good attractions, there is no mire Magic at Disney, so so sad and a total disgrace
We have been going to WDW since 1979, we have lost count of the visits, has to be over 70 times, I’ll just say this, bring back the fast pass system, park passes are already pricey enough and the fast pass was better
We hate with a passion Genie+ and have not been back since the first time we had to use it 2021. We keep looking and start to plan a trip but then stop remembering that we barely got to go on any of the rides we wanted. That trip was a complete wast of a lot of hard earned money. Until this particular feature is changed for the better and free then we won’t be back. Last thing I want to do on my vacation is stress over getting ride reservations and looking at my phone ALL day long even while I’m in line at a ride. I want to disconnect from my phone and enjoy my family time. We truly are a Disney family but with the “other” Bob he made Disney into a greedy money hungry machine AND Disney lost its magic!
We always went to Disney World every other year and the last time was May 2019. Since the pandemic and all the changes to the fast pass system (Genie +) and all the extra fees, no transportation from the airport (Magical Express) we have not been back! I’ve been going to Disney World since 1988 and they always gave you extras with your vacation packages, but that stopped many, many years ago. It is a every expensive vacation especially now and I don’t plan on going back until they make this a “Magical Experience”!
We started MK on 11/71 and fell in love with Disney. Over the years we flew there 4 to 6 times a year, some visits of only 3 days. When our vacation days at work grew to 5 weeks a year we flew to Disney at least 10 times per year mostly staying at Value Resorts since we are rope droppers and stay in the parks until closing. After cancelling our annual passes during the Pandemic and returning to the Disney bubble we sadly stay off property in Westgate Resorts for almost $100+- than the cheaper Value Resorts. We now have an address in Florida and condidered as residents so the Pixie passes work for all around cost savings over the old Platnium pass. We drive 10 minutes to a Premium Deluxe Resort rather than stand for 45 minutes waiting for a Disney bus having to stand all the way to a Value resort. Not for seniors. Our resort savings now pays for a sit down dinner, snacks or more clothes or possibly a scooter very soon. Please consider options and yuor Disney vacay can be much less and planning is the key to visit the mouse and not owe the bank for years to come. Bless you.
Comments for Disney Significantly Raises Genie+ Price at Walt Disney World

Going in June and already dread having to navigate Genie+. Too much stress, first and only trip we will ever take to Disney World!

For the most part GENIE+ is a waste of money. I paid for it once and will never do it again.

I hate Genie+; elitist and unfair to families who’ve saved so long and then have to pay more to get on rides they really already paid for.
Bring back FREE Fast Pass system. It was fair and equitable.

Please bring back fast pass. I would gladly pay a fee for each of the three passes but keep it reasonable ( $7 or $8 each).

Disney should treat WDW like a cash cow, and expand in CA and other states where they are welcomed.
