Desantis has done nothing to help Floridians, our home owners insurance is through the roof. His political war fare with Disney is self induced, the company is not fond of his policies, neither are most floridians and we have the right to disagree.
Disney came to Florida in the 70s and turned Florida into an economic racing engine fueled by tourists and families from all over the world. Retiring sickos from the most reactionary areas of the country have elected him to sow division, hate, prejudice and a return to the 1500s inquisition and thought police in our state in our education system and work places and the privacy of our lives. And he claims credit for making Florida a great state. WHAT A SICK JOKE FOR A GOVERNOR.
Disney, sue him until he has nothing left for copyright infringement. DeSantis, you are so stupid. Handing they out at your comic book, book signings. Keep us updated, Disney. On your no-brainer lawsuit against a no-brainer politician.
I’d be interested to know who made and sold the hats. If it was sanctioned by DeSantis, he will find it hard to separate himself from the likely lawsuit. They will first probably get a cease-and-desist order, but Disney has zero problems going after those who rip off their trademarked items. I should know. As a mail carrier, I once had an ad to deliver (car repair place) that used Mater on the ad. I reported them to Disney, and never saw that ad again, although they routinely advertised in our area.
Does DeSantis seriously not know that Disney has enough lawyers in enough different areas to shout down his stupid hat sale? Does he think they won’t find out? Does he think they aren’t literally watching his every move? What a maroon (to quote another famous cartoon animal).
Obviously our little bully governor thinks he’s above the law like someone else. He is acting like a two year old having a tantrum because Disney does not bow down to him. It’s bad enough that he’s our governor, god help us if he becomes president!
Disney (WDW) will ultimately loose the fight against Florida and DeSantis on a legal technicality. In order for the contract signed between Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) and WDW that granted WDW oversight in perpetuity to be held lawful all government agencies involved had to have agreed in accordance with Florida law. Each government entity is required to hold a public hearing and provide public notics of the hearing. The WDW area in question is governed by three local governments; RCID, the Incorporated City of Bay Lake, and the Incorporated City of Lake Buenavista. Both cities have between 20 – 30 residents each.
There is was an existing agreement between each city and RCID that grants RCID its powers for the purposes of planning and development, public works, and assessments. Neither of those agreements provide for RCID to assign the powers granted to it from the cities to a third party.
RCID did properly notice and hold a public hearing. However, because the existing agreement did not authorize RCID to further assign the rights of the cities to a third party, such as WDW, the contract is null and void as to all powers that belong to the cities; which includes public works, assessments, planning & development.
In order for the contract to be binding on the Incorporated cities, each city would have to have had a properly noticed public hearing and voted to allow RCID to further assign those powers to another entity. That did not occur. Therefore, the contract is absolutely null as it pertains to any powers exercised by RCID on behalf of the cities.
Additionally, RCID did pass a revised planning and development growth plan. However, the documents refer to attachments for specific information. But, none of those attachments are included in the public records of RCID or attached to the board member packets to be reviewed prior to voting. Therefore, those approvals are absolutely null.
With that said, DeSantis will also suffer politically during the campaign while this court battle plays out. As a result, I predict a compromise where WDW agrees to refrain from public statements in politics that do not have a direct effect on WDW, such as taxes, redistricting, etc. In exchange Florida will increase the size of the board and give WDW 1 or 2 seats on the board, as well as giving local business owners in the district 1 seat, Orange county 1 seat , and Osceola County 1 seat, and possibly each of the two county sheriff’s a seat.
I think the whole affair is sickening. DeSantis is an idiot for trying to push around Florida’s biggest money maker. I think Disney should look for another location for a park and let Florida rot. The only reason to visit Orlando is Disney. The amount of revenue generated by Disney guests would be a huge loss to Florida if Disney moved. I am so sick of this male oriented conservative movement, it is time to bring them down!
Comments for DeSantis Plagiarizes Disney In Latest Political Move
Not a sheep
Yawn.

Chances are high that he didn’t make or distribute these hats. Likely someone at the rally made them to sell there.
I’m no fan of Desantis, but if he didn’t have a part in making or distributing the hats, he can’t be held liable.

Agreed. A RINO who doesn’t support the business that brings in so much income to the state.

Well, if he did, they’ll be a price to pay. If not, then the claim ends. Time will tell but I wouldn’t put it past Desantis.
