    1. Temperance

      That poor bride🤣🤣

  2. Holly Hagelin

    That is a rattlesnake!
Staff/DNR should have been notified immediately!!!!
Harmless or not, all snakes will bite out of fear/in defense.

    1. Mickey

Holly, you are not even close. You can see the tail and clearly it is not a rattler. That is a python, and they are actually an invasive species that has been plaguing Florida for years

      1. Rhonda

Glad the mistake was noticed….that bride would have been pretty freaked out by a python. Big difference between a bride amd a bridge’

      2. N.R.R.

You’re not any better then Holly with your snake ‘knowledge’. Burmese Pythons are down south in the Everglades area, not in the slightly more temperate area of Central Florida. The body structure and color is wrong for a Burmese not to mention how small it is. It’s a common water snake. Another picture in this article showed a black racer in the grass. In all there were 3 pictures in this article of 3 different snake encounters. None of them were anything close to ‘massive’, none of them were venomous and they weren’t even the same species. Stop fearmongering.

Yes, August of 2016, while leaving Discovery Island of Animal Kingdom. A snake was on the move in the pathway as we were exiting the park. I didn’t see it until I was right upon it so I attempted to jump over it. I ended up with a charley horse in my calf and hurting myself in my moment of panic. I was wheelchaired out of the park. Thankfully it was our last day of our vacation.

    2. N.R.R.

Seriously? That looks nothing close to a rattlesnake. It looks like a common water snake which is harmless. Stop fearmongering, you have no idea what you’re talking about so running your mouth is not appreciated.

  3. Saw plenty of snakes at Animal Kingdom were I worked.
That snake looks like a copperhead. Not a rattlesnake.

    1. N.R.R.

Here we go again It’s a common water snake. It looks NOTHING like a Copperhead. So far this snake has been identified as a rattlesnake, a Burmese Python and now you saying it’s a Copperhead. Its a non venomous native species of harmless water snake. Ironically this snake gets miss identified as a venomous Water Moccasin (also called a Cottonmouth) which it does bear a vague resemblance to, but not by the ‘experts’ here.

“Massive”. I was thinking anaconda from that description 🤣
That is a “snake” sized snake, and a copperhead at that

    1. N.R.R.

🤣🤣 it’s nothing close to a Copperhead. Its a water snake. You wouldn’t know a Copperhead if you had one in your hand. 🤣🤣

  5. Mickey Mouse

I hope that the bride is okay!!!

    1. Iykyk

That no one else mentioned that pretty significant typo…

    2. Nan

      I saw it immediately!!

  6. Troy

Yes. I saw a water moccasin at Disney’s Caribbean. I was also at Disney when the alligator attacked the little boy at the Grand Floridian.

    1. Wenawen

A snake on the development in the middle of swampland? SHOCKING! The fact that this is “news” is sad.

      1. Mary

I’ve had run ins 3 out of 4 of our last trips to Disney with snakes and believe me I’m scared to death of them! Once while sitting on the wall waiting for fast pass to ride Aerosmith ride, one was 6 inches away from my back in the bushes, thank my husband for getting me up, almost stepped on one coming back from Caribbean cafe one evening taking pizzas back to room and once while staying at pop century, wanted to get a head start putting bags in the van the night before leaving, big black snake laying on sidewalk, walked right beside it before I saw it with all the bags, of course all the bags went flying as I’m now screaming for my life! Now when ever we go I’m ALWAYS looking like I have a dozen eyes in my head, lol

  7. Stephanie

Yeah you do need to stay away from that one. It looks like a Water Moccasin. Extremely dangerous. They are also known as Cottonmouths. They can be aggressive.

    1. N.R.R.

It’s a common water snake which can be mistaken for Water Moccasins by those that don’t know any better. I’ve owned snakes nearly my whole life and used to have a permit to own venomous reptiles. I’ve owned several Water Moccasins and there is no Moccasin in any of those pictures. In fact it’s not even the same breed of snake in the 3 pictures in this ‘article’ for that matter.

  8. Mason

Hey once a swamp always a swamp.

  9. Candace

A black snake decided to take a swim with my family while we were in the hot tub at OKW. Not an experience I recommend 🤣

  10. Robert

Saw a Florida Ring Neck near the wedding pavilion on one visit. It quickly slithered away.

    1. heather

Was it under a bride, like the one in the article? (What a typo that was, lol!)

We are Disney Vacation Club members. Always stay at Saratoga Springs each year. Not uncommon to see critters at the Congress Park pool. This past October we found a snake in the 1st floor hallway of our hotel, ugh!! Our room was on the 1st floor, so for the rest of our stay we placed a towel up against the bottom of the door while in the room. Thankfully nothing came in while we were out of our room. Disney needs to close the gaps at the bottom of doors for safety purposes

  12. Rw

Seen a snake say it isn’t so in South Florida!!!! Under the bride!!!! Massive OMG give me a break. BTW it’s a copper head.

    1. N.R.R.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 You couldn’t tell aCopperhead from a garden hose if your life depended on it. It’s a water snake.

  13. In 1979 I visited Disney World. It was a whole lot smaller then and they were still building a lot of the attractions. In one of the parking lots, under our car I spotted a gorgeous 4 1/2 foot Corn snake relaxing in the shade. To prevent it being run over, I managed to catch it and released it in a nearby wooded area. Highlight of my trip since I have always been fond of snakes! So much of their natural habitat has been destroyed they have no choice but to take shelter wherever they can.

  14. Jayne1955

It used to be a swamp. Yes, there’s going to be snakes. No one should be surprised. I can never understand when people are shocked to find out there are snakes and alligators in Florida.

  15. W. Johnson

Yes, years ago when we were doing a “Behind the Scenes Tour” of the Magic Kingdom, we spotted one gliding through the water in a holding pond. Remember, they were here long before we were and just leave them alone.

  16. Ben

A few years ago we were in line to go into the Haunted Mansion and a large snake swam from our side over to a dock on Tom Sawyer Island.

  17. Jen

I seen alot of snakes at the beach club villas

  18. I worked at Epcot but while at Hollywood studios waiting to get on slinky dog, a 20 or so inch snake crossed the wait line and into bushes. Epcot at night there are bunnies everywhere

  19. Mary

snake crossed our path while walking one of the trails in Animal Kingdom. not something I wanted to see but it was Animal Kingdom.

  20. Chris

Welcome to Planet Earth. Now leave the snakes and other wildlife alone and go on your way.

  21. Desiree

We’ve seen wild rabbits at Epcot, and two alligators swimming in Frontierland!

  22. Phillip

It’s Florida. Moved to Florida in the seventies with my parents and us “Northerns” weren’t prepared! From the “Waterbugs” (think of roaches on steroids), snakes, never ending mosquitoes and rain! Glad to be back in the North!!!!

  23. Lisa

I saw a snake creeping out from a light post that had a hole in the base and quickly vacated the area. Don’t know what kind it was other than a snake. gross

  24. Bubbajohn

    Banded water snake

  25. heather

If one taps on the photo in the Twitter message, it will take you to the actual tweet. You can read it without downloading the Twitter app & the comments state it is a water snake. You may also enlarge the photo of the snake under the bridge (not brude, as stated in the article) to get a better look at the snake & the designs on it.

  26. EM

Your idea of Massive and mine are completely different

  27. Sharon

Back in the 80’s we saw a snake near Jungle Cruise at Disney World. It went into the bushes so we told a Cast Member, who started to look for it.

  28. Mason

Yes, July 2021 while watching fireworks at the back of Fort Wilderness. It was small but nonetheless a snake.

  29. Randy

Crazy Disney snake story that would never happen today. Back in the 80’s there was an attraction called Mickey’s Birthday Land that you had to take a train to. My family was first in line waiting on the platform for the next train. Some cast members noticed a snake on the tracks that had been decapitated by the train. It’s headless body was still writhing around. A young cast member thought our vacation needed a little extra magic. He approaches my six year old brother and asks if he wants to see something cool. He proceeds to lift my brother over the barricade and place him at the edge of the platform. He then takes a stick and lifts the headless, writhing snake and places at my brother’s feet! Needless to say, my brother is still traumatized to this day 🤣🤣🤣! Too bad these were the days before cell phone cameras…we probably could’ve parlayed this trauma into a free vacation!
