What kind of question is that? You must be under 40 to even ask that. Of course he should be held accountable for his actions. Isn’t that type of thinking the problem with youth today. No accountability!!!
This was Carowinds not Disney. But you’d know that if you read, but also regardless of value theft is theft. Plus it was probably the game where there is electronics in it doubt the teen wanted a stuffed animal.
Yes ! Not only was he potentially injuring himself on purpose, he was damaging property and attempting to steal. Where were his “guardians”, they should be held accountable as well.
Sending the youngster to reform school until age 23 for burglary would have been fitting for the troublemaker. Doing 10 years in reform school would teach this smart ass a lesson in stealing. He got exactly what he deserved for his antics. A youngster would be charged with commercial burglary in California and be committed to the California Youth Authority until age 21.
General Grievous~~ Uh, no. He wanted the toys and he tried to get them, his way. He needs to learn now, not later when the cops do the job of punishment. But I think you know that. Just trying to get a rise outta us.
I think he should have to work at Carowinds for one year get paid but his pay is to be given to a charity like ST.JUDES CHILDRENS HOSPITAL AND HE GETS ENOUGH FOR A TANK OF GAS for his car let him learn that summer how much it takes to earn a dollar to fix something someone brakes or steels just for the fun of it.
Old enough to know better!!! 1 year ban… he’s getting off easy. There should have been more serious repercussions for his actions. Community service would have been a great option, or service at the theme park cleaning up trash, restrooms,..etc
Yes the park was absolutely in the right and should have banned him for life. The problem with teens these days are made or held responsible for their actions and behavior as they should be consequences need to be felt by teen attempting to steal no excuse for doing that!
Really he should be doing community service or worse. And the only punishment he got was being banned for a year. Noone holds kids really accountable these days
Absolutely, they did the correct thing. In fact, this young boy is lucky charges were not filed against him. He tried to steal. Fortunately, he got caught and no harm came to him or the claw machine.
All parks everywhere should adapt a policy of no unchaperoned children under 18 years old. Parents are too busy with their own thing to worry about their children’s behavior. Everyone thinks their kids do no wrong. If kids are not taught right from wrong growing up and that there are consequences, we will continue to have these problems. They have only gotten worse over the 72 years I have been living. And yes, I have raised children and they were punished for wrongdoing.
They did the right thing he made a mistake that was stupid how many of you haven’t done something stupid like this except his was a little worse not even close to as bad as some teens do this day and just look at what was happening at Kings Island when a 17 year old tried to bring a GUN into the park the same day he did something wrong yes and was banned for a year he is doing his time for something as small as it is you can’t destroy someone’s life over it and damigine him for life if the police had to come Wich the park police were probably there and can press charges if they wanted to but they didn’t for a reason everyone is making way to big of a deal out of this
I have 5 kids and I would never allow my kids to disrespect others or a place of business. With that said I feel he should be banned indefinitely and his parents should pay a fine. It’s not okay to steal. It’s not okay to destroy anything that does not belong to you even a 2$ claw game. It’s not okay for these teens to do whatever they want. A lot of parents I see do not disapline their kids and this is the behavior that is a result of a lack of parenting. It’s not a theme parks job to have to babysit especially teens who know better.
He should have to have attempted theft charge too with monetary, physical labor such as community service, and at least 5yr ban. That would make people think twice.

Angie
You are totally correct. Should have been banned for 5 years, most people only come once a year anyway
Barbara
People go way more than once a year. That’s the problem with Carowinds- it has become a babysitter for parents to dump their kids.
Dangercane

Jannie Mae Graves-Giles
Yes they did. It should’ve been for longer than a year.
Linda Christine Herold-Hocking
agree 100%
Phil
The police should have been called, charges filed and the parents sued for any damages!
Jordan
I agree, no matter the colour or race of the teenager. No exceptions.
K. Brown
I feel as thro the right thing was differently done.
Suzanne Taylor
Yes!! This was the right course of action.
Michael Stallings
Absolutely correct, keep the trash out and you don’t have maggots.
Ginger
In my humble opinion, he should have also been put on garbage disposal, cleaning up all the bubble gum people have a tendency to step in.
K
Yes ! Not only was he potentially injuring himself on purpose, he was damaging property and attempting to steal. Where were his “guardians”, they should be held accountable as well.
Linda Christine Herold-Hocking
I agree!
Kim
The teen should be banned for life. He was attempting to steal and the claw machine arrested him!
Joe
He should have been arrested and prosecuted

I totally agree with the previous comments, except he should have been banned for 5+ years.
Diane
Ofcourse he should be banned for a year. Considering his age he ought to pick up trash for a week at or around the park.
Diane Leonard
Ofcourse he should be banned for a year. Considering his age he ought to pick up trash for a week at or around the park.
General Grievous
I don’t think he was trying to steal anything from the machine, Disney needs to chill out over a $2 claw game.
Barb
General Grievous~~ Uh, no. He wanted the toys and he tried to get them, his way. He needs to learn now, not later when the cops do the job of punishment. But I think you know that. Just trying to get a rise outta us.
Christine
And it didn’t happen in Disney!! Why don’t you try learning how to read first before making comments
Linda Christine Herold-Hocking
NOT Disney!! NO chilling out, stealing is a crime.
S
Why did you repeatedly capitalize the word guest?
Cathy
Who ever was with him also should be banned up to five years!
Anita Hicks

“…For his car”??? He’s 13! Nice try and idea, tho’. I get it.

“I would have let the little fella have a time-out in the claw machine for at least 12 hours w/ VIP privaleges for the parents while they wait…😉
Barb
Smiles! Not a bad idea! I love that!
Linda Christine Herold-Hocking
HMMMMMMMMM, maybe make him clean bathroom for a week.
Steven
Uphold all rules in the park ” For Everyone” ! And you will see things improve.
Barb
I’ve seen parents/adults encourage bad behavior for their kids. Why do they want to make their kids social OUTCASTS?!? I’m not getting it…
Deb
Really he should be doing community service or worse. And the only punishment he got was being banned for a year. Noone holds kids really accountable these days
Linda Christine Herold-Hocking
I agree! My parents always gave double punishment if they found out from someone other than me that I did something wrong.
Jannie Mae Graves-Giles
Yes they did. It should’ve been for longer than a year.
Andrea
Absolutely, they did the correct thing. In fact, this young boy is lucky charges were not filed against him. He tried to steal. Fortunately, he got caught and no harm came to him or the claw machine.
