Why does Disney have this rule? Because adults wearing costumes that are not castmembers cannot be regulated. What if your child ran up to a guest dressed as Merida, and the guest was not kind to your enthusiastic little one? That would be terrible. That’s why they have the rule.
Well that and the teenagers / early twenty year olds that wear tight shorts and in the case of the women that wear shirts that look like their boobs are going to pop out.
Sorry but I cannot agree with the mom. They have these rules in place for a reason. You are not the exception to the rule. Please do not teach your children that they are above following rules/regulations. Sorry cannot bring myself to boycott Disney.
You make sick! This is why we autistics cannot get acceptance in this world. It’s because cold hearted neurotypical jerks like you. Would you all be happier if we all stayed at home?
It never ceases to amaze me that the “advocates” for the disabled who preach “normalization” then turn around and ask for special considerations. I worked in the field for 40 years and there was a marked turn in attitudes over the years of parents who thought their kids being disabled meant that these kids were entitled to EVERYTHING and demanded it now or we’ll sue. Too bad as most of the kids were fantastic people – with Atilla the Huns.
There is a difference between “Disney bounding” and going for professional costume including the face. Take off the face part, that makes this look professional, and there would be no problem.
Instead, she goes full Karen mode saying boycott Disney, then uses the excuse that her son is autistic and implies that he NEEDS to do this to enjoy himself. Seriously? Sounds like they just wanted the attention to me.
Your kid with autism doesn’t hold water.
I have an autistic brother and am a PSW for adults and children with disabilities and none of these people want total strangers coming up to them. In fact, you’ll find, they don’t like crowds. Taking a kid with autism to a place like Disney is so overstimulating they likely to go ape shit crazy. I don’t buy it. I will buy that you’re entitled and don’t think rules apply to you. Not to mention, you were asked to stop having pictures taken. You refused so they escorted you to a location where you could have all the pictures taken with strangers you want.
Implying autistic people can’t go to and enjoy theme parks is pretty nonsense of you, just so you know. Plenty of us love theme parks. Plenty of us also enjoy interaction with people, strangers or otherwise.
This mom is absolutely in the wrong, but so is your way of thinking here.
I spent $12,000 dollars. Like it matters? You broke the rules. They offered you a break. You refused. They should have kicked you out. A boycott for a person that can’t follow basic rules. Nope!
Totally agree. I’d never go somewhere like that because the whole point is to immerse yourself in the fandom. It’s also much cheaper to enjoy a con where everyone cosplays.
Seems they gave you a the option to remain in the Park
. You chose to be adamant in your resolve. THIS, cost you and your family a fun day. Not the other way around.

You have no idea what it’s like to be autistic then. Do you know what it’s like to live in this world as an autistic?

“I’m going to boycott because I refuse to follow the rules” is the most initialed thing ever. Besides, Mario is the other park 🤷♀️

No offense, rules are rules. If we let one person go they are not rules, then they are guidelines
