Stealing strollers is nothing new at Disneyworld. If you have young children it is the biggest pain ever. Back in the old Disney days, we rented Disney strollers and rest assure,at least once if not more it was stolen. My favorite experience was in Epcot the stroller was stolen. I had put a very discreet identification on it. When going through the line of strollers,I found it along with someone’s else stuff in it. In addition, there was no family name card on it. My solution, dump their crap on the grass and take the stroller I paid for back. We then got a replacement card showing our receipt. Some people are just rude. They don’t even realize that you can get crying kids because of this.
I have a disabled child and if someone stole my stroller it would be trip over for us! So unfortunately our solution as a family is to do a ride swap thing. I stay with the kids while daddy takes 1 or 2. Then I go with the other and daddy stays with the stroller and such. Thankfully for most character greetings and shows we can all go together. Makes us only get to do hal of what we want but like I said a stolen stroller would prevent us from doing anything else because my son can’t walk long distances.
I see two possible solutions to this; unless something has changed recently in the parks, merchandise can be shipped to a Disney Resort. If you’re NOT staying on property or have personal items that you cannot carry with you, I highly recommend renting a locker (believe they’re $10). Although it can be somewhat of an inconvenience to have to walk back to the lockers (which are at the main entrance to the parks) it might be worth the trek to prevent theft. Just my ideas.
VERY GOOD IDEA!!!!
I rented lockers for my stuff. Just pick it up on the way out. Comes in handy in January when the weather can get cold and having an extra sweater or jacket available is a plus. Disney stores don’t usually have what’s needed for cold weather.
Disney should put their own trackers on the strollers in a placement where they cannot be removed and put the tracking either on an app or give the customer a tracker. Also, Disney should put covers on their strollers that can be locked so that merchandise is not visible, thus taking away the temptation and availability for theft.
We have our own wheelchair that, for certain rides, we park and my Mother walks onto the ride. I have always put a chain on a wheel, so it doesnt get stolen and take all our stuff with us. It is a sad fact that crime doesn’t disappear on a holiday, even in Disney.
Considering that I recently purchased a car seat / stroller combo for our grand child that costs upwards of $600, yes, I can absolutely see installing a lock or alarm on it in public. It will probably have a discreetly placed air tag as well. It’s ridiculous that people feel that it is ok to steal other people’s things.
This has been going on for a long time, I remember back in the usenet days of alt.rec.disney there was some advice about this. It was to get a large clear plastic zip lock bag, put an extra diaper in it, (clean) and pour half a can of coke or dr pepper in the bag, so it is clearly both ‘wet’ and ‘dirty’. Hook it on the handle of the stroller, and people will avoid it.
I don’t recommend putting motion alarms on the stroller, as it is true that cast members often need to be able to move the stroller to reorganize the rows and keep things tidy and the walk ways clear. Trackers however, are a good idea, although this type of crime does not happen nearly as often as this article implies, it’s still always a good idea to keep your valuable possessions in your own possession.
Who leaves merchandise in a stroller? Probably the same people who leave their purses in a shopping cart and turn away from it. Or leave a dressing room to go get different clothes to try on and leave their purse in it. Maybe because I’m from Chicago. We don’t do things like that.
For those who want to lock the stroller or put an alarm on it, cast members move them constantly. Don’t make their job harder.
Well a motion alarm is a lil extreme but I would go with a bike lock or an air tag.. after our last trip to Disneyland we plan on putting an air tag on our stroller. We parked our stroller between 2 disneyland rental strollers along with all these other strollers by storybook land ride in fantasyland to ride the teacup ride. After we got off the ride I went to look for our stroller but it was no longer between the 2 disneyland strollers so I looked down by Casey jr’s stroller parking area but nothing, then I looked at the stroller parking between royal reception and Pinocchio and still no stroller found. Went to ask a CM about my stroller and they told me it should be parked in those areas and so I double checked again and nothing and then I went back to where I originally parked our stroller and I saw another CM move a guest stroller that was parked where I parked my stroller between the 2 disneyland rental strollers and she moved that stroller towards the Matterhorn and so I followed the CM to see where she was parking that guest’s stroller and low and behold my stroller was parked by the Matterhorn stroller parking area. 30min of my time was wasted looking around for my stroller. Was very frustrated and angry. We thought our stroller was stolen. Why would they move the stroller from fantasyland and park it over by Matterhorn when there was plenty of space in the fantasyland stroller parking areas. What also got me upset was that they never moved the Disneyland rental strollers only the guest’s personal strollers. What’s up with that. 😡 But definitely placing an air tag on our stroller just so we don’t waste time looking for our stroller just in case the CM end up moving our stroller to the small world stroller parking from fantasyland next time 🤦🏻♂️
I bring a blanket and cover my stuff. With 2 kids I can’t be worrying about merchandise. I limit my purchases to or buy at the end when park closes on main Street.
Alot of disney merchandise is 💩. Bubble wands break same day.

I love Disney
Have you considered buying a large bike lock and lock the strollers back wheels together while parked? Doing ride share all the time sucks.
Sharon
Good for you! Dump their stuff. If they could shop and pay for things why can’t they pay to rent a stroller? Cheapskates!!!
DONNA DUPLAY
YES, ! ALLOW GUESTS TO USE MOTION ALARMS OR TRACKERS WHILE VISIITING THE PARKS TO PROTECT THEIR BELONGINGS WHILE ON ATTRACTIONS OR RIDES..

They no longer send back to your resort per our visit the week after Thanksgiving 2022.

Castmembers DO sometimes have to move the strollers. Alarms would definitely be a problem.
