Initially, comedy was sort of a safety valve in the Marvel films. A change of pace that allowed for some tension relief. Unfortunately, it went over so well that it began to become more of the focus. Instead of off hand quips or funny results that were part of the story (like the mishaps Tony had during the development of his armor, or Thor getting repeatedly run over), it has morphed into slapstick, where scenes appear to be set up mostly just to get to the punch line. They need to get back to action movies with some witty comedy relief.
Once the X-Men are added to the MCU (hopefully done right this time) well see a “corretion” of sorts on the direction of the MCU.Just as long as they keep the “timeline” in check all is good.
