Why would you need to? She didn’t ask to be called out on her weight. Sure, she posted a photo and you’ve got every freedom to say she’s chubby but people like this seem to think that the right ends there and your freedom is being encroached when people fire back on you for being a twat. It’s a two way street this freedom of speech stuff.
But, we gotta admit that the body type of the CM doesn’t match the body type of the character she’s supposed to be. People criticize her body type not simply because of what it is, but because it doesn’t makes sense in that context.
Nobody criticizes the body type of CMs playing as Ursula, or the Fairy Godmother, because they match the characters.
Moana’s character is 16, she’s fit because she spends all day running around on her island, paddling on boats, climibing trees…
The CM portraying her should be in her 20, or early 30 at “worst”, and have the corresponding body type.
Did you know that people can live a healthy, active lifestyle and have a body type just like that CM playing Moana? People criticizing her for not having the “corresponding body type” as a cartoon teenager are using this concern for exactness as a thin veil for fatphobia. Whether or not you realize it, admitting that this person is not as thin or small as she’s supposed to be shows that you take issue with someones size, and should not be working this job. I find it odd but not surprising that at least one person on the internet has thought “she made the kids day and thats awesome… but…” and expressed their disapproval over this idea that ever CM must look exactly like the animated drawing their portraying. Lets admit it… there are so many Elsas and Gastons etc at Disney World who look hardly anything like their animated counterpart. Its just someone who was cast by the people *in charge* of casting characters. Thank you genuinely if you read all this 😉
Chunky Moana is really cute but that doesn’t change the fact that a character performer should at least have the same body type as said character. I don’t see Disney hiring fat guys to play a prince.

You can’t say chubby any more.

Know what we CAN say? Mean, rude, misogynist. Need more? I have plenty.

Fat shaming NEEDS to come back! Too many Americans are fat AF bc of this dumb coddle culture where objective reality doesn’t matter anymore.
Body positivity IS encouraging your friends and others to stay/get in shape!

Okay, she made the kid’s day, and that’s awesome!
