Highly Recommend Resort Hopping!….
its a great alternative to eperience the magic without high priced park tickets.
The only drawback is the transportation, unless you have a car and or, Depending which resort, (outside of the MK loop) you will have to take Disney Transport, and or boat to a park location or the Springs and then transfer to another resort bus. So travel can take some time. But all worth it.
With the addition of the Skyliner adds a new mode of transporation too.
Try a vacation at WDW just resort hopping. Why not?
You can still go to the main gates area of the parks, without going in.
Spread it out. Best tip is try to resort hop within the area resorts. For example on one day you could hop the MK resorts loop, and even take the boats to Wilderness lodge.
Another day resort hop the All Stars Sports Music, Movies. You can walk through all three of these without having to take a bus through each one.
Next do the Epcot resorts with the Skyliner or boats.
Heres some unique observations.
Dining – The value resorts and some mid level resorts have better dining options, such as food courts, than the high end resorts.
Examples:
Pop Century and Art of Animation both have food courts, like the All Stars. More options to choose from. Pop Century food court has better options than Art of Animation.
OldKey west having Olivias and the Take To Go is not as good as Saratogas dining. If staying at Old Key West highly recommend the Arists Palette at Saratoga over Olivias at Old KeyWest.
Wilderness Lodge the Whispering Canyon Cafe or the Roaring Fork are the best dining options. Coronado has a good food court too.
When resort hopping try the quick serve dining spots. Still good food and lower cost.
Gift shops:
For gift shops, you will.notice that the higher end resorts, (most of them) have smaller type gift shops. Definately explore the shops when resort hopping as you can find at times, resort specific merchandise.
Contemporary, and Wilderness are the best shops in the MK loop. Polynesian shop was OK, it was more Hawaii tourist merch than Disney Parks.
Animal Kingdom Lodge shop is great. (However transportation takes longer to and from there).
Corondado, Port Orleans shops are great.
Boardwalk main shop used to be better. Its worth taking a look though.
Sawn and Dolphin shops are more like an average hotel gift shops.
Yacht and Beach Club shops nothing to brag about.
Please note these are my recommendations from my experiences. Other guests have different takes on what are the better options…
Resort hop on your next WDWR vacation. Its a great affordable alternative to pricey park tickets.
