You are saying it is a horrible idea to ban phones ON the faster rides? Not only is a good idea, but absolutely should be done. Heck, I would ban phones at the fireworks if it could actually be enforced. So many people “watching” the fireworks through their tiny display, ruining the experience for everyone around them (and in my opinion, for themselves too). Just turn off the phone and enjoy the experience, better for everyone.
No, I mean for those who know how to properly record said attractions. There are places where to record the fireworks without ruining the experience. I am one of those people who have this type of consideration.
If they Ban Phones better have a walk-in talkie. And Ban the LBQT so my grandkids don’t have to see them on Rides. I am spending my time at the park explaining why there is 2girls or 2 men kissing. They even have a special day.
I agree 100percent! The dam cell phones must go! It’s so annoying even in the congested shops a long with strollers 10 feet wide or mobility scooters as big as golf carts. People this past year are so arrogant and rude and think they are the only people at the parks. I will speak up and tell someone to turn off the phone.
Quite honestly, this should’ve been done a long time ago. And I hope that they do it very soon. Yes, I know it’s thrilling to capture your ride adventure, but you don’t realize that you could possibly be ruining it for other people. Plus, it’s dangerous. But if you drop your phone and it lands on a certain part of the roller coaster track? Who knows what that can lead to. honestly, I thought that this band was partially in place already. They are very clear at GOTG that you are not to use any type of device during the ride. They are very serious about this. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Sometimes, I questioned Disney’s policies on little things, but this is a big deal. And it needs to be reeled in quickly before somebody gets hurt.
Nah, they should just ban the annoying tik tokers. I don’t want them banning phones. They should allow those who know how to record attractions to record.
Everyone will say , I know how! Most will be lying.
Drop your phone, you no longer own it. It will immediately be crushed and you will pay a $1000. Fine. Permanent ban.
Whenever I record the attractions I know how to do it with high consideration for those around me. I never use my flash, and I hide my LED screen for my camera so it doesn’t bother anyone. Sucks that people are ruining this ability for many attractions… They better not ban it on Indiana jones. That is my number 1 ride to record. I use my professional camera for this purpose and not my phone. The camera has a wrist strap for safety, and the LED screen brightness is lowered for dark rides and for guests.
Sadly, for every one of you there’s 10 idiots who don’t think of the others around them.
I’d consider banning all phones if they would allow flashless GoPros in a chest or head harnesses (depending on safety requirements) You can film Pirates with a Gopro and no flash and it has to be securely attached to you during the ride. That allows filming without completely banning recording and allows for a proper guest experience for all.
Kids are on their phones as well. Waiting in line on Rise Of The Resistance I had to keep telling the group of kids in front of me to move up because the guests in front of them were moving up. Finally one guest had to tell them to pay attention and keep the line moving. So its not just “Disney adults”
Yes. I despise it when Disney adults video the entire ride on their phone. Last time I went to WDW I was forced to be engineer and gunner because the guy playing gunner in front of me was just videoing the entire thing.
Ban phones not only on rides but shows also, people are just rude and could care less that they are ruining the experience for those near them. If they want to watch the ride/show on a screen just turn on their computers there are 50,000 videos of that experience already on the internet and in a much higher quality, then your silly phone recording is going to have.
I think some people need to understand we can’t teach some people manners. I was on the safari ride in AK and the woman behind me took a phone call and chatted her way through the ride. It was so annoying. Ban the phones on rides.
Few remember the horrifying incident that happened at Universal’s Dueling Dragons twin coasters a few years ago when a moron in the first row lost control of their phone and it flew and hit a person right in the eye (and they did lose their vision permanently). This accident ended the 2 coasters ever “dueling” again. The guilty male teenager scurried under the ride and picked up his phone and quickly vanished.
Disney created half this problem by making people need their phones to book Genie+ rides. People don’t do it correctly and book the next one in line so do it on rides.
Disney is responsible for a lot of this many people are looking through menus and ordering food for later, looking for reservations to eat, checking times , seeing if their rooms are ready, checking wait times, checking how close they are to pick up time ,trying to book a room ,looking up show times, attractions and Disney encourages this.Disney should never have went this far tying these phones to so much it robs many of the magic.
As much as I would love to leave my phone home or in the car and just enjoy the experience, Disney has created a situation where you MUST take your phone in the Park for Genie+, food ordering. Wait times, etc. But I would still absolutely encourage and support a ban on the use of phones on ALL rides.
Unfortunately, it’s not just the vloggers at fault here, although many would like that to be the case. It has become a cultural thing to have our phones with us, turned on, and make ourselves available every second of the day/night for the slightest reason. I’m one who has told my friends and family that if I’m driving in my car, I will NOT answer the phone. Leave a message, I’ll pull over, and then I will call you back. EVERYONE thinks they’re much better at multitasking than they really are. Phones should be put away anytime you are supposed to be paying attention – full attention – to something else. In the case of Disney, it’s a courtesy to other riders and visitors, it’s a courtesy to performers (unless it’s a meet and greet where it is setup and designed for photos or filmed). And, yes, it is also a HUGE safety problem. When hanging on to your phone/camera is your main focus, you are going to be less concerned with following the rules regarding staying seated, keeping arms/legs inside the ride, etc. I don’t care how good you are with those items, the unexpected happens. There should be NO exceptions. That being said, people are TOTALLY encouraged BY DISNEY to use their phones to book dining, rides, etc.., all during the day/evening. You can’t have it both ways. As long as people MUST use their phones to take advantage of a VERY expensive trip, phones WILL be a problem and a headache for cast members.
But, but, Disney wants, no, demands, guests use their phones regularly. Isn’t that why they have Genie+? Mobile ordering? Door openers? Car locator? Photo pass? Disney Play? The list goes on…..Unfortunately!
Sad that guests who use electronic devices on the attractions are clueless, and rude, towards other guests.
Don’t be THAT person!!
I was on pirates ride once and a guy straight up took a business call while on the ride. People need to learn manners. What if it was someone’s first time on pirates, they ruined it for them.
People need to understand that some families have to save up for years to go experience Disneyland and they have the right to experience it the right way.
Same with haunted mansion, no one wants to hear you yell out the words to the ride, we don’t care if you know the words, you have nothing to prove.
I would rather eat a box of rocks than go to Disney anything and watch everyone with the freaking phones recording their lives like it even matters. How many people actually look at these photos/videos?
GoPro cameras that are properly mounted should be allowed because they cause no interference to other guests. Universal Orlando has lockers at all the roller coasters and such and they make you empty your pockets and everything before boarding certain rides. This is so that nothing goes flying and hurts someone. Perfectly reasonable in my opinion.

People are tone-deaf and are very selfish! Ban the phones and their stupid owners!!!

Just ban the YouTube vloggers..
They are grifters and they are the root of the problem..
