Honestly, Disney shouldn’t plan on any expansions until EVERYTHING is back up and running first.

    1. Davidc

Actually they can and need to do both. They also need to work faster to get projects done and running. Drawn will be over 5 yeand construction when it finally opens in the Spring.

A day late and a dollar short Disney. Universal Epic Universe will put Universal Studios on par with your parks. Now you are trying to play catch up and bring your magic back which IMO, has left you for good.

  3. Steve

So the main “expansion” being floated is replacing an existing attraction at a park with tens of acres of designated expansion space sitting unused, surrounded by a forest that Disney owns.

    They don’t learn, do they.

    1. Davidc

They were also talking about a major expansion in the magic kingdom. Magic kingdom currently has 25 rides. All the other parts have 8 or 9. You would think the logical course would be to add more ride attractions and areas to the other Parks rather than try to cram even more People into the most complicated park to get into. Whatever they are planning they need to Move fairly quickly. epic universe is pretty impressive looking.

I love seeing Disney running scared from Universal. If they don’t get it back together, they’re going to be knocked down a few rungs. Can’t wait fir Epic Universe

  5. AH

does not matter how much they expand if they are not going to staff it properly.

  6. Jerry

So let me get this straight… Disney thinks a Coco and Encanto expansion at Magic Kingdom is going to compete with Epic Universe?

    What a waste of money.

This is a similar response Disney made to Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. When that world came out, their reaction is merely a Fantasyland redux (including a family coaster, which I was able to test ride with a couple of coworkers during my internship back in 2014). Not to mention getting rights to Avatar (which was sort sighted until years later, even then it was out of relevancy at the time).

Disney needs to do better lest Epic Universe makes WDW look like a joke. Who knows, Epic Universe could be an Epic Achievement or an Epic Fail

As a Disney vacation club member since 2009, we are very disenchanted with Disney’s elimination of the magic bus, free fast pass and the dining plan. We usually go to Disney every October but this year we went to Universal. We were very happy with staying at a premier hotel and getting the unlimited use of the fastlane for most rides. Really enjoyed our Universal stay. Disney needs to take a step back and review some of eliminated perks. We are actually thinking of selling our points after all this time.

    1. Lynn

Disenchanted is the right word. We’ve had DVC since 2004 and go every year. We just got back from Disney a couple of weeks ago and if I hadn’t been before and I wasn’t such a big Disney fan, I would never go back. They need to stop adding to the DVC and hotel properties until they start adding capacity at the parks.

    2. Steve

You can pay Disney tens of thousands for a broken down experience if you want. That’s your prerogative.

  8. New is always nice, but Disney needs to start with little changes that people notice and clean up your parks. Bring back the magical express or a form there of. Do away with the silly 2oclock parkhopping. Do away with annual passes if you must, but if you don’t, get rid of the unfair park reservation crap. Pay your people better and stop gouging the public. You can and have done better. Be better again.

    1. Marie

No reason to do away with resident annual passes. Those of us who had them, spent a lot of money at Disney throughout the year….not just once a year or once in a lifetime.

However, do they need non resident annual passes? I doubt it. Get rid of those. And kids under 3 are free. Why? Lots of 2 year olds were having a blast at Disney. They’re not oblivious to their surroundings like a younger baby is. That’s a lot of revenue lost. How about changing it to under 2 instead?

      1. Zara

Why should Annual passes for non residents be scrapped? Just to suit you? Being a resident doesn’t make you more of a Disney lover than a person like me who comes once every couple of years from the UK….selfish

        1. Steve

Resident annual passes set a baseline for attendance without substantially impacting it at other times. Residents will typically avoid crowded times as they can come at other times. Non-resident annual passes simply increase crowding and lower ticket revenue. No sense in offering them. You might not like it, but it makes business sense.

      2. Michele

Non-resident annual passes are definitely needed by the Vacation Club members, and are important for family who frequently visit Florida residents. Somehow, Universal is able to manage resident & non-resident passes without resorting to ridiculous reservation requirements. Disney shoukd follow suit.

      3. Michael Faussett

If they put anything new at Disney World is a flat ride from a company called Huss Break Dance #5 this going to be there newest model that is coming out but not sure when no date yet. I love these type of rides.

      4. TruthSeeker

        Is your last name Chapek?

      5. Chris Kinney

My friend and I live in Evansville, IN, and go about 5 times a year. DONT cancel non-resident annual passes!

    2. John L Bowman

250,000 OF US DVC MEMBERS DESERVE TO GET ANNUAL PASSES. IT’S AS BIG A GROUP AS LOCALS AND CAST MEMBERS.

  9. Marie

Hey Bob….before you expand, take Disney back to the way it was pre PLANdemic.

Right now, the magic is gone, the park experience sucks (except for the safari) and the pocketbook is empty due to the horribly jacked up prices and the nickel and the diming of people.

    1. SP

Amen! Rewind to at least 2017.

  10. Walt

hahaha If Disney thinks this will lure me back to their parks think again. Their forays into political nonsense, lax standards for cast and the final straw – destruction of Splash is just the beginning. After leading tours groups, working for the mouse – I’m still out. Clean house, stop giving in to marginal wack jobs and stop with your RIDICULOUS price increases and then we’ll talk. In other words get back to Walt’s standards.

    1. Steve

Disney will end up being bankrupt and taken private, I think. The SJW investment firms wasting other people’s IRA money are headed for hard times in the coming Biden Depression.

  11. Ross

As long as DVC keeps selling, Disney will have to keep building resorts and/or resort expansions. Each DVC membership sold is another family here for another week, essentially monopolized at WDW. As everyone knows, the parks have been way over crowded for years, which is why they came up with fast pass in the first place. Unless they shut down new DVC sales (which they won’t), WDW will continue to become more and more crowded. They can’t build new parks fast enough at this point to get ahead of the curve. I’d love to see them prove me wrong. They won’t though…why make things awesome for the guests if the guests will pay anyway?

  12. Davidc

You added nothing that wasn’t already known. Disney needs to add and add fast. They also need to find a way to keep their existing Attractions open and operating. One of the biggest problems with genie plus Is the simple fact Disney Does not have Enough attractions. In many cases They have as little as 5 to 6 rides operating in a park. With large crowds. This results in large lines. Disney was slow to bring back the crowd Diverters. We are over 2 years out from covid reopening and they just reopened Fantasia! It took a year and a 1/2 to reopen Indiana don’t. They have been 5 years opening Tron while they railroad closed for over 2 years! For the rates they charge and the Added costs they won’t, they’re quality And quantity of rides is severely lacking. Disney needs to step it up. Universal is coming after them. And epic universe looks pretty impressive. With their pricing and decrease quality, comma Disney will look less and less like the go to place in Florida If they don’t Change course quickly

    1. Pamela

I went on December 4 to Disney world and i enjoy universal a lot more.

    2. MaryDVC

      Well said.

  13. JC

I’ve owned DVC since 2012 and am very disappointed with all the perks that have gone away. I agree with every one above. Our last trip we just enjoyed the resort and didn’t bother spending the money on the parks. Disney needs a completely new park and stop building resorts or adding onto them.

    1. C

Recently spent thousands of dollars to take my grandson to disneyland a complete utter disappointing waste of money dirty unhappy staff never saw Mickey and had a miserable time …will never go back

I hope that they don´t demolish Dinoland USA. Maybe they can make it bigger and get rid of Primevil Spin. The mini roller coster. Not too many people like it anyway. Dinosaur is one of my favorite rides in WDW: Please tell me that they´re not demolishing it for Zootopia or Encanto or Coco. Please!!

  15. Heather Weinstock

Since Disney owns Studio Ghibli (Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, ect.), why can’t there be a Studio Ghibli land at Disney World? That’s one park I would definitely visit.

  16. Lisa

Update Disneyland and Universal Studios. Get rid of Animal Kingdom.

    1. Karen

Animal Kingdom is the best. Bring back the Magic to all of the Disney Parks!

  17. Anon

Why open a new park when each park feels incomplete. There are barely any attractions in each park for them to charge 200 dollars a person.

    1. Steve

They really should be building up the 3 other parks and building at least one new park. Instead, they replace rides and lands with ones no one asked for.

  18. Cary

Yah doing universal passes next year
Disney reservations sucks life out of me. Not doing it

Something is going on at Dinoland. I saw it myself. It would be a shame if it is a retheme. That land was never allowed to reach its full potential and its ride is one of the few that seems to have no technical issues.

  21. Me

I thought Coco was meant to be replacing The Three Caballeros in Mexico because it’s so old now or was that just a rumour?

Dinoland USA makes sense to become Zootopia as it’s animal related.

Can’t wait for a villain kingdom though!
