  1. They are very deluded. All they had to do was stay out of Florida politics. Floridians do not want kindergarten to third grade taught sex education of any kind (heterosexual/homosexual). Why does Disney want to push sex of any kind on kids? Walt Disney World in the past always catered to kids and forever childhood. This doesn’t make sense. This led to chapeks dismissal. The Company is not innocent. Liberals always screaming pay your fair share. Why is Disney shocked by having to pay their debts? Inside the Magic would do well to show both sides of this issue

You have read the Constiution? There is a First Amendment that prohibits what the Governor is doing in it. Try again

Agreed. DeathSantis picked the fight first. I thought conservatives supported businesses large and small. “I don’t think Ron DeSantis is a conservative, based on his actions towards Disney,” – Chris Christie. Trump wrote in a post on his social network Truth Social that DeSantis is being “absolutely destroyed by Disney” and suggested that the company would be justified in leaving Florida.

“I don’t think Ron DeSantis is a conservative, based on his actions towards Disney,” said Christie, who is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks on whether to run, in an interview with Semafor Tuesday. Trump wrote in a post on his social network Truth Social that DeSantis is being “absolutely destroyed by Disney” and suggested that the company would be justified in leaving Florida.

        Wrong

From an outsider DeSantis to me looks like a spoilt brat, he is no different to Putin, do as I say or I will throw my toys out of my pram and try to get you. So much for freedom of speech, and this guy wants to be your President, I’m sorry he needs to put his big boy pants on first and grow up somewhat.

I’m not so much a fan of Disney these days because of all they have done with pricing hikes and much less for your money than you got previously, or things you got included are now extra charges, so they lost a customer here, but I agree that they should fight DeSantis all the way. He is delusional.

They’re suing him at the level of constitutional rights lol it’s over I don’t get why there’s these people in government that have no idea how the versus basics of our government work, he overextended on their constitutional rights long ago and Disney has just stayed quiet and let them take the board first before putting the lawsuit in. It’s like Disney just laid a trap and is waiting with the lawsuit already written.

      Love it!!!!

So who wins here? Chapek put his nose in an issue he really shouldn’t have. Bad business decision, then he doubles down by lobbying against a law that was already passed. Chapek gets canned. So instead of trying to smooth things over, we get more BS from Disney with the added laugh of Charles decendants. In reality, this will cost the company money and will cost the taxpayers of Florida money. Yeah I get the free speech issue but one has to wonder if Disney thinks it’s their place to promote curriculum in K-3 that most reasonable parents don’t want their kids exposed to. They haven’t learned with their recent box office flops.

Whether or not it was good business sense or not is irrelevant. You, as a private customer, are allowed to patronize them or not based on whatever criteria you choose. The government is not supposed to punish them for promoting a viewpoint- in fact, being allowed to promote your views, popular or not, without fear of government retribution is one of this country’s core principles

            Well said

          2. Smo

I guess you don’t work at Disney and you really don’t know what’s going on but I guess you are Ron meatball Botta and you voted for her so you think is right for him to impose his thinking of other people. If Disney leaves hundred thousand people gonna lose their jobs because the Santa things things should go his way everything was working just fine and to DeSantis got into office so before you speak, you should know what’s going on, but then again, you voted for DeSantis so that shows how smart you really are

          3. Kurt

            Absolutely!

        2. Michael L

I think you have forgotten about the First Amendment. And no Chapek did not get fired because of this.

    2. Donald R Barber

Exactly what I was thinking, although I’m not sure “trap” is the the right word.

Anyone who knows anything about Disney knows that they will not hesitate to defend, and in some cases aggressively pursue their interests, and they are not shy about using legal action at a level that I personally think can be a bit much.

This isn’t meant to be approval; although I like that they’re going after one of the biggest bullies in all of politics, but everyone knows you don’t mess with their business unless you want a real fight, and although they may have a lot of cash tied up in acquisitions, they own so much valuable IP that they could easily borrow against any shortfall if that became a problem.

IOW, if the cage is clearly marked “lion” and you read it as an invitation and not a warning, you weren’t tricked or misled, you just oughtta know better.

    3. AH

You probably said the same thing when Disney tried to rig their special district with the old board. Wrong then and now.

  3. Carol

GOOD SHOW THAT A$$ !!!! HES A NOBODY

  4. Mike McG

About freaking time! Disney was very patient but I wish they had filed the day he proved it was retaliation.

  5. Pete

Disney is going to be screwed on this lawsuit. The dissolution of Reedy Creek action was in process with the legislature before Disney started saying anything about the Florida parental rights law. It just got fast tracked, and the other districts are still being looked at on case by case. Disney is going to spend money they don’t have on a lawsuit they have less than a 50-50 shot at winning. Over actions that the state legislature actually took to create state laws. Maybe at his prompting, but that’s part of his job as governor. Disney is going to have to prove an outright malicious act against them and that’s going to be hard to prove.

    1. Paul W

The fact that all of these laws have been specifically targeting Disney and none of the other special districts in the state is in act going to make the proof very easy.

    2. Donald R Barber

If Idiot Ron could keep his freaking mouth shut once in a while, maybe he could sell that nag as a Clydesdale, but he can’t, and won’t.

Him and Ted Cruz should set up “Punch My Mouth and Shut Me Up” booths at the state fair to raise money. He MIGHT draw enough people to compete with Disney for once.

    3. Michael Lee

Everything you wrote is factually wrong. The dissolution of RCID was not in process. In fact, the Governor wrote in his book when it was brought up and why. No other district is being looked at. The legislation passed last year to do that was repealed. Disney has more money than necessary to handle this case and a very high chance of success. The Governor, legislators, and board have all made clear this was retaliation for protected speech. It is not the Governor’s job tp retaliate, in fact it is prohibited by the Constitution

  6. Robert

    FINISH HIM!!!!!

  7. AG

I will NEVER vote for DeSantis just like I will never vote for Trump. Go be a big Loy somewhere else.

  8. Texan Latina

BAHAHAHA Disney picked a fight about a Bill that was to protect children from talking about sex with unauthorized adults which is common sense. Why the heck would disney want adults talking to kids about sex anyways?!? Dam shame it had to come to this.

  9. Deb

  10. Kris

It’s about time! If Disney fails in this suit then it’s time to stop investing in Florida. The state is hostile to business and the first amendment under DeSantis.

    1. Marc Morin

So true and I have to remind myself that my investment with the company is with The Walt Disney Company in California as a whole not simply Disney World and it’s related parks in Florida.

I certainly am watching this situation closely as a long term investor.

  11. Rroe

Stop and think why the other Orlando theme parks such as Universal are not having any issues at all with Florida. “They don’t metdle in Governmental issues and politics plus don’t get into trying to dictate how how 3rd graders need to learn about sexual things they have no business in learning at that age in school classrooms. If Disney ran their theme park like they’ve been doing for the past 50 years this all could have been avoided. By the way, hope everyone realizes that Disney will only raise ticket prices once again to cover all this litigation (like their not outragous already).

    1. Paul W

No they won’t. A company with Disney’s billions has extremely good litigation insurance. Much like the FOX settlement won’t affect its operations despite the exorbitant amount.

      1. Michael L

Disney has nothing to do with the Fox Settlement. They do not own FoxNews. They did not get Fox News, the Fox Network or Fox Sports in the merger.

    2. Forest Gump

Universal opposed the so called law in question before Disney ever said a peep. Comcast owns Universal and NBC…MSNBC too, that bastion of conversative news, oh wait. The governor took on Disney in a calculated fashion and even if you despise Disney, it is hard to see his actions as anything other than retribution.

    3. Donald R Barber

So if Ronnie passed a law that to protect our children from invisible bears we need to strip search all teachers daily to make sure that the bears aren’t using them for cover, forbade teachers from expressing skepticism that invisible bears exist, and required teachers to inform parents if one of their students questioned the existence of invisible bears or voiced the opinion that they wanted to BE an invisible bear, anyone who objects to that law must want our children to be mauled by invisible bears?

    4. Michael L

sorry, but you are incorrect. Disney has every right to speak out about a very poor bill. Disney never advocated for 3rd graders needing to learn about sexual things. You are just listening to the false statements made by Desantis and others. But, either way, Florida does not have any right to retaliate. There is a First Amendment that they have violated. And in the end, the state of Florida will be paying the legal fees.

      1. AH

They did more than speak out.

  12. Dick

I’m very happy to hear that the Mouse is filing a lawsuit against our dictator, AKA: Governor. I hope he loses BIG TIME! He has already lost my votes in any future election.

    1. AH

You voted for Crist. Stop blathering.

  13. Jon Heil

Not sure whose more fruity, the corrupt government or the porno in every Disney movie!

  14. Brian

Whatever you believe on whether Disney should keep its “self governing privileges” or not isn’t the point anymore.
The point of this lawsuit is that Desantis, (and a governor at that) PUBLICLY ADMITTED that he is RETALIATING AGAINST and TARGETING one specific company because of their stance against him on a bill.
And the person who made that public stance has already BEEN CANNED!
Yet, Desantis continues! It is BEYOND reasonable doubt at this point that this governor took this personally and let his “feelings” get the best of his hot-headed persona.
THAT’S why Disney has a case.

    1. Adam W

The Governor is a hothead, outside of all this I have seen him in person at openings of Buckees stores and he was stuck up to even his own supporters. It’s it’s overall attitude and personality.

  15. Fu

    👍

    Finally!!!

Meet the Press this week, broke down the amount of $$$ coming into Florida, and Disney is Helping Florida #2 employer, and in a few years, DeSantis will be gone, and Disney will still be there for all the people in the world to visit.
Everyone disagrees at least some issues with others, but, retaliation is not the answer, a leader should be above petty disagreement and want to be JUDGE,JURY & EXECUTIONER. This is Dictatorship not Democracy.

    1. AH

This is democracy at work when you have the votes.

  17. Linda

Go Disney!! If anyone can stop that jerk you can!! He looked like a bobble head in Japan “denying” he was running for president. He’s trying to make himself look like a tough guy. He looks pathetic to everyone but Florida republicans.
I Hope Disney mops the floor with him!!

  18. Tony from Virginia

First off I don’t like what Disney is doing. But they are a private company and have to answer to there customers and there stockholder. not the governor of Florida.
I seen some red flags with Desantis before. He’s not a free market capitalist for sure. but now he no better then the left, He is using government as a weapon.

  19. downscale

No other Entertainment Company has their own Government.
    This lawsuit is BS.

    1. AH

      Correct.

  20. Mike L

While Disney does indeed have a 1st Amendment right to express an opinion without the sort of illegal retaliation orchestrated by Rhonda DeSantis, I see not practical reason for them to have stepped into a controversy that affected Disney in not way.
DeSantis is obviously one of those archaic, obsolete old fashioned males who wants to dominate and who will go all out for revenge against anybody who dares to disagree with him in order to compensate for his insecurity about his masculinity.

  21. AH

So Disney has the right to a special distist where they reign? I think not.
