This whole influencer thing has gotten out of hand.
WDWR should follow what TDLR is implementing by banning certain filming.
If consent with permission is the issue and so many are making money off the influencing thing…Question comes to mind…Do all these influencers who are making money off the Walt Disneys Company IPs , Parks and Resorts (in the videos you see Disney imagery, music, sounds, etc., and also what about all the other guests that day in the park have they given consent to the influencers too?) have permission from Disney to do so?
First of all, sadly, if you are out in a public place; consent is not needed for someone recording you. Now if they were in their house or car, that’s a different story.
Second; I’m conflicted on the vloggers. Without Molly McCormick or Best Life and Beyond or Provost Parks (also DFB and WDW Couple), i wouldn’t have been able to manipulate, err I mean, CONVINCE my disney hater husband to go Disneyland this year. They’ve also helped me know how to use Genie +, what restaraunts are worth it, tips n tricks for first timers.
I feel the same way especially about some of the influencers. Now I like Jojo hes actually been pretty decent .when you’re in a public place like that when you’re filming say your family on a ride do you get consent from others riding the ride? I mean there’s a fine line in this .It doesn’t bother me that they film these content videos because that’s what got a lot of people through the pandemic and helps a lot of people plan their vacations. Molly and all the all ears people now Molly with mam fam. Disney food blog Tim Tracker , Magical Hijinxs and Jojo we’re what really helped not only me but a lot of other people. Truthfully I blame a lot of these TikToker’s and vloggers that try to stir the pot as the problem. I think people have become just Rude and I’m not just talking the bloggers this young man is more or less sounding like hes mad that Jojo is successful and his vlog is not as successful that’s what it kind of comes off as. But again you’re in Disney thousands of people taking videos and pictures of their family and friends you might be in the background should they have come to you and asked for your permission ? I agree with a lot of what people are saying but I also think that some of the vloggers are necessary the ones who have manners and respect for others.
Used to be just a handful of regular influencers, but Disney has been fostering influencers for the free advertising & publicity for years now and it’s attracted others trying to get in on the game. I don’t see Disney coming down too hard on them being a advertising gravy train for them. Not until they decide to step up their own advertising, beyond the “here’s our latest deals!” type of stuff that they’ve been doing for years. Maybe Disney should curate their own marketing group of “influencers” to do the same things regularly that the influencers are doing and showing. They fill the content gap themselves and then they can freeze out their influencer “base”.
I wish parks would prohibit it. Lights glaring on rides, so called influencers think they own the park. Sorry but if I am walking by you get 5 seconds and I am walking in front of your camera.
I never had an issue until this last trip. First I had a guy videoing his Guardians experience, which would have been fine except he had the camera turned on me. It started as we were leaving the ride building and continued to the main walkway. It was so crowded I couldn’t figure out a different way to avoid him. I also thought that he’d stop eventually but he didn’t. Then, the next day, my daughter and I had been enjoying the pool at our resort when we decided to take a bathroom break. Another guy was set up right outside the bathroom! Seriously? And when he turned the camera around, you had a view of the pool. Argue all you want about public, private, whatever, but this was ridiculous. I don’t even like my own family to video me and I honestly felt violated after this experience. Nothing like walking out of the bathroom to see yourself on a vlogger’s screen.

If they film me without consent which yes they can do in public spaces and they make money on the video, I want a piece of the pie!

Influencers should be BANNED! Unless a guest is filming his/her own family as a memento, no one should be filming. It’s annoying as heck.

Disney is private property can you stop referencing it as a “public” space.
