This is & why DISNEY changed the Disability Disability Access Service (DAS). Which is a program offered at Walt Disney World theme parks to assist Guests who have difficulty tolerating extended waits in a conventional queue environment due to a disability. Now since both my son & I have a disability it’s not what one would call a “visible one”
So years prior I would always bring a certified doctor/specialist/physician & or etc with us. Just to be sure because you see Disney guest looking @you wondering why can your family get thru & how could they do it too. It’s hard enough worrying if I’m going to have a anxiety attack,PTSD, or if I won’t fall down due to my fibromyalgia & arthritis.
My son has a form of Autism, noise sensitivity, PTSD, anxiety/panic attacks. Yet when you look @ him he’s your #averageteen.
So when Disney had to put the yellow shoe down. On Disney guests HIRING “Handicap able Tour Guides” just to qualify for “DAS”. The entire community of disabled was outraged & hurt. So to see this still going on with such a little thing is hard to here.
Troubling in fact my family was just @WDW October/November. Hopefully we go back! Yet will it be worth all the headache,extra planning, preparation,rudeness of actual guests & oh so much more .
I agree with you and I do the same. I have a neurological disability that makes me clumsy when I walk. I look just fine and i can walk for short distances, but then you start to see my knees give out and things. People look at us all the time too. I always keep my medical record with me. It really annoys me when people abuse it.
Agree, I have sensory issues and anxiety that upsets my IBS and it has gotten worse since getting my gallbladder out. I apply for the das because of the fear of an “accident” if the IBS strikes in line. But on the flip side I also have the fear of people judging me. But I will gladly tell them, I would rather wait on line than have the issues I have.
People who pretend to be disabled or try to pass there pet off as service dog should be kicked out. Im disabled and use a scooter. I also have a service dog people like that make things harder for those of us that are disabled. If i have to bring a letter from my doctor thats fine or proof for my dog. It worth the trouble to keep the services avaliable for people who need it and stop people who dont from taking advantage. Or from male things even harder for us.
On our last visit in Fall we brought our two adult “kids” with us. Our son had a stroke at 24. He has nerve damage in his left leg and has to walk with a cane for support. We did all the parks on a 7 day trip. Not once did my son ask for any special treatment, nor use a scooter. He never complained one. We were aware, but he wasn’t having it. So when I see acts of deceit like this. It truly upsets me when I know there are people who are truly disabled . Morals and conscience seem to have gone by the wayside. I’m truly proud of my son. He didn’t want any help. We took it slow and we enjoyed the experience as a family.
People who watch all the Disney movies and characters amd still get the idea that this is acceptable behavior truly do not understand either the characters or the stories, amd deserve nothing more than to be permanently banned from Disney property.

The amount of judgement and stares is humiliating. I have friends who have been berated by people who think we should be visibly disabled. I try to ignore it. They aren’t Dr. Some people argue and demand to know what’s wrong with you. It’s just unbelievable. I don’t mind carrying a card for verification to rent a chair or scooter, but I’m not going to list my medical history on it. I’m also not going to use it to prove to anyone who questions that right, unless they are in a position of authority.
And anyone out there who is judging a person who looks healthy- stop it. You don’t know, and don’t have a right to know. Put yourself in our position.
