Thank you. Welcome back to putting Disney back to where it was. Our visit to Old Key West was so different to what we have enjoyed for the last 25 years. Looking forward to next year.
Chapek wasn’t there long enough to develop his own legacy. Iger is dismantling his own misguided legacy since he’ll be gone in 2 years or maybe longer. This is so hilarious. Disney fans actually wanted higher prices to temper overcrowding. It didn’t work because demand remains high.
I will NOT be stepping foot back in those parks until prices improve. I refuse to buy Genie+ or Lightning Lane passes. FastPass worked just fine, why pay extra?! It’s just plain greedy and keeping lower income families out!
We will be visiting for the first time since the pandemic and I admit I’m feeling anxiety. Not happy about losing the spontaneity of a Disney trip with having to reserve parks etc. please bring back the old dining plan and fast passes. Not a fan of genie plus and lightning lane Hoping for the best with our trip next month. And disappointed about losing daily housekeeping
Really? Never once did I ever think” gee, I hope Disney is way more expensive this year. And if all my dreams come true they’ll institute more charges for parking, give crappy service, stop cleaning resort rooms, let trash float around the parks, make it necessary to pay more attention to our cell phones than anything going on around us,abbreviate shows, discontinue amenities and downgrade food quality and portions.” But you think a lot of people were happy with that and looking forward to more? Are you Mr. Chapek?
Can you please please bring back the bus transportation to the resorts????? This is how the magic and excitement begins. Being on that bus after getting off the airplane was always the best way to start your trip off. We go in October and pray that the transportation is back so our kids can experience the magic we did as kids also.
It’s a start. Need to remove the whole ridiculous reservation system and get rid of Genie Plus System, or limit it like they did with the free passes. Some days I feel the Genie line is longer than the.standby line, just a shorter que to walk through.
I totally agree with that comment about the Reservations system they need to get rid of that and annual pass prices have gone up I will not be renewing
Reservations at least at Disneyland are never going away. The only thing that could happen is no reservations for day ticket holders. But they should never remove them for annual passholders. The parks would be overrun.
Please keep Splash Mountain as it is in Disneyland and in the Magic Kingdom! Give Tiana her own restaurant or ride! They talked about expanding the Magic Kingdom at D23. It was to include: Coco, Encanto, and Disney Villains. So why not put Tiana’s Palace there? It could be an amazing Cajun restaurant with a jazz band and character meet and greet!!
Maybe Disney can bring back annual passes and not limit the amount of times they can go by blocking them out because there isn’t a reservation available. Sorry as a local I don’t always plan what day we will go to the park…. Kind of why I bought an annual! And maybe Disney can charge 3 or 4 hundred for parking and u get to park right in the park!!! I feel bad for everyone who actually pays to park in these lots.
Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears for Bob Chapek. Good riddance.
These are baby steps. There’s more to come. Iger will repair the company’s relationship with the people and the cast members. Hoping for good things in 2023.
I am most concerned about the political hash being pushed on families. We won’t be back until Disney kicks wokism to the curb and returns their attention to healthy family fun. The park changes need to happen to bring back the magic but still not taking my family to politics that cater to the select few and shove crap in the faces of the majority. Walt’s dream was for families to have a magical place of fun. Make it happen Eisner or there is no magic left.
What do you consider”wokism”?Is that to mean
That people and families of some kinds shouldn’t feel the magic of Disney? People seem to be using that term to relegate others to some lesser status than themselves. Is being “woke” the opposite of willfully ignorant?
“wokism” is a conservative construct that means absolutely nothing. It is used when ever any conservative can not outwardly describe the actual item that they do not like. Or, most likely, when a conservative doesn’t have any clear understanding of a specific situation but is told by Faux News that it is “bad”
This isn’t “dismantling a legacy”. This is trying to right several wrongs. We all blame Evil Bob for the nickel and diming, and rightfully so. Good Bob is trying to cosmically rewind the mess. Look how much he’s done since Thanksgiving. Keep it up, maybe disgruntled fans will return
Mr. Iger,
Please listening what everyone is saying, go back and preserve Walt’s & Roy’s & all the Imagineers that helped make Disney what it was before all this mess started. Bring quick menu planning back, extra hours for everyone at night and morning, do away Genie+ or Lightning Lane passes and put Fast Pass back on. Least keep Splash Mountain as it is in Disneyland and in the Magic Kingdom! Give Tiana her own restaurant or ride! They talked about expanding the Magic Kingdom at D23. It was to include Coco, Encanto, and Disney Villains. So why not put Tiana’s Palace there? It could be an amazing Cajun restaurant with a jazz band and character meet and greet!!Oh yes, it is happening and you couldn’t be more wrong about Song of the South. I have a time machine and confirm that Splash Mountain is still there for WDW’s 75th in 2046 and in 2055 for Disneyland’s centennial. Tiana will never get any attractions. I have seen Song of the South and so have my kids. Billions have seen it and there is nothing wrong with it .
These are some of the things that people are talking about.
When my little granddaughter was 4 years old , she asks Papa when you are going to me to Dizney World and when we did, I saw the excited in her eyes and the laughter of what she saw all around her. Disney is in the hearts of all children and adults. There is a little girl in all women and little boys in all men especially at Dizney (Disney)World.
I am reserving judgment for now. I don’t see any changes for people outside of Florida residents so far. Talk to you after I see some pricing changes and the dining plan being re-instituted.
My family has been going to Disney every 2-4 years for the last 20+ years, typically scheduled around the “free” meal plan times (which are now gone). We always loved going but had to be budget minded which included driving from NY a few times to avoid flight charges. Since our last visit pre-Covid it seems like the company is pushing to the upper middle class who can afford to pay for parking at resorts, the Genie+, stay at the higher end resorts to get the extra magic hours, etc. The prices kept going up while the services and experiences provided became sub-par. The shift to coddle the woke culture is just insane and disappointing. Its like Disney was trying to forced me to like a movie character instead of just letting us enjoy it.
I’m glad to see the return of Iger as I vowed to never step foot in Disney while Chapek was ruining the show. I’m excited by the recent changes and hopeful that Disney will return to some form of it’s former glory and wonderment.
Get rid of the reservation system ,that’s what has been keeping me from going I would always wait to buy my 3day park hoppers till I knew for sure we were a go ,if u reserve early and something happens u cant get ur money back ,even the airlines are crooked ,they kept all my funds when Disneyland shut down they just took my 1000 dollars and refuse to give me credit
How is it Disney/ Chapek/Iger believe it’s been okay for the prices to go up, while the amenities and free perks go away? I’m so glad to see Iger start to return Disney back to the kind of magical experience Walt and Roy envisioned. But, Iger has a lot of work to do. I also understand we live in a different world than Walt had pictured. And Iger has to answer to a Board and to stock holders.
But Disney is a unique company. There has to be a balance between profit and magical experience. Otherwise they may as well be a Six Flags. Michael Eisner was able to find that balance and grow Disney’s experience level. Here are some suggestions:
> Since it is going to be very hard for Iger to lose the revenue from Genie+/Lightning Lanes, perhaps reinstate the Fastpass system for all ticket holders. But, limit each person to only one ride per day. After that, they can purchase the Genie+/Lightning Lane passes for any additional rides.
> Resort guests pay a lot to stay at a Disney hotel, bring back daily housekeeping!
> Resort guests deserve more perks for paying such a high premium. Perhaps free refillable soda and water while in parks and at counter service food? Or maybe coupons for one free in park snack per day? And maybe a 20% off coupon for your first merchandise item for resort guests? It’s these small perks that don’t cost Disney very much, that make folks feel magical and make it worth staying at a Disney property.
> ALL resort guests should have access to After hours and Early Morning Hours
> Keep expanding the parks with NEW attractions (not just changing theme of existing ride). It’s been several years since any solid large ride or new land announcements. You’re in a slump. What’s next? D23 only included vague ideas. Nothing solid? Meanwhile over at Universal….
> Perhaps it’s time for an entire NEW park at WDW. Same in Anaheim, but a lot harder due to space restrictions (maybe time to buy out some of the cheezy small motel properties nearby?)
> Open Tron the week of March 25th (since this is when I’m coming with my 2 daughters) and we really want to ride it!
The way things were going, Disney was alienating it’s loyal followers, many who are leaving because the magic is gone. And it’s very hard to attract new loyal customers. Although new guests may be filling the parks now, that’s because of the post-covid surge being experienced throughout the travel industry. Eventually the surge will go back to normal. But if Disney continues to provide a sub-par experience at the highest prices in the industry, they’ll lose their devoted clientele who will find another, new experience to latch onto leaving Disney without return business, which is vital for their future succedd.
One of the best features of Disney World was flying down to Orlando and not worrying about how to get to the hotel and back to the airport. The shuttle buses were a great feature even if it was in the cost of the trip. Made your vacation that much more relaxing.
Very happy that the removed the parking fee for resort guests. I would like to see Resort guests get free Genie+, in the past Resort guests got free fast pass. Tickets and rooms are so expensive, this would help the guests stay in the resorts.
They need to rethink excluding what they are now calling “value” and “moderate” resort guests from being able to attend extra magic evening hours. We are ALL resort guests, paying extra money to stay on Disney property. By excluding some resorts because they don’t pay enough is creating a caste system. How about we just put dots in the middle of our foreheads, and then you can exclude us from other resort perks, which seem to be dwindling every year!
Chapek was the right man for course correcting Disney films, putting them back onto a path of making money and not propaganda but he was the wrong man to handle the parks as he had a reputation for being Mr Cheapscape which was fine as long as he wasn’t fully in charge. Its surprising to see Iger rolling back so many of these so quickly in light of what that will cost Disney in the short term but it’s the smart change over the long term
Magical Express please! I can not overstate the impact that our first Magical Express ride from the airport had on my first Disney Parks experience. My family dragged me kicking and screaming on our first trip. Something changed when we got on the bus. The cartoons began playing, “Gus” appeared on screen, and I could see the excitement and anticipation building in my children’s eyes as we rolled closer to Walt Disney. I must confess; for the first time I was becoming excited about our trip as the full Disney Bubble Experience began to unfold. I was hooked, and it all started with Magical Express.
No Uber can do that.
1. Get rid of park reservations. We lose the spontanaity that we want while on vacation.
2. Bring back Dining Plans. They were a great way for us to enjoy meals while advance budgeting.
3. Bring back Annual Passes.
4. Clean up the parks.
Comments for Disney Dismantles Bob Chapek’s Legacy in One Day, More Coming Soon?

More is to come.
Stay faithful, Disney will do more in reversing things instituted under previous management.
Parks, Resorts, TV, Movies, Animation, and Corporate, so many changes are going to take place.

Thank you. Welcome back to putting Disney back to where it was. Our visit to Old Key West was so different to what we have enjoyed for the last 25 years. Looking forward to next year.

Lets hope so Disney MUST go back and preserve Walt’s & Roy’s & all the Imagineers that helped make Disney what it was before all this mess started.
Al
I wss MOST excited when they returned the return of the nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom… oh wait! They STILL haven’t announced that.
D
Amen Mr.Iger. Thank you. Hopefully they will bring back extra hours for everyone at night.
Steve
Chapek is Iger’s legacy. Don’t accept less. Make them at least lie to you that it’s rain.
PPP
Chapek wasn’t there long enough to develop his own legacy. Iger is dismantling his own misguided legacy since he’ll be gone in 2 years or maybe longer. This is so hilarious. Disney fans actually wanted higher prices to temper overcrowding. It didn’t work because demand remains high.

Steve
Totally agree. Bring back fast pass and dining plan so people with families can plan a vacation and know the expense.
Terrie
The more expensive it got the worse the guests acted and the dirtier the parks became.
I just want the magic back!
fu
cool one less loser in the park
Lenice
Agreed

They won’t bring that back I’m afraid as it’s being replaced by a train from the airport to the resort.
Pete
The train line is no longer going towards Disney Springs area. Seems Universal managed to get the train to stop near them however.
Amanda L
I’m going in October too and I’ve had so much anxiety about what the cheapest mode of transport will be from the airport.
Lenice
Discontinuing the Magical Express was so wrong.

It’s a start. Need to remove the whole ridiculous reservation system and get rid of Genie Plus System, or limit it like they did with the free passes. Some days I feel the Genie line is longer than the.standby line, just a shorter que to walk through.

Sorry but as much money as Annual Passholds pay for their passes they should get no reservations just like it use to be .
Jo
Big freaking deal. You pay 4 times that for Genie for a family of 4. Pathetic. People are so brainwashed they think this is a good thing. 🙄

That’s not happening. Splash is now Tiana’s.
No one has seen Song of the South in 30 years. Walt himself would have changed the theme of Splash by now.

I agree

Amen! Was looking so forward to becoming a passholder when I moved to Florida almost 2 years ago but the pixie pass stinks!
Serena
That will never happen, especially for passholders. They make the parks too crowded so reservations are necessary.
DHC
Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears for Bob Chapek. Good riddance.

I hope so too. You can already feel the more positive vibes starting to well up! I’m hopeful.

Stay out of politics. I am not paying a fortune to go on a magical vacation to have someone else’s political agenda shoved down my throat.
