OMG Y’all so pathetic and miserable!! Please be quiet and let the babies enjoy the movie, The kids love everything you adults keep complaining about 😡 JUST KEEP MISERY AT YOUR HOME 🏡
Not gonna lie, just listened to this song after reading it. And she doesn’t do any accent? If you don’t like her – that’s fine but don’t claim she’s doing stuff she isn’t in this particular song.
The author was quoting a Twitter users tweet in which they complained about her rapping and referred to her as “little miss blackccent”. This is actually is a combination of the words”black” & “accent”, & is a really derogatory/racist term to use when describing a person of color. Specifically it usually is referencing the AAVE style of speaking (African American Vernacular English). The author was not actually claiming that she used an accent. But to be frank, I’m shocked that the author included such a vile tweet to quote from in this article in the first place and horrified that they didn’t even attempt the censor the slur word. Whatever editor that allowed that quote to slip past them before publishing made a massive mistake
Hate to break it to you but even some of the children don’t even like this movie! You must be one of thoseeee parents that like things changed to new woke agendas. They should have kept to the Disney script as was in the original cartoon these children ORIGINALLY WATCHED!
If you really want to be a purist and stick to the original source material, then the Little Mermaid needs to die at the end becoming sea foam. Don’t cry about how Disney is changing things again because in fact Disney did change things in the first place!
I love how adults are complaining about how Disney is messing with their “childhood memories”. If you’d actually stop and think instead of letting your bigotry run wild, you’d know that you are not children any more and you are not the target audience. You had your time as children, let the next generations have their time. It’s very selfish of you trying to ruin good experiences for children.
All of these comments truly have nothing to do with the quality of the movie. All I really hear is just hate, a need to hate successful Latinos and Asians and Disney. A need to find a reason to use your hate to cancel something else. At some point you need to get psychiatric help for all these negative emotions that define you so you can actually put them behind you and move on with living a happy and healthy life. It’s just a movie.
I’m still excited for May 26th and I actually like Scuttle’s and Sebastian’s song and there is a purpose for it if you listen closely to the lyrics it’s basically Scuttle telling Ariel that Eric wants to marry and it’s before she finds out that Vanessa has Eric under her spell since she has Ariel’s voice in her seashell necklace So That’s my take on the song I think it’s fun one and it’s only 2 mins long so people need to relax and stop slamming Aquafina for her performance I think she did a good job imho Have a Blessed Sunday
Sorry to disagree. While I too tire of LMM’s songs all sounding alike…my main complaint is that I always like them! They’re always fun and cleverly advance the plot. No I didn’t see the original animation or stage version. That’s why I took my 38 year old niece and her daughter, my 16 year old grand niece-both huge fans of the original. Well they LOVED it. They missed some songs but liked some of the new elements,.too. My grand niece said she can’t wait to see it with your friends. The whole cast was amazing. GREAT vocals. Yes- Awkwafina included. Scuttlebutt is gratingly catchy and cute. Curse you LMM!
Let all of us who grew up w the older Disney movies from the 70’s,80’s and 90’s just enjoy the movie w out all of the complaining of what’s missing and and what’s been added. I bet it’s going to be great!
Hi I’m 12, and I can surely say I don’t want to watch this remake of The little mermaid. It’s not even the little mermaid. And I don’t understand why she had to be black! Why couldn’t they make an entire different mermaid, for example like Spiderman: enter the spider verse; they didn’t make spider man black, they made an entire different spider man!
Sorry- this woke trash needs to be tossed in the garbage where it belongs. Laughable at best. A rap? Lol, defend this as much as you want; it’s a bomb.
I just think it’s sad that Disney is allowing all these movies to be changed that us 70s and 80s babies grew up on. I want be watching it. Walt Disney would not be happy if he knew all this was going on with his original ideas. Any of them including the rides being changed and other things
As A 90s Baby I Can Honestly Say That I’ve Watched All The Originals & Remakes. Yes, They’re Good But I Don’t Want To Continue Watching A Storyline I Know Every Inch Of. It’s Time For Something New.
Honestly, I had no desire to see the movie because I’ve grown tired of the live action remakes, but hearing that a new song has been added (and that Daveed Diggs is the voice of Sebastian) has peaked my interest. I’m guessing the addition of a new song was added for that reason: to give people a reason to go see an unnecessary live action remakes of a classic Disney movie. Also, Awkwafina doesn’t employ any accent when she sings the song.
It’s 2023 & People Are Pressed About Changes In A Kids Movie. If The Changes Aren’t Negative/Inappropriate What Are We Mad For.? Honestly It’s Sad & I Don’t Understand The Issue. As A Disney Fan Who’s Watched Most Disney Originals & Countless Remakes, I’m Not At All Mad That They’re Giving Us Something DIFFERENT. Watching The Same Remakes Over & Over Gets Old & Boring. If YOU Have A Problem Then YOU & Your Child Simply Shouldn’t Watch It, Problem Solved. There Are Countless Movies That Ion Recommend But I’m Not Online Nagging On About It. So All The Empty Complaints, Threats & Bullying Is Ridiculous, Just Grow Up.

Or… Disney should have made the original HCA story where the Little Mermaid dies. That would have been a better lesson for kids!
Scott

It is your right not to take your children

Kids haven’t seen this movie yet.. it doesn’t get released for another 5-ish days…
Glen Roberts
Sounds terrible but why would that be a surprise. The live action remakes have been pretty terrible overall.
Molly
It’s a bummer the sisters aren’t getting a song. I was really crossing fingers for ‘Shes in love’ to make it in.

It’s pathetic how people are getting triggered over a movie. Some people just need to chill and deal with it.

Pretty sure that, as far as movies go… He didn’t have many original ideas. The were pretty much just adaptations.

The movie sucks and is completely unnecessary. End of story.
