This CANNOT be happening! I have always idolized the Country Bears for longer than I can remember! Is there no room for anything great about the old West anymore?!
And how old are you? When was the last time you saw the bears? What do your teenage kids/grandkids think of the bears? I’m 41 years old, and this does not appeal to me or my kids even though I grew up with bears in the 90s/2000s. Just because you have nostalgia for it doesn’t mean it should stay. This and other rides need to change with the times especially if they don’t resonate with the kids, teens and young adults of today.
Looking forward to the new Tiana World expansion. Hopefully they get rid of the Haunted house and turn it into Big Daddys house to add to the princess and the frog storyline universe at Disney. Finally that racist splash is gone and now we can wipe out the rest of white European culture. Power to the people of color.
Punished for wrong tastes? Kind of like if I don’t agree with you, I am obviously wrong? Everyone is allowed to have their different opinion, but as FOR-Profit corporation they need to look at what’s best for the people of the future. Some classics that continue to resonate with the masses (Pirates, Space, Thunder) will obviously stay, but Disney has the data and if they see that something has not become popular through lack of attendance like the Bears…they will change it. Obviously changing Splash Mountain to something else what a combination of things NOT attributed to attendance as its a “thrill” ride (I’m guessing here obviously I don’t have records of Splash Mountain Popularity over the years)
Oh boy, I guess your a fan of Walt Disney then because he always wanted things to change, evolve, and become better. Walt Disney looked forward, not backwards!
I am 54 and it’s still ranks up on the must do list every time I go to the park. Im about to do some research and see how we can make it a historic landmark.
I’m 52 and have been going since I was 7. We are at the Magic Kingdom multiple times a month. My kids are 18&20 and they both love it. It’s a beautiful classic attraction and should be preserved not removed. Sorry it doesn’t appeal to you. To each their own
If this is one of your favorite attractions, you must be older than me (I’m 41). What do your kids think about this attraction? It’s so old and dated along with other rides, and if it doesn’t have a purpose with their primary customer base then it should be gone and replace with something better.
I am literally the definition of gen z and I love the bears, so do my friends/ cousins, so yeah it does kind of reconcile with us. Also I get where your coming from but i think it would be better if you didn’t speak for us if you don’t know our opinions.
Well what next to making this a New Orleans neighborhood? Get rid of the Pirates ride as it doesn’t fit the neighborhood? Or make it a Drag Queen reading area !
I don’t like Dylan either, but now y’all just reaching for something to complain about. Literally the trans topic has nothing to do with this. Plus, ain’t nobody remember The Country Bears except old people. I bet children don’t even know Disney made a (trash) Country Bear movie.
Really Mike….It’s not that bad. People speak differently from different parts of the country (and the world). Just because it’s not your proper English doesn’t negate her point. She makes a valid point.
I agree with you. But is it because of their parents’ love of the attraction that keeps them coming back (or going in the first place)? At what ages are you speaking of? You tell any teenager that they are going to this attraction and I bet 9 out of 10 of them rather go wait in line for something more interesting. The other 10% do it to placate their parents.
Hey Disney… can you please stop removing superior attractions and replacing them with garbage? Horizons was better than Mission: Space. 1982 Journey into Imagination was WAY better than the junk Imagination ride that replaced it. The Great Movie Ride was vastly SUPERIOR to Runaway Railway. There is no way Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be as iconic as Splash Mountain. Zippity Doo Dah may not be a politically correct song, but name as song from Princess and the Frog that was as memorable. Yeah, crickets. Stop pandering.
And as of soundtrack: “Almost there” “Dig a Little Deeper”? They’re literally using the “Down in New Orleans” song in the stage show at Disney World. P&F has a memorable soundtrack but you’re too ignorant to to listen.
Who cares if the sound track is memorable – you mean like an earworm? Maybe you are too ignorant to see that Disney is only interested in woke ideology and destruction of classics.
Amen! The Soundtrack to P&tF was epic. I have a Creative Soul Tiana doll that is in our foyer- she gives me that little “push” and I tell myself “Almost there”… I’d love to have a little bit of New Orleans in Florida! I’m holding out on visiting until renovations are complete.
I think if they put Ray and his kin in PLACE of those bears, it’d be great! I have an unfair advantage in terms of this because I did get chosen for the Pixar Internship for art… which meant we had to assess trends in terms of marketing; which doesn’t fare well to this alleged “pandering” agenda that some seem to think is happening.
I’ll be the first to admit, change is painful and hard. I was a kid when Captain EO came out; and when they tried (unsuccessfully) to revive it after MJJ’s demise, I skipped it-because I wanted to remember it JUST. LIKE. IT. WAS.
Just imagine how silly Disney felt knowing they destroyed The Golden Girls (and other iconic) houses- especially now that the Girls have a resounding revival!?
Guess what- they don’t. It’s a beautiful memory, a bit of nostalgia. Growing is hard; changing or daresay improving something doesn’t mean you’re moving with an agenda.
Let’s be realistic- The Song of the South was a product of it’s time. A biased, nuanced view that not many understood was problematic. HOWEVER-since we know better NOW and CAN do better, we should!
While I see your point and I also miss Horizons, times change! Not updating/retheming rides is shortsighted. You have to look to the future, the kids of today don’t care about any ride you mentioned above. My kids 13 and 11 would be so bored on Horizons, even though I loved it. The great movie ride may have nostalgia for us of great classic movies, but seriously, do the kids and young adults even care to know about Humphrey Bogart and Casablanca? I was barely able to get through that movie 20 years ago (I’m 41) You can’t update rides overnight and if you don’t constantly innovate on a planned schedule before you know it the park is so outdated that kids of the future (and their parents) won’t care to attend.
I’ll say it again Disney is Always has been OVER RATED & OVER PRICED.
If they FEEL it’s time to Change up WHAT We ALL been Seeing for 50 yrs SO BE IT ….
Walt said years ago that Country Bears Jamboree was one of his favorites and gave Walt one of his last laughs! So they need and will stay there! Keep at it S1 I am!
Yeah and if Walt was here today he might have a new favorite that would of replaced the bears by now. It’s about innovation and change and entertaining the kids of today…Not you and Not me (I’m 41).
Splash Mountain? I believe that’s already been confirmed, but you keep hoping and staying in the past.
I understand the bears are still a rumor, but honestly it needs to go! Stop being stuck in the past. Turning them into Zombies? Interesting take. Now if we were speaking of TIK TOK I would probably agree with you.
The present is actually the past. Tomorrow is yesterday, next week is tomorrow.
You can’t untie a noodle. Don’t forget it. My kids don’t know what rice is and wheat bread will rise again. Wash down my cigarettes with a glass of milk!
This would be a huge let down for so many people, please don’t touch the bears. This breaks my heart so much in so many ways. This would be much worse than loosing Splash, and we saw how many people were there for splash on closing day.
I think Country Bears Jamboree should stay in the Magic Kingdom. I rather it be updated than be torn apart and removed. I also don’t want Disney World turning Frontierland into New Orleans Square. It should just stay the way it is.
I think they should retheme the entire park to Tiana. When are you going to realize Disney is gone? Tony Baxter who was the creative head of the Splash team QUIT (retired) from Disney on the night Splash closed in Florida. He spent the night eating dinner with friends family at Club 33 and then rode splash multiple times. How much more of a statement do you need that this company has COMPLETELY lost its way. STOP patronizing Disney. From a former cast member there IS life after Disney – and lots more money to spend on other things. Stop feeding this Iger beast ! as long as you do they laugh at you! Disney is dead.
Rename the Magic Kingdom Tianaland. There’s nothing better than a half rate animation getting top booking over classics. Is it any wonder that Tony Baxter retired on the night Splash closed in Florida. He spent the night having dinner at club 33 and riding splash at Disneyland. I took it as his protest. Tony was the inspiration/design leader for the ride – along with imagineer John Stone and others. Disney is dead. Iger is reforming it to his woke ESG fantasyland. There is life after Disney
Disneyland replaced the Country Bears with the Many adventures of Winnie the Pooh. In certain areas of the attraction, you can still see the country bears original theater. The three animals on the wall (that talk) are still there. You have to turn around and look back to see them.
If Disney wants to make the Country Bears a New Orleans attraction, I don’t know if that is going to fly. A sanitized, woke, country bears, YUCK! What about Pecos Bill on the corner? Amazing nachos, yum.
My kids thought dropping Tiana in frontierland was a bad idea, not as appropriate as California. Hopefully Disney won’t have as much backlash as Bud Light.
Change is always good…. progress, but when Disney decides to remove a show I’d wish they’d preserve that show in holographic form, to be presented at a equipped theatre within the park where it originally resided for future generations to experience.
Wait. What’s with this insane rant of don’t touch the bears? Disney revamped the entire show years ago shaving about five minutes off the show. The new version of bear band is horrible, clunky and lackluster. It’s time to put the reimagined show to rest.
Enough is enough, there are so many other good Disney movies that could have themes for ride and entertainment. Why are we so into the that movie only? I like country bears but it could use an update, or something else but lets not go overboard with the same thing over and over. Get some imagination imagineers.
New Olreans Square for DisneyWorld….Yea, why not?…However this shouldnt be a catalyst to justify completely rethemeing the Country Bears Jamboree…or used as an agenda.
The Country Bears are classic. However a retrofit is better term for it. You could incorporate all.the bears and Tiana, and friends into either one show or run two shows, one with Tiana, and one classic Country Bears Jamboree. Point is there is a way to incorporate retrofitting beloved attractions without agenda.
If this does happen…think about the logistics…New Olreans Square would technically have to go from Liberty Square, Frontierland, into part of Adventureland where POTC is.
As a commenter pointed out what about Big Thunder Mountain. Two possible ideas maybe that Big Thunder would remain , as part of the mountain range in the area, and maybe get an over lay to Toy Story wiith only Woody, Jesse, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete.
Or
Big Thunder could remain in place as a transition for DisneyWorld to expand out into Radiator Springs, Carsland.
Again take a look at when POTC was fitted with Captain Jack. It did not completely alter the beloved attraction…it was tastefully done. Use that as a model/guide if the country bears were to be retrofitted.
Yes DisneyWorld needs their version of New Orleans Square, and Cars land.
Then if its balancing, say New Orleans Square does happen, what about adventureland…that land its time for a major outward expansion…What about Agrabah?, Lilo and Stitchs House?, etc….
I agree 100%, Nana. Iger and Chapek are set on destroying the Disney parks. IMHO, on a scale of 1-10, I’d give Iger a ZERO, and Chapek a MINUS 10. As a Disney shareholder, it makes me sick to see what they’re doing to the parks.
If the bears get removed momma may just whoop little Buford.
The bears could be rethemed with a New Orleans theme and the bears could be given a heavy accent and still be a great show.
I adore the Country Bears and do not want them to change. Brayden at Mickey Views thinks they will stay with the hydraulic animatronics replaced with more modern technology and change the show to Country Bears vacation, which apparently ran (at Disneyland, I think) for several years a couple of decades ago. But “Blood on the Saddle” would be replaced (sob!) As long as the bears keep their personalities and the funny quirkiness of the show remains, I guess I can live with it.
i NEVER miss the Country Bear Jamboree. it’s old-school Disney and i think we need to remember where it all came from…. Tiana could be used in a transformation of the Diamond Horseshoe Review space… turn it into her restaurant,
Tiana has never made big money or or earned academy awards fool. It would only fail. And hang the old school crap. Old stuff proved more popular then you ever think.
No!
Touch the bears and ruin one of the best things left at Disney world. Would they change mickey mouse because kids don’t get him today? No they would create a film explaining him. Maybe it’s time to make animated movies again. Not live action nonsense and teach kids good old fashioned humor.
Wow I’m seeing a lot of mixed reactions and arguments on this article mainly from nostalgia critics just because of this rumor, I get the Country Bears Jamboree is a Disney classic, but it just doesn’t seem to be appealing to guests anymore, for if you were to go to the Magic Kingdom today, you’ll find out that there’s barely any one in line to see it unless it’s a hot day or parents with kids.
Not sure why Disney doesn’t have some sort of nostalgia section – maybe along with Carousel of Progress and any old classic that guests love but need to be moved for new ideas.
So Disney is rethemeing Frontierland to accommodate Tiana. That is so pathetic. They should’ve just given her a restaurant and leave Splash Mountain alone. Hopefully this is false.
I am getting tired with everything being washed away. I have no problems with new stuff but they are erasing everything that has always been there and a part of Walt Disney. Lets get a little combination on old and new.
Considering the fact that pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise has been changed for political correctness, I’m surprised that country bears hasn’t been changed as well. The girl bears are singing “Every Man Who Turns Me On Turns Me Down”, one bear is singing to his mom and asking her not to “whoop little Buford”, and then big Al is singing about a murder. I fail to see how these are great For families. That being said it fits far better into the frontier land theme Van New Orleans attractions do. One idea that someone had which I tend to agree with is to keep the wilderness animals theming, but use The Muppets from Emmett otters jug band Christmas and essentially make it about their town town talent show. You would still have adorable animatronic country animals singing and playing instruments, but the songs would not be so disturbing. You could even have Kermit the frog and his nephew Robin hosting the show. While I don’t think that all original attractions need to go, some are outdated or insensitive, some have had mechanical issues for years, and Walt himself said that the parks will never be finished and will continue to change and expand with the times. It’s time for the country bears to retire.
Zach, you really got’em going with this one. Country Bears is artistic, clever, entertaining, and fun. The bear named Tennessee is a favorite. But you gotta love Blood on the Saddle. They won’t mess with this one no matter how many Disney haters may want.
I saw the country bears in Florida and the routine was definitely inappropriate lol. We went in because it was June so super hot/humid but left feeling awkward haha
How soon we forget…Disney had bear fans all worked up years ago when they had rumors spreading about the Country Bears becoming a Woody’s roundup show.
Yep, one more reason to not go to Disney anymore. Wonder how long til Haunted Mansion is turned into something else. At the rate Disney is going they may just have to Rename the Entire Park.
Leave the bears ALONE!! It’s one of our favorites along with the Haunted Mansion. We are long time DVC members and too many disappointing changes have happened all around. Add to the magic instead of taking it away.
If Disney made all the parks the same (same rides, etc.) what would be the point of going to the other parks? Now there is alittle difference in the parks, with each having its own set of rides and themes.

It is unfunny trash. Time to move on… Things can’t stay the same forever.

I am 54 and it’s still ranks up on the must do list every time I go to the park. Im about to do some research and see how we can make it a historic landmark.

Actually, Magic Kingdom…especially Main St, was based on nostalgia.
Just one more reason I’m glad we have up our resident passes…that we’ve had since they had resident passes….

Have “given up” our resident passes.

The Country Bears is one of our favorites and we never miss it. I even have a Big Al stuffie. He’s my favorite. I e hope they keep it.

This would be the WORST IDEA. Stop eradicating classic Disney. There US PLENTY of space to put Tiana in and leave the country bears alone

Keep the Country Bears!!!!!

Why not make a trans gender world sicko Disney Leftys

Leave the Country Bears alone! One of my all time favorite Disney attractions. It was bad enough when they removed it from Anaheim. Don’t do it again!

I’m glad the bears are going. That was the most odd, weird, perplexing thing I’ve ever seen at a park.

I think the same about Frozen. I’d love to see every trace of than annoying theme gone, but others like it, so they should be able to enjoy it.

Country bears are a favorite of mine an others
Vincent Ferraro
If the bears get removed momma may just whoop little Buford.
The bears could be rethemed with a New Orleans theme and the bears could be given a heavy accent and still be a great show.

Love Country Bears!!! Great place to cool down, slow down and enjoy.

That is until it happens! We said the same thing about River Country until it was gone!

Anything not woke must go right Disney? Sickening. Well I’m not woke so I guess I must go too!!!

They need to leave the country bears alone I love this show I am tired of them changing thing so much Disney World please leave country bears alone.
Mamakopp

I hated the Carousel of Progess. I’d be happy to see it changed. I know it was Walts baby so who knows if that will ever happen.
Brian B
Not sure why Disney doesn’t have some sort of nostalgia section – maybe along with Carousel of Progress and any old classic that guests love but need to be moved for new ideas.
John
So Disney is rethemeing Frontierland to accommodate Tiana. That is so pathetic. They should’ve just given her a restaurant and leave Splash Mountain alone. Hopefully this is false.
Leslie

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

If they want to add more Tiana they should rebrand the diamond horseshoe review space and make it Tiana’s restaurant
Tennessee
Zach, you really got’em going with this one. Country Bears is artistic, clever, entertaining, and fun. The bear named Tennessee is a favorite. But you gotta love Blood on the Saddle. They won’t mess with this one no matter how many Disney haters may want.

I love how so many people are freaking out over one single tweet suggesting Disney might do something.
Nothing is confirmed or even close to official… calm down, you sound like scared little snowflakes
James E Snyder
Leave my Beloved Bears alone. I visit that attraction every time I go to Disney World. Im an Annual Passholder , so I go there quit a lot
Rteker
I’m with all those who say to leave the Country Bears ALONE!!! Tiana isn’t even a real princess just like Pocahontas.
Me
I saw the country bears in Florida and the routine was definitely inappropriate lol. We went in because it was June so super hot/humid but left feeling awkward haha
Ian
How soon we forget…Disney had bear fans all worked up years ago when they had rumors spreading about the Country Bears becoming a Woody’s roundup show.
Rachel Winiecki
Yep, one more reason to not go to Disney anymore. Wonder how long til Haunted Mansion is turned into something else. At the rate Disney is going they may just have to Rename the Entire Park.
Carlene poff
Leave the bears ALONE!! It’s one of our favorites along with the Haunted Mansion. We are long time DVC members and too many disappointing changes have happened all around. Add to the magic instead of taking it away.
Dee
If Disney made all the parks the same (same rides, etc.) what would be the point of going to the other parks? Now there is alittle difference in the parks, with each having its own set of rides and themes.
