Correction: we don’t know when Splash Mountain in California will go down for the change, only when Florida is. Many YouTube pages are speculating it will be after Toontown opens with so many attractions having scheduled maintenance between now and then. So we still have some time in California.
Insulting? I still don’t understand the author’s point. Star Wars has an ENTIRE LAND dedicated towards it. Having both a Princess & the Frog restaurant and Ride doesn’t seem excessive or insulting.
Sounds like the author just has a love for Uncle Remus and his joyous days spending nights telling his slaveowner’s kids stories about Briar Rabbit after his days in the cotton fields. Which I get, but I’m not insulted at all about more beignet options at Disneyland.
Spoken like someone who has never tasted Disney’s insulting excuse for Cajun cuisine they serve at the current Tiana’s on board the cruise ships.
The only thing I’ve eaten there that wasn’t gross to borderline inedible, was the “gumbo” – which tasted more like watered down tomato soup with chicken, shrimp, rice and a little okra added. Their idea of Cajun fish is covering it in Cayenne pepper until it looks like the fish is dyed red, and their cornbread stuffing makes for a great rendition of the Sword in the Stone if you somehow manage to penetrate it with a fork.
I am 100% certain, if Disney had done as the author suggests, and added a Tiana’s restaurant and then expanded with a ride, people would be even more upset than they are about the reno of Splash Mountain – nothing about Disney’s current meal offerings branded with Tiana’s name leaves any kind of endearment towards that movie.
Correction Get Serious: YOU’VE been groomed and indoctrinated! Learn to accept differences of opinion and then, maybe then, YOU won’t have the closed mind.
I’ve said from the beginning that Princess and the Frog would be a great movie for it’s own attraction. However, the Splash Mountain redurb was the wrong way to do it. It should have been it’s own innovative dark ride with cutting edge PRACTICAL effects. It could anchor a small New Orleans Square expansion to Liberty Square that would include Tiana’s Place. Maybe later on we could add a bayou expansion between New Orleans and Frontierland that partially makes use of the existing Mark Twain Riverboats.
All I know is, Walt Disney would be going crazy right now. He made a Park for everyone to enjoy. Trying to make everyone happy is insane. Today’s way of advertising is just so wrong. To portray a society of people that doesn’t live like that.
There has been so much “wokeness” stuffed down everyone’s collective throats that even a “good fit” like this for Tiana is vulnerable for pushback.
It’s simply a question of motivation. Does the change fit the story plot and theme park or is it forced for political or cultural reasoning? In this case, the restaurant in New Orleans Sq. is very good fit.
I agree with you. There are rumors that that the re theme of Splash Mountain is happening at Walt Disney World in Florida only and the Disneyland version of Splash Mountain in California is staying the way it is because the concept art that we saw a few years earlier matched the Walt Disney World Splash Mountain.
Comments for New Disneyland Announcement Is Borderline Insulting

Disney has always been “late to the party” in attractions, dining ,resorts.
However its worth the wait.

Some things can be just left alone and be representative of idealised real places rather than having IP shoved down our throats.

People are never going to be satisfied. Too much, not enough! I liked it when Disney was a fun place to take children without all the politics!!

Much better to be “woke” than a closed-minded pos
wesley
Nah. Being woke just means you can’t think on your own and get any ideas or thoughts spoon fed to you from social media.
H
If you’re woke, you are closed minded. It’s the definition of woke.

Wasn’t Princess and theFrog a BOMB at the box office and killed 2d animation?

They should leave the ride with the Song of the South theme and build Tiana’s restaurant.
