First off, the movie is actually not problematic, the problem is people forget that there were many people of color that had good lives and were quite happy in such circumstances at the time and there were many that weren’t. But setting that aside, Splash Mountain is actually based off of Uncle Remus and his stories, which were based off stories originally written by an African American and removing them dishonors that heritage. I am all for righting wroings, but It is time we stand up and say when people are being Hippocratical.
100% agree. In addition, “decades of backlash” is complete bunk. There were some loud people on social media a few years back that Disney caved to. Splash Mountain has been a favorite of millions for a LONG time.
I agree as well. The movie, Song of the South was never problematic. For anyone to ride Splash Mountain and come away being offended was spending too much time over analyzing and wanting to be offended.
