As a former evacuee from The Little Mermaid ride at DCA, we were in a car that was stopped in the second scene before the exit. Cast Members start at the point farthest from entrance to release guests from the cars. This way they can keep an eye on the crowds as they are herded out, knowing that there are no guests behind them. It was frustrating to see a long line of guests filing by to the exit we could see but were stuck in our cars. Some guests just climbed over clam shell doors when they realized it was going to be awhile before the Cast Members got to them. While I didn’t like waiting, there are reasons behind the procedure. Keeping guest safe and keeping an eye on guests who could cause mischief in the ride due to not enough supervision.

100% being honest here— I would have a flat out panic attack if I were stuck in one of those cars.
