I read Disney closed down Pleasure Island because of too much drugs and gangs showing up resulting in many arrests. They wanted to go back to a cleaner more family friendly environment. Universal’s City Walk may be more adult oriented.
Any nightlife, and the ghetto of Orlando (who never spend money), show up to fight, drive around with their childish lit up cars and loud mufflers and cause trouble. Look at the crowd in the video and the music. Those were the last of the civilized crowds.

The alternative is the family areas end up being full of people behaving like they’re in an adult area.
