She must be falling like one of the Family Guy characters if a fall left her disabled, disfigured, and unable to enjoy life. Girl must have been milking it for them big bucks. She did a triple backflip on her way down.
My first question is did she put water on the floor because of it was so far out of sight of other shoppers how would the water get there to begin with? Second question why did it take four months for her to file her suit? She sounds like a get rich quick kind of person and this is a flagrant misuse of justice.
I slipped and fell on black ice, dislocating my shoulders, breaking the humerus head in half on my dominant arm causing my right shoulder not to stay in the socket, I’m completely right handed. I went to work the next day with arm in sling. My left shoulder healed 85% of the way just with physical therapy after about 2 years. It still dislocates if I lift my arm above my head or attempt to brush my hair with my left arm. My right shoulder, I had 4 surgeries including a bone transplant in order just to keep it in the socket. I have minimal use of my dominant arm and I’m considered completely upper body disabled. I used to have long, beautiful, thick natural red hair. I can’t brush my own hair anymore so now I have to wear it short, it’s ugly.
It was almost a year before I found out that i’d never be able to work my normal job, and that I’d be dependent on someone to help me for the rest of my life. I filed suit on day 364 after falling. Depending on injury, waiting 4 months to sue might be the right time. Those whose injuries stand minimal to no chance of recovery (dominant arm amputated) will file a suit much sooner.
Hahahaha. Get up and look where you’re going!! Stop scamming… wait I am emotionally traumatized by reading this article, can be addedto uour lawsi?. I cant go on… Oh the humanity….
Disfigurement too, how in the heck? Lol, plus out of sight of guests & not to mention visited April ’21 & waited til 12/2/22 to decide to sue? Never ceases to amaze me how long people seem to wait after an incident then decide ‘Hey, I feel like suing!’
Purely grifting. Its not my fault – it’s somebody else’s fault preferably someone with deep pockets. On the other – and this is the population Disney is catering to – kind of serves them right.
Its got to be all.about the money. Everybody is sue happy. Like the person suing kraft mac and cheese. Its so much B.S. i hope the judge throws it out of court.
I wonder if I could sue the vet where I tripped over my shoe lace in the doorway and threw my bosses dog across the lounge? 🤔I mean they really should have signs to remind us to tie our shoes before entering!
So let me get this right. This is her claim “Ms. Reitz was shopping at Mickey’s of Hollywood when she, “without warning”, slipped and fell to the floor after losing her footing on a wet surface that was not marked and out of sight of the Guest.” So what i see here is that either there was no sign and the sign was out of sight? or, That she was in a spot she should not have been in.
Now for some other serious questions, Was the staff even aware that someone had spilled something onto the floor surface. If they were how long had passed since they were notified? Was the liquid spilled by the plaintiff or a member of her party? What were the injuries received and what is the prognosis? Now I understand that ITM has no one that can actually report a story and also they couldn’t have all their advertisements in the article if the article actually contained valuable content.
My final take is that the shyster lawyer has convinced them that Disney will settle, and they will get a settlement of 50 to 100 thousand dollars and with that the lawyer will get 10% of the settlement.,
Yep. Agree. I fell and slipped on a wet floor by the ice machine at a store. I got up and dusted myself off. Management took a report and I was on my way. Can’t tell you how many times I have fallen over the years. Never took the joy out of my life. I call BS.
I fail to see how a minor fall would cause a lawsuit. I would have to be presented with some kind of evidence of such an injury. Is Disney supposed to have an employee following every guest in an establishment to monitor every spill and jump in to get some kind of “fix” in place. Again, just the fact that there was water on the floor and a customer slipped and fell – I’ve been in those stores; there’s not that much room – isn’t enough to prove to me that this isn’t a total waste of time.
That is why Disney has Insurance!
The people that sue for Big $$$ are just gold diggers.
Insurance helps with coverage, for medical and lost work.
In Feb 2022 we were there and durning rope drop a rude man ran into my wife with a child stroller and knocked her to the ground. Her knee is still painful, but that is not Disney’s fault, but the fault of the guest, and Disney needs to control the rush during rope drop. Let people in slowly.
My wife tripped in Disney Springs over a raised covering of wires there for a concert the night before. She banged her face pretty badly. Also required some dental work. Disney paid all medical expenses but an attorney friend indicated a law suit could go on forever with no assurance of winning
We had a problem with leaving Fantasmic. They ushered us out the back way before they put up lighting like today. One of the wheelchairs wheels caught a big crack in the cement that we could not see in the dark. It broke the wheel. We were only on day 2 of a 10 day trip. Disney went well beyond by lending us a wheelchair for the remainder of the trip and paid to repair our chair.
If she was that hurt did they call an ambulance? Or did she brush it off at the time? Story doesn’t give much detail. People think $$$ when they know it’s Disney.
That’s what caught me. Unless she did something like bang her head on the way down I’m questioning that. I’ve slipped and fallen many times, even on some hard surfaces, and haven’t been disfigured.
Depending on if she broke something, if she broke something my guess is she’s not a gold digger, from my experience broke my tib fib two rods 18 screws , later from a fall it did change my life.
It CAN happen. I had a bad fall at work due to an unmarked floor that was still wet around the edges. It was hard to see and my hand became caught in a appliance handle, causing my back to wring like a dish rag. I am still working and just had my 7th spinal fusion last week. It happens.
On the other hand, a friend works at a small commercial airport and they have at least 2 “falls” per day.
She probably dumped the water on the floor herself. I don’t buy all those injuries. I think she and her lawyer are throwing it all on the wall to see what sticks. Such a con artist.
Many of these incidents sound kinda sketchy but I can speak from experience that I have a family member who was injured at Disney in an accident in Dec 2021 and Disney did nothing to try and make things right and to this day has not made her any settlement so eventually it’ll go to court unless Disney decides to pay up which is what they should have done a long time ago. So this family member of mine used an electric scooter to get around Disney because of age and when riding the bus from the resort to the park, had an accident leaving her with inoperable permanent shoulder damage. Usually the custom of Disney bus drivers is to strap a scooter down onto a bus and the user just stays seated on the scooter for the remainder of the trip. Well, this particular driver seemed very rushed and apparently didn’t strap it in correctly and while taking a turn rather quickly that the rest of us who were seated on the bus had to grab hold of something, the scooter became detached and tipped over. She caught herself with her arm and other people were attempting to lift the scooter back into an upright position while the driver did absolutely nothing but keep on driving and only pulled over when other people screamed at him to do so. Of course another bus came to get the other guests and take them on to the parks while the “higher ups” arrived to get statements and see if everyone was ok. My injured family member said she wanted medical attention and Disney never offered anything to her and my aunt had to call an Uber to get her to a doctor’s office in Orlando. She missed that day in the parks as well as the next day and Disney never offered to refund her or my aunt’s tickets (seeing as my aunt was taking care of her). They got an adjuster that never responded to calls or emails and when arriving back home in Ohio, they still hadn’t heard anything. My family member had to get physical therapy to regain partial use of the shoulder and finally got a lawyer because of Disney not responding or acknowledging that they still owed her any kind of settlement. She’s not sueing for big $ or for pain and suffering she just wants what traditionally Disney world have done in the past which is to refund park tickets if they were at fault for why you were unable to use them, pay for her Orlando doctor visit, pay for her physical therapy once she arrived home, and I believe some amount of pain and suffering money for the sole purpose of paying the lawyer. I don’t see how that is so unreasonable and why Disney or their insurance is still not wanting to pay up or why they didn’t just make things right and try to take care of the situation when it occurred. I’ve always thought that Disney traditionally had great customer service and if they messed up than they would make it right and then some but this is not the case anymore apparently. I understand there’s a lot of gold diggers trying to get rich off of a big corporation like Disney and that’s why Disney has a good legal team but they have taken it too far which is apparently you come here at your own risk and if you are hurt in a bus accident you’re on your own! Have a magical day as we bleed you dry for more $$$ and you sit in urgent care all day or in your room with bagged ice.
What she fell 10 stories and survived, I am sure she is fine she just wants the world to pay for her dysfunctional life. I hope she is rewarded with one dollar and then shown the door.
It was raining so my family and I popped into one of the stores. I slipped, both feet went up in the air. I grabbed a shelf (which was glass) and fell hard on the floor. Twisted my back so bad I had trouble walking. So I removed my flip flops. I didn’t cause a scene because I didn’t want to ruin our vacation. But the lady at the register told me to put my flip flops back on or she would call security. I tried to explain what happened. She cut me off and said she would call security and have me removed from the park. So I carefully put them back on and also carefully left the store. She had obviously had a bad day, but frankly so did I. These things happen. I was in a lot of pain but we paid a LOT for our trip and there was no way I was ruining it for me or my kids. I walked for a couple more hours and it got better. The next day we did a water park and I spent most of the day resting my back. But sue? Of course not
This is what I was expecting the story to explain. In Florida at Disney World, you most likely will experience sudden downpours. When this happens, everyone runs into the nearest store/building for shelter. The wet floor signs won’t be out right away, so maybe she was rushing into the store and slipped.
Stayed at the Grand Floridian, elderly mom tripped on a doorway threshold, broke both her arms. It was an accident…
Neither of us would have even thought to blame Disney.. the staff kindly helped with directing the ambulance crew to our rooms as we gathered our things…and helped with refunding our remaining night, obviously our trip was over. EMT/ ER and rehab covered by her insurance.
Reminds me of a video I saw on YouTube, where a guy runs in front of a car STOPPED at a red light, JUMPS ONTO the car hood, rolls himself ACROSS the hood from one side to the other, all the while moaning and groaning. Starts cussing at the driver that he’s gonna sue and blah blah blah, UNTIL the driver gets out and shows the “victim” his dashcam…the company that is being sued here should present store video as evidence. Bet this woman sat down carefully and then proceeded to cry out in pretend pain.
Oh Good grief! My Grandma fell in 1979 while shopping and she never complained. We all just took it as an accident. Not anyone’s fault at Disney World. People are just too Sue happy these days. Get over yourself and just accept that you slipped. It isn’t Disney’s fault. You could slip in your house and fall. Accidents happen. I mean I am sorry you fell and got hurt. But blaming the Disney Park for it is not going to change anything.
In 1997 my mom was getting out of the shower at one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness and had a terrible fall. We realized afterwards that the bottom of the bathtub was higher than the floor of the bathroom. Fortunately she only came away with a terrible black eye.
Years ago, I would agree with most of these comments that argue the seriousness of her fall. However, I myself have experienced something that would normally be a minor injury turn out to be a lifelong neurological pain disorder. In 2020 I slapped a basketball that was coming my way. Although it broke only one of my fingers, that finger and the one next to it are still sending messages to my brain (almost three years later) that they are broken. It is a rare condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I can empathize with her if she is experiencing something similar to this. However, I have to say that even though this may be the case, I don’t have enough information to determine if the lawsuit would be warranted, so therefore I’m not going to judge her.
Well she may be a scammer. Or not. It’s ingrained in us to “brush ourselves off” continue on. Many times this is ok. Sometimes it definitely not.
