Which is kind of unfortunate since AOS included events/characters from the MCU (infiltration/collapse of SHIELD by HYDRA, Lady Sif, Thor Dark World aftermath, etc.). Canon or not AOS is still a great show 👍
I agree. Thus was the show that I got my wife to watch, trying to entice her to becoming interested in Marvel stories. Guess what it worked she enjoyed most of the stories and bought into the characters. Not an easy job since she is very critical of these types of shows.
Are we forgetting that going forward the MCU now has an ongoing multiverse? Can it not be both? Can it not be that not only had Agatha had possession of the Dark hold in her dimension of the world but that Agents Of Shield also cross paths with it in their’s?
Why must you reduce narrative continuity to a zero sum game?
I always thought that they had come out saying they were all non-canon anyway. Although 7 years isn’t so bad think of all us Star Wars fans when they said decades of books were all “non-canon” because they wanted to “simplify” the lore to then just release films, books, comics, TV shows & games (not 100% on that one but I heard they were canon) which everyone is expected to follow to understand the lore. So they decided to simplify everything by making it more complicated to follow unless your l8aded with a lot of free time (and I’m still not happy that Luke got retconned into what we saw in 8 & 9)
AOS was always the red-headed stepchild of the MCU. It was saved 3 times from cancelation by dedicated fans only partially because of their shadowing of Cenimatic tie-ins. EVERYTHING on AOS was done at a cinematic level, from Vfx through every bit of character development and casting. Its been almost 10 years since the character died and I still hate Grant Ward.
DC is doing it and I don’t see anyone complaining about that. I mean, how many versions of Batman do we need at the same time? If you’re worried bout Marvel nt following canon exactly as you want them to, you need a life.
Lack of creative imagination is this is true. Easily explained if an issue. The Darkhold used in S. H. I. E. L. D. is from one of the alternative timelines that was illegally (according to the time police) brought into their reality and caused havoc. Then two Darkhold could exist in the same reality. The end.
Agents of SHIELD was never TRULY canon. The show came up when Marvel still had TV and movies split. Kevin Feigie was always in charge of the movie side, said he didn’t consider the TV shows canon, and basically ignored them.
The TV shows tried to say they were canon, and followed plotlines from Winter Soldier and The Dark World movies at first. However you knew they weren’t truly canon after the whole Inhumans plotlines. If they were canon, the Avengers would have been aware of something like a world-wide “rebirth” of millions of now enhanced and potentially dangerous individuals. But they weren’t.
Agents of SHIELD tried to play around Fiegie and stay relevant, but they just couldn’t have the global threats they did, and not at least raise the eyebrows of one or more of the Avengers.
When Disney/Marvel consolidated every, and put Feigie in charge of TV, he confirmed that any TV shows that did not priemire on Disney+ after Endgame were now strictly non-canon. AoS is in a timeline that has a lot of similarities to the main MCU, but isn’t exactly the same.
Shield was one of my favorite shows!! To erase that and everyone who worked so hard on it and that storyline is ridiculous! It is amazing. I love carlson.. May and everyone. No way to just wipe them out because of some new show no ones heard of???? No no no
They have already stated years ago that agents of shield is non Canon. I depise when writers do a story about something that they don’t bother with finding out about and have no interest in their articles source material.
I think this is B.S. Agents of Shield was a better show than the ones being ported over. It doesn’t deserve the disrespect it’s been getting. I’m just confused how it’s non canon, but tied into the MCU for it’s first few seasons.
It’s the contents of my the book that are dangerous and it is even inferred in the Multiverse of Madness that there have been many copies. So in fact there are no real conflicts with MCU canon. The only issue being that the protagonists thought that there was only one copy.
I wish Kevin Feige would take these shows into consideration. AOS was really amazing that it deserves to be canon in the MCU. If there’s any show that deserves to be erased, it’s She Hulk. That and the Inhumans TV series.
A.O.S. was retconned shortly after Age of Ultron as being set in an alternate timeline. The show was moving faster than the movies could keep up and thus the change occurred. This means that the Darkhold of WandaVision & A.O.S. were 2 different versions of the same book. Someone who wrote this article didn’t do their research.
Marvel TV was run separately from the movies. And the guy running it was an a-hole who didn’t work and play well with others. So I understand why they want to purge themselves from his legacy. Too bad the actors and writers of these shows may suffer do to his authoritarianism.
Yeah, the author Averyl F. Is one of the worst on here. How can you be a fan of something and not even know the REAL facts. Seems like drop out college grad writes these articles. Better stick to Fanfiction Averyl.
I think Disney shouldn’t remove a Marvel show from the MCU. Also, the MCU has a continuous multiverse, so this show might be canon. Also, whether it’s canon or not, it shouldn’t be removed, in my opinion. I strongly feel that this change sucks and is or would be a terrible decision and I don’t think true fans of the show and/or people who really want to see it would ever let this happen. Besides, DC has different versions of Batman and Marvel has different versions of Spiderman who were all in the MCU in the same universe from different universes in the very broad multiverse. So, I don’t see why this show should be removed from the MCU because it could be canon, in my opinion. This choice seems pointless and stupid. Also, AOS was on ABC, not Netflix, and I think it is or was also on Disney Plus and should stay there if it’s there and should remain in the MCU forever, which is how I feel. Also, if websites could count this show and the characters on it as part of the MCU, i really feel that this all should always remain that way– in the MCU. People love this show, and I don’t think they’ll let it go, as I previously stated.
I strongly feel that this choice seems pointless and stupid to me. People love this how and won’t let Disney remove it from MCU history. It could be canon as there is a continuous multiverse in the MCU, with three versions of Spiderman. DC has plenty of versions of Batman, including Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, and Robert Pattinson. So, I don’t see why this show is going to be erased, but hopefully it won’t be. Besides, if its not going to be in the MCU anyone, it hopefully will still be on Disney Plus, and if not, then that’s even dumber of a choice, in my opinion.
The AoS copy or the Agatha copy could be simply a copy, as supposedly they existed, out one could be from another timeline as has been suggested, or one could be part of a chaos-mediated time loop. Agatha’s copy could get sent back in time to be SHIELD’S copy, vice-versa, or they both could be chronosynclastic echoes of yet another, Platonic ideal of the actual Darkhold. (With thanks to Kurt Vonnegut for that lovely word “chronosynclastic”, that was used so wonderfully in “Sirens of Titan”.)
The long and short of this is Marvel is introducing characters that the mainstream audience doesn’t know like they do with Cap., Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Spiderman and maybe Ghost Rider because of the Nick Cage movies.
Marvel only got away with this with the Guardians but as someone who doesn’t read comics I am not invested in characters like Moon Knight, Shang-Chi, and the Eternals. or the multiverse (this also includes DC’s multiverse which is worse yet).
Sure I am old school but just give me characters I know of.
Okay so this is kinda a well thought out process. As said in Dr Strange 2: Multiverse Of Madness (MoM) the darkhold was a copy, which could also mean that there are multiple copies. So maybe the darkhold is Agent Of Shield (AOS) is a second copy and the one seen in WandaVision (WV) is another copy, that way both of the shows are Canon and it makes sense, right?

AOS was not a Netflix show. It was on ABC. I think everyone already accepted AOS was non-canon.

Which is kind of unfortunate since AOS included events/characters from the MCU (infiltration/collapse of SHIELD by HYDRA, Lady Sif, Thor Dark World aftermath, etc.). Canon or not AOS is still a great show 👍

I liked some of the characters in the show, but all their missions and endeavours were obviously low budget and poorly written.

Nah, this is just going to turn out to be a rumor that isn’t reality. Like so many others.

Agents of shield was never Canon in the first place.

Yeah lol like that show was always non-canon plus it sucks.

I disagree that their character development was at a cinematic level.
It was BETTER.
Jason
Actually it is Canon. Further, it is, hands down, the best show Marvel has ever produced. Nothing else comes CLOSE.

Wandavision sucked. We don’t need an Agatha show
