As someone who is in oklahoma i’ve always wondered why Disney has never opened a theme park in texas or oklahoma. I know everyone is like well because of the weather but land and energy is so cheap in texas . Plus with radiant heating technology / geothermal during the winter they could keep the parks mostly warm along walkways with half covered porch designs. During summer a swamp cooler could be used. There are really only 4 or so months out of every year they might have weather related problems for heating or cooling. The possibilities are basically endless and a new disney park could tap into solar resources. Its a pipedream i guess but i would drive to texas multiple times a year to go to a disney park. It really needs to happen. Texas would be perfect !

And i’m not saying close disneyworld. I say keep it open but tap into the middle of the country. I have not been to Disney world in 19 years because of the commitment it takes to lose work and business at my company. If i just needed to travel to texas that would be easy. I could do a weekend Disney getaway trip.

That’s because Oklahoma and Texas are horrible states. I have lots of family in both states, that’s how I know.

    3. Teddy Gingerich

I’m not a huge fan of Texas politically, but honestly if they did relocate (pipe dream, indeed), I’d be up for the Lone Star state. Its weather isn’t any worse than Florida’s; in fact it’s a bit drier, even in the more humid areas. Hurricanes are far less likely to have any effect, and that area of Texas isn’t likely to have tornado issues. And while both states are firmly red politically, and while I really don’t care for their most prominent politicians, it is at this moment a much more Disney business friendly area. DeSantis has let a small comment by the CEO of a privately owned business make him absolutely crazy. His tantrum-throwing, revenge-oriented behavior is undermining the ability for the company to tackle THEIR more pressing issues – like staffing and fair wages.
I do wish they could just magically spirit the entire 25,000 acres and all the infrastructure somewhere else.

with texas politics, no way. ol greg abbott is just a one or two baby steps behind desantis. even liberal cities like houston and austin are having their rights stripped by small republican voting bodies hundreds of miles away. texas is just getting sicker, probably the last place disney would go

WWWOOOOWWWWW One liberal judge in Texas – who by the way should not be injecting himself into politics – says move to Texas. Its OVER for Disney in Florida. So Corporations who are only good pure and angelic can do and say anything about government leaders and move to thwart the legislative agenda – (which was elected by the will of the people) and government which are always evil can do nothing to corporation. So why then are all woke liberals applauding all the unconstitutional things Joe Biden is doing? just sayin

    1. Bart

You make absolutely no sense. Term limits will cure Florida’s problem.

      1. Shut down till governor apologizes and undoes the mess he has made.

    2. K

      Just saying dumb stuff…

    3. Jay

Did you ask for a lobotomy or did you just draw the x on the wrong cheek.

  3. Ken

Wouldn’t spend money at any Disney park anymore. Build it wherever for the woke folks.

    1. Bort

Woke. Is THAT all you got?!

      1. Stick it to Desantis Mickey

        1. Rita

DiSantis is a real wacjjob. Disney brings more business to Fla. Than any other company. The people are going to have to pick up the tax bill that Disney is paying just because of the wacjjob governor.

      2. Not a sheep

        That’s all you are.

    2. Adam

That is great news. So glad I woke up. Why don’t you and MAGA just continue too sleep it off.

I dont think WDW is going anywhere. I never supported going into China and building two amusement parks. If anything another park in the central US. I would suggest that Disney take advantage of these state offerings to build more DVC resort properties. They do not have nearly enough to support DVC members at other locations. Hoping they read this suggestion!!!!

    1. franklin

Right. I’m sure that one random anonymous comment will make a huge corporation change their entire planning schedule for new DVC locations. Why have we not thought of doing this sooner?

    2. jish55

Right now, no, but it does give Disney a viable reason to move beyond the rising ocean levels, which in 50 years, Disney will need to up and move anyway or else deal with Florida sinking.

  5. Adam

I for one will NOT visit Disney’s Park in Florida even if Disney were to offer to pay all expenses.
    Nope not a chance.
If Florida is willing to attack the biggest tax payer in the state because of their beliefs, I’m certain they would find a way to attack me.
    Sorry, no dice.
Did I mention that I am an EX Florida resident.

    1. Me

It’s one self-centered jackass in Florida, not the state of Florida. You know what, the one jerk we call Governor here is more than enough, please don’t come to Florida

  6. Rita

DiSantis is a real wacjjob. Disney brings more business to Fla. Than any other company. The people are going to have to pick up the tax bill that Disney is paying just because of the wacjjob governor.

  7. Not a sheep

Liberal hissy fits are so funny.

If they did go through with this move, I’m hoping they give Arizona a shot. We don’t have that many major theme parks around here. With Mattel getting their first park, I think this could be the beginning of a new era. It’s starting to gain more revenue than before. So who knows?

    1. Teddy Gingerich

Arizona resident here. It would never happen. I’m old enough to remember (and have gone to) Legend City, our attempt at a theme park. It’s TOO hot here in the 8 month long summer for a major park to work. I’d love it (no more 6 hour drive to Anaheim), but it’s not possible.

    2. jish55

I doubt they’d go to Arizona due to how close Disneyland is. If Disney is gonna move WDW somewhere else, it’s gonna be to a location that has at least a good thousand mile distance from an existing park to get more possible tourism in both instead of fighting for which park will get more tourists.

This is why I see Disney building in either the Pacific Northwest where they can benefit off of Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver BC, and Boise (and yes, the weather will be easy enough for them to handle since they’re used to cold weather thanks to Disneyland Paris). The other place I see Disney moving too is the Atlantic Northeast due to having New York, Phili, Boston, Toronto, DC, and Baltimore.

What’s really troubling is that Disney would rather move to another state, than to address concerns that its new guard promotes the sexual exploitation of children.

I thought mostly everyone was on the same page about that, especially in the wake of the abuse and cover-up scandals the Catholic Church faced.
As far as I recall, the Catholic Church experienced (& rightfully so) serious repercussions as a result.

The real question we should be asking:
If any Disney employee faces any potential criminal charge against a minor in connection with the employee’s employment, is Disney trying to flee to another state, in an attempt to evade the authorities?

I read some of the quotes by the creepers representing Disney these days, and regardless of political affiliation, the overall message should definitely be concerning to any thinking, rational human being.
I am astounded that kind of rhetoric would be coming from individual(s) reportedly authorized to speak on behalf of The Walt Disney Company.

I’m not even sure if I’m a fan of DeSantis, but he seems to be right about the Disney debacle–at least, more so than Team Disney. The fact he’s willing to take up that argument is commendable.

Disney should probably should rethink its business model, hiring practices, and etc., before it tries to dodge possible legal action.

    1. Teddy Gingerich

I would totally love actual proof that the Disney company in any form or fashion is promoting the sexual exploitation of children. If all you have is the eternal whine about the fact that the company is very inclusive (and getting better as it gets older), then please just stop.

      1. Gary

Lets see Woke wanted little ones from Kindergarten to 3rd grade have sex ed. Next how about all those Drag queens in school rooms all grades I think woke had their fingers in that too. How about all these Trans. folks to include kids same goes. At Disney it got to where Castmembers could not call a little boy, little boy or a little girl a little girl. How about the little girl dressed as a princess Castmembers could not call them Princess any more Woke had a hand in that too. And unisex bathrooms was pushed by Woke and how many guys assaulted women there. If a guy want to be a woman off would come the penus in such a way it could never be put back So that are some of the things Teddy.

  10. Gary

It would be a very dumb move by Disney and if they did it they would realize it too late. They for the most part have the ideal climate & people were coming to Florida before Disney in droves. So all Disney has to do is wise up get rid of the GARBAGE that is influencing Disney and get back on Walt’s PLAN!

  11. jimbo

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,
How about Disney stay out of state politics, discuss with the great governor of Florida plans going forward, pay their bills, fix their business model to get back to a family oriented entertainment business. Stop the gender propaganda. Take care of their cast members. Take care of the parks. They are planning on laying off 7000 so they sure are not in a position to pack up Cinderella’s castle and move. They paid an outgoing CEO 20 million. They have not been doing any of the paying customers a solid. Prices are not adjusting for inflation, they are above and beyond.

    1. Gary

Way to go Jimbo you hit it right in the button and Walt would be proud of you!

  12. Patricia

Florida is to hot & humid.. Virginia—South Carolina— a State alittle more North would be more comfortable. And No One Wants to go to the state of Florida with all the grief from the political climate. I want to visit a HAPPY VACATION SITE..

  13. Joyce

Disney should MOVE! Show him what it’s like not to have the largest attraction draw in FL to not appreciate. FL owes over 50 years of tourism to Disney not to mention they are the biggest taxpayer in this state.

  14. Dee

As a Texan, I would love to have Disney come here (a shorter drive for me). We are getting a Universal Theme Park, after all. But I am curious about the land that DeSantis wants to take…….in the deal Walt made, to purchase the Florida land, there is to be thousands of acres set aside for wildlife/not used or developed. So how can DeSantis #1: take it?, #2 build on it?

    1. jish55

Nah, Disney won’t go to Texas which would pull the same crap DeSantis pulled on them. If Disney is going anywhere, it’s gonna build in a more left leaning state as well as build in a local close to major cities that obtain a lot of foot traffic.

  15. HARVEY BERGER

It’s time. That DeSantis puts on his big boy pants
And understand how important Disneyland is to fla.
His ego needs to be downsized
He is playing games with a mighty big company
The mouse will be here long after his demise
He will definitely not get my vote for president.

    1. JoeAmerican2065

You support sexual discussions with elementary school children eh? You’re a sick freak.

  16. JoeAmerican2065

    Relocate? LOL. Never happen.

  17. jish55

If Disney does leave Florida and build WDW somewhere else, it’ll be either in the Pacific Northwest or the Atlantic Northeast where they are in more left leaning states, but more importantly, located in areas with many high populated cities and major high foot traffic. Add in that Disney has enough experience with cold, rain, and snow, and the weather isn’t a major issue, where they’d just focus on more indoor rides.

  18. Gwendolyn

I think Mr. Iger should realistically start to explore other options in states that are more willing to work with him and not try to destroy Disneyworld. Don’t choose Texas or Oklahoma they are both in lock step if not slowly behind DeSantis.
