It’s a real issue and people are rudely cutting. They mention something about meeting a party up ahead but those people don’t exist. In my book, if you get out of line, you have lost your place.
If I’m waiting in line with my friend and my child and the child has to use the restroom NOW, don’t you think it’s fair to allow them back in line where the friend is? This is real life. Someone who’s a complete stranger can do the same and save your place. Maybe I’m too understanding to be at Disney Parks anymore. A lot of very rude people who have forgotten how to treat others.
Park rules are no holding places I line. I do believe that there should be an exception for small children who need to pee, but I don’t think there is that exception in the park rules. Everyone else must enter the line together and must remain in line the entire time or you lose your place. Leaving and coming back after somebody held your place is line jumping and grounds for removal from the park. Read the rules. They aren’t new.
Well then, maybe just let people pee right there..in the line. You can walk thru it. Unbelievable.. not letting someone take their kid to the bathroom while waiting in line. It’s a park for KIDS. I swear, no one has grown up since the 90s brats and trophy for all crap. you rude immature adults need to grow up and get some understanding and compassion already.
I’m a childfree adult and agree with you. If a kid has to pee, they have to pee. Better take them seriously or you’ll be standing in their urine when they move up two feet. The crowd of adults however can screw right off with meeting up with everyone else.
You are a jerk and the very epitome of all the idiots around today. You cannot plan for a child not to pee in a line with up to 60 mins wait. You see worse than a jerk..you are ignorant and stupid.
Well said!! Bravo! Immature whining babies! No compassion and a crowd full of bullies!! Speak out lessons to these spoiled brats who never received spanking or discipline. They should be ashamed of them selves
Well said!! Bravo! Immature whining babies! No compassion and a crowd full of bullies!! Speak out lessons to these spoiled brats who never received spanking or discipline. They should be ashamed of them selves
Parents have always been allowed to take their kids to the bathroom and come back to the line. That isn’t line jumping. Line jumping is when one person is holding the line and is almost to the front and a group of people join. Not a person standing in the line already, leaving for 5-10 minutes and then coming back to wait in the rest of the line. This is the disgusting cancel culture that tik tok breeds.
Exactly this! To think there are even comments on here starting that “pArK RuLeS sTaTe tHeRe Is No LeAvINg LiNeS.” Entitled brats, who need to be euthanized. I’m looking flats to the day, when I personally eliminate them. It’s coming, mark my words.
Agree!! If you leave the line, you start over again. For small children, I know it’s tough. When our kids were small, we went to the bathroom before getting in a long line. It was tough sometimes, and we had to leave the line. It never occurred to me to get back in line.
The chanting… that’s really ugly. Society needs to find their manners again!!
Seriously! Life happens unfortunately those lines are long. And when nature calls u need to go and honestly if you have already been waiting awhile people should understand your gonna be quivkly as u can . Uhave waited this long you know ur gonna return and line probably hasnt moved much.. so a little kindness goes a long way. Somedsy it could be you
I worked for the parks for 9 years (from 2013 to early this year), part of that time as a frontline attractions cast member, another part of that time was literally writing the rules. There is no rule that states or implies that a parent cannot take their child out of line to use the restroom, and then rejoin their party in line. Generally speaking Disney is not in the business of encouraging parents to allow their children to relieve themselves in the queue, and people like you who spread these kinds of lies are the reason why I had to call custodial so many times for kids urinating in planters.
Parent and child isn’t a problem to me. Where you lose me is the group of ten wanting to reunite with their 3 friends “up front” . Houston, we have problem.
As to “foreign tourists and undesirable demographics.” I’ve no idea where the poster is coming from on “demographics”. As to “foreign tourists” the idea of lines and queues is completely alien to some cultures. Italy comes to mind. I’ve had my share of grief with line cutting tourists trying to fingale their way up front. Some years ago at Kilimanjaro Safaris, a mother and teenage son from Southeast Asia were pulling the slide around on the corner routine. Slipping past guests at the turns. My wife and I then started holding hands while keeping the other on the rail. Mom soon became apoplectic and I’m sure was cursing us. Oh well. And I’ve seen similar practices by other tourists. Remember the Brazilian tour groups from some years ago. Hordes of chanting, rude teens.
So I can see where he’s coming from there
Megan, it’s only courteous and civil to work with parent’s/grandparents with small children. I’m a grandparent and a Vietnam veteran with disabilities, I still make concessions out of respect and common decency for everyone’s peace. Be I do agree with line jumpers and other’s be dealt with by disney but I guess they don’t make enough profit to provide sanity and safety a concern once they have your money? Good Luck.
I’m with you RoRoy. As a fellow grandparent, we have to be realistic about the needs of small children Line jumping has always been a problem, but has recently reached new heights. I was in Disney a few months ago and it isn’t the same place. If things continue as they are, line jumping will be the least of their problems.
Disney should add a restroom partway thru the queue. And a drinking fountain. We had a cast member take one of our little ones out to the bathroom and return them to us.
Yes!! I agree with you!! However, that will probably never happen! So why do you have to hand your child over to a stranger so they can pee??
A mom and 2 small children (or similar combination) is COMPLETELY different than 4-5 adolescents “meeting their friends”. It’s common sense people!!! Basic common sense 101!
That’s a pretty reasonable argument John. I think the mom and child should have been let back into the line. There are no doubt people that abuse people’s kindness to cut lines, but by being petty to others who don’t, we won’t get anywhere.
I do think your children come first – however, I also believe that if there is someone in your party still in line, they should wait for you to come back and let people move ahead, so there is not a hold-up. Then when the mother and child return, they can get right back into the same place in line they were.
We had 3 young kids with us this time, two who rode rides. This is basically what we did if we had a bathroom emergency. If it was taking too long I would let people go until I could them coming back. I also asked every couple hours if they needed to go. Only got stuck in an insanely long wait once where my 5 yo had to pee bad. I definitely understand unexpected long waits happen and it’s hard with kids. We got stuck in the tunnel during the line to get on Splash mountain for over 45 min and didn’t end up riding because people were stuck in a log at top
Just because they live in a trailer park don’t make them “undesirables or ghetto”. The majority of people who attend Disney Lane are low income and uses credit cards to finance their adventure. Those are the people who do the chatting. I sure there are people who line jump, but there is no need to become unruly towards the child or the mother.
I’ve saved a stranger’s place in line for the same reason in the Frozen line at EPCOT. A kindness doesn’t increase the wait time for the people behind. Just watch to see them come back and wave so everyone knows they aren’t cutting the line but rejoining their location. Costs nothing to treat people decently.
Thank you for being a decent human. I’m about to have a newborn and was thinking about taking him to the parks when he’s old enough (2-3) solo but these comments have me scared. No one has empathy for kids anymore.
You’re absolutely right. It costs is nothing but a simple human kindness. When did being nasty and cruel become the norm? It doesn’t cost you anything to be kind to someone. I wish ppl would practice the Golden Rule
And where is your respect for the others? What entitles you to that spot in line where if any adult leaves they have to join the end of the line. No your kid does not get priority over anyone else. Practice what you preach, breeders are so damn entitled
Absolutely not. Use the restroom between rides, before you get in line. If you get out of the line, go to the back of the line. We use the restroom very frequently between attraction queues. Even if you don’t think you need to go, just do it. Then you won’t feel like you need to cut the line because you were irresponsible. Keep your party together at all times in line
That happened to myself with my daughter we were in line for the Seven Dwarfs mine train ride at WDW and we had been standing in line for a while and my 7 year old looked up at me and said I’m sorry daddy but I have to go to the bathroom with hesitation I jumped out of line and took her to the rest room, I pasted 3 Disney Cast Members and they asked if everything was ok and I told them my daughter had to use the restroom could you point me to the nearest one and they did I came back and asked if I could get back in line and before they could answer a bunch of these Disney adults started yelling hell no go to the back. Luckily as I was talking to the Disney Cast Members the ride broke down, of coarse I said karma is a b*tch. But the people that are now going to Disney are extremely rude and inconsiderate. But that’s the kind of people Disney is attracted now a day
I agree. When your child needs to use the restroom, you have no choice but to leave. People have no compassion anymore, especially with young children. That poor mother and child. To have endured that kind of bullying at a place that should have been family friendly. I really hope Disney helped them rather then making that horrible experience even worse.
I am planning a trip to Disneyland in a couple of weeks, with my grandkids. And I can hardly believe how hateful people have become, and to do that to a child is inexcusable. I don’t know what is wrong with people. If anything like that happens, you can bet I won’t be reduced to tears!
All that Disney cares about is PROFITS! My daughter and two year old grandson were there three days ago and they were subject to the same thing, line jumpers and just rude nasty people? I hope the families come together and demand more for our money than the crap that’s been going on since the reopening, we have the power, PLEASE pull together for all of our sake but in particular the kid’s. I would love to start a group of genuinely concerned help me out with this?👍😎💪❤️🙏🇺🇲
TOTALLY CORRECT!! The experience is SO DIFFERENT than it was 25 years ago! I took my grandsons (age 14) they didn’t want to go back the next day!!! We went to the beach!
Do you have kids? Sometimes when you stand in line for 1-2 hours they have to go to the bathroom, I had to leave my husband and son in the Racers line the last time we were there in 2017 to take my then 4 year old daughter to the bathroom. Should my 4 year old have had to miss the ride because she was too young to predict her bladder wouldn’t hold for almost 2 hours? This is unreasonable to expect and this should be a family oriented park, not an adult play place! I let the people behind us know she had to potty and that we would be back-no problem!
Is it fair, no absolutely not. Back of the line, make sure your bladder is empty before you get in line your friend can very much meet you at the back of the line
I hear ya. I work in a place with a cafeteria. They rope it off and let ppl in when they are ready. This large and in charge woman just says Oh hell nah and burst through a dozen people and a barrier. You can guess her ethnicity pretty easily. And all of the violence I see is fr them. Pathetic.
Yes absolutely! It’s disgusting who the target demographic is. I can’t believe my childhood heaven has become an adult ces pool for groomers, aimed at children. It makes me want to pick up arms! Then, on the other hand, we have these idiots who have no common decency, to even allow a CHILD to pee and have the Disney experience that, for many, is a once in a lifetime opportunity! It is convoluted, and disgusting, on all ends.
Everyone wants to “pick up arms” to deal with an issue = chaos and bloodshed. Grow up and find another way. Too much of the this nonsense at the moment
We’ve had passes for over 20 years and the line jumping has definitely gotten worse since the parks reopened. Taking your kid for a bathroom break could be legit but if you’ve dealt with groups of 5-7 people saying “excuse me” to catch up with their 2 friends at the front, I can see the frustration. I had a couple the other day on their cell phone telling their friends where they were in line and had just come up to the front…I was like, no they can’t?? And within a few minutes here comes 6 guys passing us to go up with their friends. Maybe Disneyland can regulate the legit people from the rude line cutters. If a parent needs to get out of line, maybe see a CM at the exit for some sort if “pass” they can use to come back in line. Just an idea
I hate false line jumpers, but to shout at a woman and her child shows just how unbelievable people can be. If someone asked me to save their spot I would. Unless they come back with a pack.
I agree and when that sensible approach is respected, it works. Problem is now that so many are just being rude and using any excuse to cut. Staff and security need to be proactive and people would get the message
And anyone has the right to believe that this did not actually happen either. I do not. Maybe it happened, but was fabricated. Maybe it did not at all. Anyone can post anything on the internet and deem it true, and I have read a few “true stories” on Reedit in which people would claim actually happened but turned out to be false.
I question though why the person who supposedly saw this posted this on the internet but not the person who it happened to; if it was dark and the park was near closing and other guests who were mostly adults left (not many families) then why would they be that mean towards a mother and her kid just for going a ride such as this (mostly a kids ride); why would the cast members escort the mother and kid but say nothing to the people who harassed, threatened, and bullied a mother and her kid? Additionally, the boy was nearly twelve years old, he could not go himself? I am sorry, but several things here do seem questionable.
Rude and angry people (of course, with the changes to “Disney values” and costs, most of the guest are angry. No one likes to feel like they are being taken advantage of.
It’s horrible and disgusting! No regard for the small child. People have turned into mobs and bullys. They clearly had people there stating they were there in line. It was clear she was by herself with the child, what was she supposed to do. A civil society would have let her back. Now they traumatized a child and for what videos and tic tok posts.
I completely agree! If the ones complaining had to use the restroom you can bet they’d want their place in line back. I don’t agree in line jumping. What happened to treat others as you expect to be treated?
The 3percenters
Have taken over the dparks will never go again they breed this stuff overcrowding and stuffing you in alone that hardly moves while letting disabled and single river families on
They should have just flipped them off and went and got there money back
I was there a couple of weeks ago and queue for that ride was 2 hours long. yes we saw Mums with a child go out the line, clearly for the toilet, some went out the line for bottles of water: it was very hot standing in the sun. They came back, no F’s given by anyone else. There were no queue jumpers at all. It’s pretty clear when someone leaves the line to come back, it’s for a valid reason. Some families sat in the shade and caught up with the rest of their family as and when. No point in them all suffering the heat and exhaustion of standing for long periods….For people to start chanting to a mother and child like that, its behaviour of thugs. Those should be sent out of the line for anti-social behaviour, not the poor mum and child who just left for the loo.
I disagree,if I was asked to save the place of someone because a CHILD had to go pee,I would absolutely understand. When is it alright (chanting crowd) to make a child feel bad for having to pee or for any reason? It’s not ever okay. This mom was also crying because of feeling the hurt of her child.Shame be on anyone that scares a child or embarrasses a child.
So if you have a bladder problem then you can’t go on Radiator Springs? I totally agree that line jumpers are doing something that’s very wrong, and it is rightly infuriating to those who are being harmed by it, but it would be nice if they could work out some way of letting people return to the line if they legitimately have to use the bathroom.
Well I heard that they flag down a cast member to hold the place for them. Good idea but when you can’t find anyone ether let someone whizz themselves or risk this.
We had to wait in a line for over an hour and a half, lots of mom’s with kids had to head back to use the restrooms. I don’t begrudge them goING and coming back.
Kindness always wins.
There should be a Disney person at long lines to give a person like this mom taking her kid to pee, something to prove they can return to the same place when they return. Not impossible.
We’re all becoming hateful. At the least impatient, unloving and unwilling to share fun.
I’m 75 and have lived in many places & countries and, in mho, the world is fast becoming dangerous, uneducated, sad and lacking both love & fear of God.
Slow down while you can. Once you lose your strength and your health, neither your neighbor, nor your country. will help you.
We’ve allowed the very smallest Golden rules to be ripped from society. There doesn’t remain much left to rely or trust in.
Welcome to today’s society…a whole lot of bullies everywhere. It’s a sad reality that unfortunately people lack compassion, understanding, empathy, sympathy, consideration, common courtesy, respect, etc..in today’s society. And it’s only getting worse.
Very unfortunate people have no compassion for other human beings who had nature call, its to be expected with such long lines to wait in, perhaps a pass to hand to employee at exit who watches for line jumpers so when return to line they notify employee who hands them their bathroom pass back and with a notification to people in line a fellow park visitor or 3 park visitors or how many used restroom, will be returning to their place in line please stand to the ? Right for them to resume their spot with out problems or a way where all can understand and God willing except without problems so all can enjoy their visit. Just few ideas, trouble shooting ideas ought to be welcomed.
It is not as if they were not in line in the first place. I can understand having to go back to the line, but jeez this was a mother and her child, we do not even know how old, and the child just had to use the restroom, maybe they went before and the child had to go again. These adults were there with their own children and were setting this type of example, disgusting. Hope their day was ruined as well.
If they calmly told the mother what she did, that would have been fine, or if they got a staff member, but to throw chants and yell not just at the mother but at her child (maybe it was more at her, I don’t know, I would like to think that it was more at her than her kid at least) is just unacceptable. I hope they are thinking back on this incident and feeling terrible. What is done is done, and it is not as if they will see those people again, but the mother and child do deserve a public apology, anyone probably would.
Then you have no business being in line to begin with. There are times when a person is justified in stepping out of line with the expectation to not lose their place. Taking a child to use the bathroom is definitely one of those times!!!
I disagree. If there is a legit reason to have to leave the line for a bit, someone spells Save the Spot for them. You can tell the people In front of you that you are leaving the line, and if they’re nice they will acknowledge you later.
And that’s what’s wrong with people. So quick and content to judge. You didn’t even read the article.
“They mention something about meeting a party… ”
This has nothing to do with that. They were saying that, yes, it IS a problem when people use that excuse, but that was not the case here. A woman took her (obviously) young kid to the bathroom. End of story.
If you’re that miserable of a person with your own life that youre THAT upset about 2 people getting BACK in line, under those circumstances, then why leave your GD house? Sit on your phone and social media and get mad at everyone from there. True losers are any adult who joins in chanting at a theme park lmao. Wth is wrong with people. Hate your own crappy life and stunted intellect and stop making sure everyone else knows how mad you are about it.
Hilarious how many “adults” are on here whining about the inconvenience a kid peeing then coming back into line is causing them. At Disney…lmao. dolts.
And how exactly have you been inconvenienced? They were IN line, left for the BR then came back. Your wait didn’t go from 2 hours to 5 minutes when they left then 4 hours when they came back! Nothing changed! It’s people wanting to be angry about ev-er-y-thing. Fake outrage I believe it’s called.
“Just let me be mad and kick and scream and throw a tantrum because I’m special. Just ask my mom!”
And I believe those are called “millennials”
Sorry world.
Extreme doubt. If the story is true, don’t you think someone in the line would remember them? If i am waiting more than minutes, I definitely will recall the people immediately in front of and behind me. The fact apparently no one did makes this an easy case to solve.
There is always an excuse with these line cutting scumbags. Start banning them for life.
Someone did see them. They tried to tell people they were there and just had to go to the bathroom but no one listened. It says that right in the article
You’re saying that solving the problem is to rely on the person in front of and behind the person returning is enough? So much wrong with that answer that you ignore. I repeat, there needs to be a permanent way to handle this and avoid the immature anger from happening.
I am actually with Steve here. I understand there have been actual cases where guests treat other guests disrespectfully, but come on, just how many guests behind the woman and her child would even remember them being in line. “Tons of guests” makes it rather unbelievable for me, guests who did not even see them before just yelling just because others would be yelling, sorry don’t buy it, and just because this guest described it like this does not make it necessarily true could be just another story to put online just for the sake of things.
What I am having real trouble believing is that the group would yell at both the mother and her child. The frustration with the mother I could understand, but the child I would imagine would have been very young and it does not even sound like the fault of the child. It would be very sad and troubling if this incident did in fact happen, but just because someone said an incident happened online does not make it necessarily automatically true, and honestly even before I read Steve’s comment I questioned this incident myself.
I also would want to add. This entire article is just based on a short comment someone posted on Reedit. People say things happen all the time on Reedit, does not make it true. If this actually happened, I am sorry, but I am having much doubt myself. Come on, TONS of adults who have children themselves at a place like Disneyland yelling at a mother and her little child “kick them out”, just for going back in line after having to use the restroom, how many behind the woman and her child and the guests directly behind her would even remember her or even saw where she was in the first place.
This sounds a bit handful to even believe, and just because the person said that others saw this does not make it true either, could be fabricating, could be not remembering it as it actually was, could be just getting a kick from others, no one ever knows.
Well, the person who posted this on Reedit was not the woman who cut in line with her son. It was another woman. I spoke to her about what happened. I clarified it in detail in one of my replies here. However, anyone can post anything. Regardless whether or not the person who posted it is the line cutter, it could be just a sob story or something done for a friend just for the sake of getting free Disney passes and whatnot, or just something to get a kick in others.
I am not trying to call out who is lying and who is not. I do not know the situation, I was not there, but I am sorry. I did believe it at first, but as I thought more about it throughout the day. I am still having much doubt. The person who replied to me said that the child is around twelve years, so I am wondering if the child is that old, why didn’t the child just go himself, unless he is autistic or something, but again why wouldn’t the woman have asked someone to hold her place.
The poster also said I was right, no it was not the entire line, but enough to hear a commotion. I am sorry though, twelve or not, I cannot imagine full grown adults going at a helpless kid like that in a place such as a Disney theme park over something so trivial like this, and it is not as if they still did not have to wait. Additionally, they would probably have had tremendous guilt after for yelling at a kid like that, the mother sure I can understand, but a kid, really.
I’m sickbof the bathroom excuse its cutting use it before you get in line if you get out of line you are out of line go to the end.Bsthroom is no excuse.Sick of the excuse.
Must be nice not not have any medical condition or a teeny tiny bladder that can’t hold pee for more than 15 minutes. Grown adults picking on small children. Do you see yourself for the villain in some poor kids trauma at the supposedly happiest place on earth?
That’s what I don’t get. Everyone keeps saying “cut in line” Yeah, no one likes that. I’ve gotten into it before over that to the point security was involved.
They left and came back. There is virtually no change in ANYTHING as far as time. It was 2 hours before they left, it was 2 hours after they left, its 2 hours when they came back. How have you been put out? It’s not a group of teenagers being a-holes.
You’re adults wanting to do this new thing called “I’m a grown, entitled baby and just the idea of me being slighted will not be tolerated! Especially by an actual child at Disney World! Harumph and good day!” or something like that. Miserable ass people.
Amen Brent Choi! You people being intolerant of kids are idiots. I feel sorry for the world my kids are now part of. To be fair, I’ve spent a lot of time at DL, and never seen jerks like those representing here, so mostly this is keyboard warrior stuff. Always be patient with those with needs. Kids, disabilities, whatever.
So with a cancer kid who has to pee almost every 20 minutes I should lose my place in line every time a line exceeds 15 minutes? Some of y’all are cruel and miss the point that Disneyland was made for enjoyment, not tormenting a parent with a small child. Radiator has 90 minute wait times almost daily if not more, the age that ride is marketed to is 4/5 most of them can’t hold it that long once they have to go. Absolutely disgusting behavior and some of these comments… y’all have gotten so far from kindness it’s heartbreaking.
If the company doesn’t think it warrants special treatment, that does not entitle you to start breaking the rules. It definitely doesn’t entitle every random person to start breaking the rules whether or not they actually have any reason to.
It’s very very sad. People do have legitimate reasons for assistance or grace at times. Medical, age, physical reasons. It’s a shame people are so hateful
Maybe people would be more understanding if there weren’t so many line cutters with no excuse at all. It is impossible to visit a theme park these days without seeing at least one blatant line cut per day.
It’s people like that can only see black and white. They’re incapable of using logic and intellect to make out the gray areas. If it’s not *super simple* they can’t figure it out to make a fair judgment call.
That Radiator Springs line is brutal. I went with my kids three weeks after opening and it was a three hour wait with very little shade in the summer. No vendors at that time. Saw a few families just give up and leave after waiting an hour or two. I had watermelon in my backpack and thirst and hot people were just staring at it as we ate it in line. Kinda wondered if someone was gonna king me for the watermelon, lol.
A legit bathroom break is one thing, but the majority of line cutters are just BS’ers trying to work their angle. On the other hand, CM’s should be able to assist guests with a marker of sorts to allow the guest to return to their spot after a bathroom break, without much fanfare.
Shame on those who were chanting! THOSE are the people that should have been thrown out. Happiest place on Earth my ass. SMH If you’re going to act like that, especially to a small child, you don’t deserve to be there. I understand line cutters are the worst, but to make them start crying and taunt them until they leave is disgusting! I hope that mom gets a lifetime pass!
Why do people always jump to “compensation”? Lifetime pass? Ridiculous!
I agree that taking a child to the bathroom warrants getting back in line. As long as they didn’t stop to buy refreshments.
I am tired of line jumpers. It happens everytime that we wait in long lines like Rise . It is usually the rides that have tunnels. The solution is to have cast members more available to help. You can wait in that RoR line for hours and not see a cast member. There are guaranteed 3 -4 groups of line jjumpers . Last time there was a dad and a little boy. He would wait in line for 5 minutes then ,bam..he was moving up. We watched his progress in a switchback. He absolutely entered the line behind us with blue milk.
He was not a small child. The Reedit poster actually told me that the child was actually around twelve years old, which is weird considering that age would be fine to go to the restroom yourself, he could have gone she would still have been there no problem, but while I do question things regarding this incident.
I think if this is entirely true, and the other guests did traumatize the mother and her son, who I am hoping is not seriously scarred by this, they should have been at least called out on by the staff. Line cutting is not alright, but neither is harassing and threatening a parent and child. That is the part that baffles me, how in the world was the staff alright with that part of it? Hopefully the boy will revisit not having to look back on this, but I have a feeling there is so much more to this than being said.
A small child having to pee is the only acceptable loophole to the “your entire party must enter the line together and stay in line together” rule. I definitely understand the other guests being upset however. Too many people have been line-cutting in every park recently. Not just at Disney.
Well, I found out by the Reedit poster that the child was actually around twelve, so he could have easily gone by himself and she could have held his place in line. I can understand the frustration with the other guests, line cutting is line cutting period, but to traumatize a mother and her son like that to the point of making them cry clearly is out of line, ‘let us scar this boy’, how about no. Hopefully the boy and his mother will have a better visit and not have to remember this night. I am shocked though why the staff did not call them on that, but I do not entirely buy this story. Some things just do not add up.
If it’s truly a parent that inevitably has to take their kid to the bathroom, then who cares? You have to be incredibly miserable as a person to not understand that sometimes kids have to go. An adult can hold it for 20min, kids usually can’t. I think a good solve to the problem would be Disney cast members being able to be notified, let you leave line, and let you back where you were. Regardless, crowd chanting is nothing more than entitled bullies upset someone might be getting something they aren’t. If there’s a problem, tell a cast member and let them deal with it, you aren’t the line police and you 100% guaranteed do not have all the facts.
My wife used to work at Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom. It clearly states in park rules, there is no holding spots in line or line cutting. The fact of the matter is you get out of line you lose your spot, rules are rules.
Is there any rule in which you cannot threaten, harass, and intimidate a parent and his or her child? I am sure there is, anywhere. Don’t you find it a bit suspicious that the other guests were not publicly called for their actions? It is the child part I find most troubling, they probably scarred that poor kid. They probably went home with grins on their faces feeling proud of what they did, though honestly as I said numerous times here, I am not necessarily buying into this entire story. Just because someone posted on Reedit does not make it automatically true.
And you’ve never gone 1mph over the speed limit? Those are theme park rules you are so vehemently defending. The speed limit is part of traffic LAWS. Yet cops don’t pull over anyone going 1 over. Or even 5-7mph over. Why?
Because you’re miserable and want to be mad at everyone constantly for your own crap life lol. “My wife worked at Disney and the rules say” get out of here with that nonsense.
You’re really THAT upset over this specific circumstance? Of course you’re not. Would you have this same argument in favor of traffic laws if your wife got ticketed for going 51 in a 50? No. You’d lose your mind over how ridiculous, no, ludicrous, the whole thing is. No one was put out. No one waited 30 seconds longer. I’m all about rules but I’m more about being able to distinguish right/ wrong without someone telling me then having to follow it to a T because I’m incapable of thinking for myself and problem solving.
Take a critical thinking class, its as close to a common sense class as is out there.
I don’t have children of my own. Wouldn’t it be a bit easier to ask the child or children if they need a bathroom break before going to stand on a line? If it were me the Parent asked, I’d have no problem with it. But, I would tell them to ask the people behind me if it was alright. Otherwise I’d be getting yelled at for making the decision for everyone else on the line.
Take your child to the bathroom alot while at the parks, could the mom have told a CM she had to step out of line for the bathroom. I feel bad for the mom and the child. I get rules are rules.
Another reason why I prefer WDW. EPCOT with the World Showcase doesn’t really appeal to the little ones. I adore that park! I admit that I really enjoy the huge smiles on the little ones faces when they see the parades and especially the fireworks!
NO one here is saying the kid shouldn’t have left to go to the bathroom; they’re saying the two of them shouldn’t have gotten back to the same place in line after leaving.
If you leave a line, you start back at the end. I like to think we ALL learned this back in grade school.
Shame is on the mom for trying to cut back in line, NOT on the kid for having to pee. That mom should’ve thought of the risk of this happening. I have a 6 yo and have brought her to Disneyland. If we leave a line for ANY reason, we start back at the end; so, I practice what I preach.
FWIW, that ride isn’t even worth line.
Then they would get half way through the line again and the child may need to go again. They are small children with small bladders. Was the 30 seconds they would take to get on going to really hurt over them potentially starting over with a 60 minute or more wait?
Actually it’s yours that is irrelevant Steve. I see a kid and mom or dad move forward in line to meet their family all the time, and people willingly move to allow them to meet up their family all the time. The de facto rule (practice) is different than the intolerance you are spouting.
Nobody’s gonna change Steve’s mind. Glad so many of you are kind though. Steve would be the selfish guy who gets killed in a zombie apocalypse because nobody wants to help someone who has no sympathy or desire to help others. (I know that’s not a real thing, you get the picture) I bet he was never allowed to show emotions as a child and probably never took care of a young child in his life. So, yeah, thank to everyone who is being human, Steve’s to inflexible to change and I hope the parks return to their family friendliness in time. Until then, I won’t subject myself or my children to such vulgaris as adults shaming children for things that no one can control. Your allowed to be an awful person, and chant that crap at young kids if you want to, but don’t think it won’t come back and bite you in the butt on a day when you very much need a little compassion and grace. I don’t wish that on you though, it’s just usually life lessons work like that.
I am not one to take sides, but Steve does have a point. The person did post this on Reedit and people have posted ludicrous things on it, I did read “true events” that people posted on Reedit, Quora, etc. that actually turned out not to be true. People would post anything. I did believe this at first, I will be honest, but I am having doubts.
I cannot believe that tons of full grown adults would actually do this to a kid (the person who posted this I replied to said that the kid was actually around twelve years), it was not the whole line but enough to hear a commotion. The mother sure I understand but come on yelling at a twelve year old kid at a place like a Disney theme park is beyond believable. You would think the adults would at least feel shameful, at least, for having yelled at the kid (if they actually did to both, the person did not say who was the one yelled at). You would have to have so little class enough just to yell at a helpless kid.
It is possible the mother did this to obtain free Disney passes or just not to fall behind because it was a very big line. Maybe not all of this is false, but it is quite possible at least some parts were fabricated just for the sake of things. I am not calling anyone a liar here and again I am not talking sides, stranger things have happened, I am just saying what I personally believe. I am just surprised though not more was published by anyone, you would figure this would be more of a deal, and I think if tons of adults decided to harass and threaten a child and adult like that, the workers would have said at least something to them. Not buying it.
Dave, I entirely agree. It is not because the son had to use the toilet, but because the line cutting. I did decide to ask the Reedit commenter though who posted this incident about this, and she said that the park was near closing, it was dark, the other guests who were left were mostly just adults on a Friday night not families with kids. I am wondering why would tons of adults decide to traumatize a mother and her nearly twelve year old to tears over something that is mostly a kids ride? I also wonder why the cast members pulled the mother and son aside, but not say anything to the other guests who decided to gang up on the mother and kid. I am sorry, but many things about this incident just do not add up to me.
So people are upset about being in the same place in line they were already in before the child had to pee but think screaming and making a child is ok? They should have been removed from the park not the child
As a Cast Member, it’s always going to be a difficult situation. Are there line jumpers… yes! Do we catch all of them… No. However, the fear for people loosing their place in line versus loosing control of their bladder is huge! I have witnessed more than a hundred times that children from 3-14 wet/poop themselves because of the fear of leaving a line or disappointing their parents. I would rather error on the side of caution and good intentions and let people leave and return to the line. When we do get these custodial concerns it can literally shut down an attraction for a lengthy amount of time in order to clean it. As a guest, let the people ahead and behind you know that you are leaving the line to use the restroom and plan on returning. Ask them if you can take a picture of their group/them to remember where you were in line. Then as you leave let a Cast Member know that you have a restroom emergency and need a restroom! Sometimes there are emergency restrooms not known to the public. As Cast Members, we are there to help manage any situation that comes up. It takes a community that cares about each other to create and foster a culture of kindness at the Happiest Place on Earth!
*I do not represent the Disneyland Resort in anyway in my opinion presented in this comment.*
Thank you, “Create Happiness”! You are exactly the kind of cast member I love to find at Disneyland. Your kindness, consideration of guest’s needs and common sense are what is more important than adhering to rules with no exceptions.
I never have a problem with someone leaving a long line and coming back. It’s not at all the same as line jumping where a group tries to join one or two people who have been in line or just tries to crowd ahead of others. It seems to me that is what the rule about staying in line is supposed to address, not the needs of a small child or someone with medical issues or older people, who also can’t always wait for 1 1/2 or 2 or 3 hours in between restroom stops.
If one or two are stepping out to run to the restroom, anyone should be able to understand that. If there were a party of 10 trying to catch up to a single person in line, then that would be a different story.
And really, would you rather them go in the line and shut the ride down for several hours?
You might want to add portable toilets along the way of the line. This way a person may not have to go all the way back to the beginning of the line to go to the restroom.
We went with a large group. We always tried to stay together. When getting in to line, many times some of our party would get cut off. I had a woman cuss me out for trying to grab my toddler from my husband because she wouldn’t let my husband through even though it was clear she had cut them off from the rest of our group. The ride operator grabbed the last person of our group out of line when we told them what happened when we got up front.
Last time I was there I saw one person go through the lighting lane legitimately and than rest of their party climbing through normal lane (further into line away from cast member) to meet up after cutting through people pretending to meet up with their party in normal lane.
Even though they were potty trained,I had my 5 yrolds wrar pull ups just in case because of the lines. They never needed them but better safe than sorry..
On a hot day in Disneyland when you’re trying to keep your children hydrated it’s hard to wait over an hour in A line without having them need to use the bathroom. Something tells me people wouldn’t be happy with a child peeing next to you in line either. Or maybe we’re supposed to put all children in diapers to make you happy. Grow up! Not everyone is trying to cut in line.
Going by people’s reactions it was more likely that they were doing what we saw dozens of times in Disneyland. Half the family would line up for a ride and the other half would run to the bathroom (or for snacks) and “catch up”. Only once in 4 days did I see someone leave a line to use the bathroom and then return. Everyone else were one way travellers.
yes-this!
if my group has been in line for more than 20 minutes – i would have taken note of somebody going past me to get out of line to go to the bathroom. if i don’t recognize you – i am thinking you really weren’t in front of me. and, if you really have the rest of your group “up front” at that point in time – you are line cutting – not “coming back” from the bathroom.
when a line gets lengthy – and disney knows which rides these are – a cm should be posted to monitor for line cutting. a simple fix to a growing problem. this cm would also be available to assist those having to take a child to the bathroom return to their previous position in the line. folks would figure out the rules and inability to be so rude and this bad behavior would stop.
come on disney !
you know the problem – work on fixing it!
I do not think line jumping should be allowed, especially for large groups, but I do think exceptions should be made for families with children that need a bathroom break. Perhaps Disney can come up with a way to allow for the bathroom breaks while preventing the real line jumpers from cutting in. And maybe, just maybe, people should stop being so rude to one another. Stop the “me first” attitude. The Happiest Place On Earth was meant for all to enjoy, not just a few or just you!
It’s not just at Disneyland. People all over are loosing their values and morals. Anyhow, with nuclear destruction just around the corner ..not even Disneyland will be able to save them
All that Disney cares about is PROFITS! I would love to start a group of genuinely concerned help me out with this?👍😎💪❤️🙏🇺🇲
I suggested getting numbers assigned or an app that beeps when it’s your turn. Like when you go to a restaurant and u have to wait for a table. They give you a buzzer. If they made an app where u go to the ride and scan ur phone. The app would ask how many riding and to be at the ride in a certain amount of time. It would be inexpensive. I know it would have to have some rules n all but maybe it could help with these issues. H
I understand because there are so many line jumpers it’s ridiculous. However, this child had to use the restroom so it was not line jumping. I hope she and her son were not kicked off the ride.
With the ride waits getting longer with the increased crowds and the addition of Genie/Genie+ adding to the extended waits, I think Disney should consider adding bathroom facilities along the queue for this very reason. You can see this at Animal Kingdom on Flight of Passage.
Disney needs to at least do something constructive with the money they’re charging. Add bathroom facilities in the lines. We all know that the money is not going to maintenance and upkeep of attractions.
Since this is an obvious issue maybe they should start passing out ticket numbers like when u go to a parking garage, or an app for your phone that will buzz when it’s your turn like in a restaurant when you’re table is ready.
as a mom of 3 and grandmother, when we took our boys and then our grandkids, we ALWAYS went to the restroom inbetween each ride we did…….didnt matter if they said they didnt have to go, we just said to try and it worked……….Never had a problem with them in line
I’m a mom and I worked in a nursery school. If a child can’t hold their pee for 3 hours then they are not fully potty trained and should be in a Pull Up for emergencies. I have bladder issues and wear a Poise pad when I go to disney. I don’t make excuses for a preventable problem. If we ever have to get out of line we go to the back and start over. S@%$ happens. And if it’s medical get DAS. Don’t line cut.
Disney should have call buttons along the line to summon an attendant for an emergency line hold, where you and the person behind you are given a temporary place card with a time limit.
It’s an easy fix have cast members hand out a pass to whomever needs to jump out of line. And they can return through the exit with pass and wait for their party to join them and ride together. Only 2 people per pass.
Life includes necessities and going to restroom is a part of life. People need to stop being so obnoxious. I had a similar situation except I let a group ahead of me first while waiting for my daughter. Luckily the attendant had seen what had transpired and backed me up.
Disney purposely decides and segrotares guests against each other now by charging extra fees for folks to pay to skip lines.
Envy and spite and shame and jealousy are feelings that Disney now instills and uses to encourage more folks to shell out more money so they can look down at all the poor folks who have to wait while they go to the front of the prepaid lines.
Magic is gone
Experience now guarantees that every guest will eaither hate and loath and envy the paid guests or they will shame and embarrass and look down on the poor regular second class guests.
All bad.
Remind me of the old Dr suess story of Star-belly-sneaches
We used lightning lane once and it was because of me. My right knee has no cartilage so waiting for the newer Star Wars ride was a no-go. Knee isn’t considered bad enough for handicap status so had to pay for access.
Yes line jumpers suck when it comes to adults who want to catch up. Especially when it is a bunch. But if you have kids especially young kids you know they cannot hold it. Sometimes they have to go especially when lines are longer than 30 minutes. Dont be a$$H@&# to a mother and child when they had to go. Do you feel special making them cry?
I see nothing wrong with a parent needing to take a child to the restroom and then coming back to their place in line. That is not the same thing as line jumping since they were already in line to begin with.
In my opinion social media has bred a whole culture of next level rudeness. People think they can act and say whatever they want online because they are not interacting face to face with someone. Then they go out in public and have forgotten how to act like a human with manners and respect for one another.
Liliiana that so wrong we should all know that there needs to be patient and respectful to one other especially in disenyland whT are grown ups showing there young ones I feel this should have never happened I send my apologies to the mom. And her child that they had go threw that awful situation this should be that place of fansty where kids and grown up dreams come true what is this coming to shame o. All the group that put mom and child thew a horrible situation 😣
Line jumping is a huge problem and should be dealt with accordingly, but I have to admit we were in the Toy Story area in a line for half an hour once and one of my grandsons insisted he needed to go pee. We told him he had to wait and he made it, but we were really worried about him.
That’s why after 50 years of going to Disney and having annual passes we probably will never return. We go to sea world now. Once Disney changed my daughter’s disability pass rules to unbearable ones the park became stressful for her anyway. Disney forces you to reserve your visit ahead of time and still they’re having severe overcrowding problems. That’s why you’re seeing an increase in violent incidents at Disney. It’s similar to what happened with the mask mandates on planes. Visitors are getting angry and even violent in Disney now. I’m glad my daughter doesn’t want to go back.
Wow. Some of you folk are awful. I’m a senior and after waiting in line for over an hour in the morning, I knew I needed a break. I wanted to use the restroom before we actually entered the indoor maze. So I went backwards thru the line (there was room…it wasn’t a cattle call,) and let folk know what was happening. I told a CM as soon as I got out and asked for the nearest Restroom. I came back and reminded folk…hi! I’m back! And everyone was great. Reading this crap, it makes me wonder what exactly is happening to us as a people.
Some of you are going to say “well granny. You should have peed first so… etc. Or if you can’t stand in line, don’t go to a D park. I had used the facilities first. Didn’t happen any other long line. Life happens to everyone once in a while and these horrible folk yelling at the families should be ashamed.
On the other hand, the planned you-stand-in-line-while-we-go-eat/ride/buy-are wrong and should absolutely be stopped.
If you’re with a group in a long a$$ line, and your CHILD has to use the restroom, then YES; best believe an adult or an older sibling is going with my child! It’s only customary that when they return, they regroup with us in line.
Regarding ACTUAL line jumping, THAT’S a different story!! People in line AND the staff need to address it!
BUT don’t get line jumping and people returning to their groups confused.
Now, the real issue is Disneyland making the lines S-L-O-W AF! But why you ask? Hmm.. 🤔 O.. here it is: They are purposely doing this to have us (the consumers) purchase the Genie+ OR Lightning Lane entrance access tickets! From what gather, the Genie+ is about $20 per person, per day, and could be higher depending on the day(s) you go. THEN there is the LIGHTNING ticket on top of it for those that don’t want to wait for the most demanding rides. Those are NOT included in those Genie+ tickets! THAT’S an additional cost ONTOP of the GENIE+!
If the GENERAL lines are too slow, and the Genie+/Lightning lines are going quick, well people are willing to splurge to avoid waiting 2+ hours for a 1-2min ride! Disney is making a FORTUNE! It’s the best sales tactic! Just don’t get made at those having to pee with little bladders! It’s not the faults of those for being frugal.. Those that are yelling, are also in that same a$$ general line! 🤨
Just who is it that is acting rude here? The supposed line jumpers or the insane, vocal morons?
I don’t care how large or noisy a group is, never ever submit to extortion!
Karen is Karen, and 50 Karen’s is still a Karen!
I don’ t have a problem if a child or two have to go to the bathroom. I’ll gladly hold their place for them. Children do not have the nerve development in their bladders to go on demand or to hold their urine . It’s just a fact of human biology. However, I will not remain quiet if there are a few people holding a space for a larger group. Since the wait times and lines have grown excessive people are less tolerant of this rude and privlegded behavior. Many restaurants expect a large party to be present before they are seated. I think that is only fair and should be practice at the parks. I believe Disney should not expect cast members to be the line police .It is Disney responsibility to make it very clear that your entire party must be together before joining an attractions line. There should be bold signage to make sure all people understand it before they get in line.
We were just at Disney last week. My Granddaughters, son in-law and I would wait in line with My daughter tried to find a place to park the stroller, then she would join us. Was this cutting? I hope not. I also have a service Dog. If I stopped to ask a park employee about kennel services with the rest of my family staying in line, was that cutting when I returned to them? I believe that if you still have someone in your group in line. You should still be able the keep your spot. Same as the woman with child. If she asked the people around her if they could save her spot while the little one had to use restroom. I have no issue whatsoever. Only time I would have an issue is if someone blatantly cut in line or saw friends and said can I jump in line. They were not part of their group, had not been in line. No.
I found people very respectful and easygoing. We had a wonderful time. Some people just seem to want to cause problems. It’s sad really.
Radiator springs racers is always a ride that has issues with line jumping when I went for gradnite I waited in line with my friend and there was a group that kept adding people into their group and they were very disrespectful my friend and I were so fed up with their behavior we got out. It was also disappointing because it was my friend’s first time at Disney it was so hectic that ride needs to be monitored a bit more.No body deserves to be booed like that lady and her son kids can’t hold it when you gotta go you go.
I see two problems here:
1) Disney fanatics is a type of disease, really, grow the F up and act civil
2) Americans are losing the compassion and becoming extremely selfish
My dad would wait in line for an hour and a half so that us kids could do something else, then we’d meet up when he got closer. I don’t even see why people are mad. They’re just mad they didn’t think of it
Treat others as you want to be treated. Is that so hard to do? I’ve seen some really long
lines that would challenge adults as well as children. To gang upon that family is just disgusting. The lines are so long anyway, letting in two people isn’t going to greatly increase your wait time.
The most common “line jump” I see is families getting separated 5 spots at the back of the line because of chaos at the entry. (Quite common on the lightning lane scanners). This is all making the proverbial mountain out of a molehill. I hope karma catches all of the intolerants here. Shocking really.
If you leave the line, you have to go to the end of the line when you return. That said, what those people did is not acceptable either. They should have talked to a cast member and let them handle it.
Wow. Amazing how many ADULTS are having a little tantrum because they might have to wait an extra minute to go on a flipping ride!! 😂 You all do realise that you are in a line for ride’s? You’re not in a race, there is no prize at the other end for being first. Let’s hope that you are all not charged with a job that requires maturity.
What has happened to people? When we used to go to Disney…if someone had to take a child to the bathroom, we all happily held their spot in line. People were nice to each other! Of course that was just a few years before social media brainwashed everyone. I’ve been to both parks so many times…but now I’ll never go back because people like this suck.
Guests haven’t gotten ruder Disney’s gotten more greedier I blame disney for getting rid of the fast pass system and injecting the disney genie plus system. There was nothing wrong with the fast pass system and it was something special for both family and kids but now with inflation and everything as high as it is. Now we have to pay on top of that plus pay for food and hotel room come on guys go back to the old ways think about the family not about money you’ll make more when thinking about families and not so much thinking about greed and lining your pockets.
This is both sad and understandable. I can understand the shamefulness of line cutting, but to yell at a child who actually did nothing wrong is just plain inexcusable (it was probably at the mother than the child, but still). I hope those chanters feel shameful for what they did for the child’s sake at least, going to a Disney theme park is supposed to be enjoyable for the family (especially for children) and a bunch of people decided to ruin that for a mother and her kid.
The other guests could have at least calmly explained to the mother that what she chose to do was wrong, but to act this way is atrocious, and again, to a helpless child. I just need five minutes with those people. Of course, the other guests are not reading these comments, but in case any of you who were those and chose to do so are enjoying these comments, hope you feel proud of yourselves for damaging a mother and her child like this. Hope the same thing happens to you next time around, what you dish out eventually comes back on your plate. Have fun knowing that you made a child whose day was supposed to be happy and memorable cry like that, and you call yourselves adults, that’s a laugh.
Disney has a card they present for single riders at front of some high attention/wanted rides to measure line waits and for parent single-riders switch outs. They most likely have CMs at points in the line to keep order. Maybe employ same theory for bathroom situation? Get cards that specifically state “bathroom pass” for parent with a small child – under age 10. When they return they present the pass to CM at front who then excanges the pass for one which allows them entrance to single rider line. They then surrender that pass. Trying to think of way to keep it from being abused right now. 🤔
The Park needs to come up with ways to shorten the lines. They could have a max wait time for each attraction – say 30 minutes -and close the line when it reaches the max. Guests could then find another attraction whose line isn’t closed and come back to the former attraction. The park could, at the same time, announce wait times somehow on the attractions. For the not so cheap price of admission the park should do more to sole this dilemma.
Well if they were in line then a child had to go to the restroom he’s just a child under 10 do you want him to go dy himself and get lost or abducted. To the people that cheered shame on you.
Chanted not cheered, and I found out more about the incident, had a nice conversation with the poster from Reedit, I will tell you what they told me to make things clearer for everyone else here.
” The mother and kid were originally in front of the poster, it all happened after they were very behind. The poster happened to see them when the cast members took them from the queue near where they were, so they were not near people who would have seen them waiting for an over hour. The child was not little, the child was actually around twelve.
The poster did not see what happened, because the cast members escorted them out of the line, was not able to see if they headed to the front of the line, or out entirely, and the queue was massive with hundreds of people.
It was dark, the park was near closing. It was so busy and the line was taking longer than usual time. The crowd got rowdy, not many families with little kids were present, adults on a Friday night. The poster did not see any bad behavior by the guests, just many frustrated hot people waiting way too long and a big misunderstanding. I replied to their post on Reedit, and after the poster clarified, I was apologetic for not believing the incident, and as I said in my reply, it was most likely not the whole line chanting, I was right, but enough for them to hear it from ahead. Everyone was trying to figure out what was going on. ”
That all said, it does not sound as bad as I originally thought it was. Told I am presuming a guy that I saw it here and envisioned something else entirely, but it still sounds very sad, since the mother and kid were actually crying. Hopefully, they got to go on the ride or at least went the next day. Hope the people though who did chant were proud of themselves for ruining what was supposed to be a pleasant family experience for a mother and kid, I can understand about line cutting, but you do not go off on a parent and their kid like that.
The world is evil, mean, greedy and nasty. That’s the way it is. You can’t even type a comment without a pop up coming right over your writing while you type.
DISNEY needs to fix THAT PROBLEM. And they need to get line monitors. Depending on the size of their crowds.
They need to have 2 to 4 line monitors per line, walking up and down it. ..Its not like they cant afford to do it. And people dont seem to know how to act civilly with each other anymore, instead act like abused 9 year olds bullys on the play ground.. Then they need to have people watching them and solving issues in that line like on a school yard.. Make people raise their hands if they need to use the restroom and have the monitor save their place.. Or give people with young children buzzers for the day in case they have a situation.. They already have eyes on everyone.. Im sure they could figure this out.. That they havent done so, is just their greed, not spending the money necessary to do so..And people need to grow up and start acting like theyre not Neanderthals toward each other.. this is idi*tic. And Im glad people werent acting anything like this when my son was little and we had passes to that place each year.. Nothing like that ever happened then..Not once!
As a general rule, I don’t like the people who have one person wait in line while the other 10 or so join them at the last minute. Yes, I have seen this happen. No, it’s not relegated to a certain demographic, unless you count rude as a demographic.
However, this was not that. This was a single mother and child. Even if an adult has to leave the line for a quick bathroom break as bladder leakage can be a problem at any age, it’s okay for their party to hold their place in line. If more than one or two people have to leave the line, then they need to at least let others ahead of them until their party returns.
I will admit that with the length of some of the lines these days, they probably should provide a “potty pass” to leave the line and return to where you were before.
His do you know what this was? This is literally a claim from the rule breaker herself about what happened. There is no reason for a rational person to trust a word of it.
Things happen. If you need to temporarily get out of line for your child. Let others know if they will save their place. Usually people are decent with that.
There is a big difference between young teens and a small child. Totally understand if a little kid needs to go to the restroom! Young teens get very mouthie and have no respect for anything. I sure hope they were not kicked out. Shame on those people.
Actually, confirmed by the Reedit user, the child was actually around twelve years old, not a small child. I am baffling why the child just did not go by himself and then come back so his mother would his line for him, I am sure that would have make things much better for everyone. Yes, it was dark but still. From what I gather, the mother also probably did not ask anyone what she had to do.
Additionally, confirmed by the other user, the park was dark and it was near closing, the crowd was getting rowdy, no adults with little kids, adults on a Friday night. The queue must have been full of hundreds. I get line cutting and why people have an issue with it, I get the problem with the mother, but come on, tons of adults yelling at both a mother and her helpless kid, probably more so at his mother but still, possibly scarring him. I don’t know. I am actually surprised why the mother and son did not take it to the internet, but the person who supposedly viewed it all did. A bit suspicious actually. I feel like there is much more here than what is not being said.
So my take on this as a solo traveler is this: if I get out of line for any reason I get to the back of the line, I try to plan around my waiting but it can be a tough call. That said I see no issue for a guardian and a small child getting back in front of me, I get it and don’t get upset about it, it’s the large groups meeting up or the ones who went and did something else (another ride, shopping, etc) that get on my nerves. But that’s my opinion on the issue and I might grumbled a bit but I’m not going to start shouting because I’m there to have fun and that’s just a small hitch in my trip.
It’s extremely clear that people have nothing better to complain then if a person goes pee & then takes their place back with their family. And hopefully Disneyland will “throw out” the cry babies chanting like this. If this is what keeps you up at night maybe you should stay home. This is why kids bullying Cause of parents & people like this. A friend of mine was told by a cast member that this is NOT considered line jumping. To ruin a families day because of this CLEARLY shows we’re the problem lies. Poor adults selfishly acting as if they have so much entitlement they all cry cause they can’t get to their little ride fast enough. Parents failed miserably with these humans.
I agree on both sides to a degree. The holding spaces for ppl to jump the line once you make it to the top is not cool! We were in the Velocicoaster line at Universal this year & the weather was extremely hot. My niece fainted while we were mid point in line. My sister & myself had to walk her back down through the line to get her water. Everyone that was around us and those we past going back down were very co concerned. We let my daughter & her friends stay in line. About 15 minutes past, she perked back up & was back hydrated. We let the park personnel know what happened & they let us back up to find my daughter and her friends who were only 14. Thankfully we didn’t run into what this poor lady ran into with the crowd. There was alot of ppl that recognized us cause I could hear them say that’s the girl that passed out and there were some that didn’t but thankfully they let us go past with no incident & we luckily found my daughter. Not everyone is rude but ppl should have more compassion, especially with kids.
We waited almost 2 hours in a line due to a breakdown, but the ride was running again. I had back surgery and sometimes need to use the restroom- embarrassingly it can’t wait. I was telling my husband I had to leave. A cast member noticed my discomfort and asked what was wrong. We explained we would leave the line. They were very kind and had my husband wait with them and let me out the exit and then back in to where my husband waited. Others continued to be boarded, but we did not have to resume what was now a 90 min wait. I appreciated that cast member’s kindness and try to be just as understanding for others – I know these things happen. Huge groups pushing through, I agree, are ridiculous. Be kindness for someone in need should not be a big deal.
When I went with my family earlier this year I actually had this same situation happen. If lines are going to be an hour-plus long, there should be facilities for the que and cast members to ensure that there is no harassment of those who try to get back to their spot. Either that or prepare to start smelling old p*ss in line because people are gunna just start relieving themselves in line, especially if this type of harassment is allowed to happen.
I saw people (younger individuals) throwing food items, popcorn and candy at a person who had an older kid, but still a child, with them coming back from the bathroom. People really suck and Disney is just letting the whole Disney experience become trashy and honestly it’s starting to feel like universal in the early 2000s, grimy with grimy people.
What this comes down to is responsibility. The mother should have taken responsibility for her child. She should have taken her to the restroom before the ride. And if her child couldn’t wait in a 1 or two hour line, she should have taken responsibility as a parent and not put her young daughter in a line that long. There are other options. Disability passes allow you to wait outside the queue and then go ride. You can pay for fast passes, or you can skip rides with long lines and do something else. Parents dragging their kids through Disney doing what they want to do oly causes problems. If you are at Disney with a child, you HAVE to fit your trip to their needs. If you don’t want to then leave them at home
Why is everyone presuming this is automatically true? O-k, I know I posted a lot here, but I have addressed some major details in one of my replies that people have overlooked.
As I confirmed here, the child was actually near twelve, and it would be very sad and disturbing if this in fact happened. However, do remember that this article is based on one single Reedit post, which could quite possibly have been elaborated or just posted for the sake of it. None of us was there to confirm or to deny, and sorry, but I will not put my truth on one measly post. If it did happen, it most likely did not happen like this, especially given the confirmed details the Reedit poster confirmed to me.
Not many families were left, mostly adults. It was dark outside and the park was near closing. The queue was already jam packed. Click on the link for the Reedit post mentioned in the article. Tons of adults doing this to another adult, yeah I get that, but come on a helpless kid, over waiting in line for something that is mostly a kids ride especially when it was mostly adults left. No. I have seen inappropriate behavior at parks, inappropriate cast member behavior, brawls, parents screaming at their kids, but this, nope, next.
The real issue is the number of guests allowed into the park is too many. Disney needs to be better at managing crowds and not leave it up to us parents to self police everything
My husband and I have 5 children. 4 of them now are grown adults but we still have a 9 yr old at home and 2 grandchildren. We have been taking the kids every year sometimes twice a year for almost the last 30 years. I agree line jumping is an issue to a degree but… Adults need to understand when a small child that has a bladder the size of a pea has to go potty and has been standing in line for a long time and probably has still a long time to wait people need to cut that child some slack. The adult with the child though needs to handle the situation correctly and get a cast member to let them know what’s going on so they can safely get back in the spot and not upset anyone. Or get a pass to come back at a later time. It all about handling the situation correctly and appropriately thrn nobody feels like anyone is trying to get one up on them. Because that’s sadly all it’s about. Come on people. It’s suppose to be the Happiest Place On Earth but it’s turning into a nightmare. I can’t say this place is suppose to be about the kids because to be honest the reason we started going was because my husband loves Disneyland. To this day he is the one that is the first that says when are we going this year. So I know all the adults out there love it just as much as the kids. Trust me I get it. We just need to respect eachother and cut the kids some slack but the adults can’t be using the kids as an excuse to be be cutting the line either. It’s got to be a give and take. You can tell if someone is truly being dishonest or not. Especially if you have a ton of people throwing a fit. You can see it in their eyes. One more thing to throw out there. I have to cruise Disneyland in a electric scooter now because i am now disabled and I can only go on certain rides. But basically 6 of us can go together as a group. On the Disneyland side in Anaheim they have you go thru the exit to wait. I know the wait can get quite long over at the Haunted Manison. Now if we were waiting as a group and my little one or one of my grandchildren had to pee they have let them out to potty and they let them back in with us. Nobody got upset or said anything. The cast members have always been polite and nice. I only mention this because for those that don’t know about this courtesy they allow disabled people. They allow you to take yourself and a group with you through the exit because it’s not fair for you to have to go thru alone or have to just choose 1-2 people because your disabled when typically people come with their family. So please be kind do just assume someone is doing something wrong right away trying to jump a line get ahead of you or whatever. Just try to enjoy your time with your loved ones. Everyone is going to get a turn it just takes time. Have fun all and enjoy. Just might see you there for Thanksgiving 😊
What’s with all the unkind words, that is whats wrong with todays society, some one who has been waiting in line has to pee, nature calls to all…be kind, be nice it may be YOU one day!!!!!
Comments for Wild Chants Break Out Against Mother and Child at Disneyland Ride
Megan
It’s a real issue and people are rudely cutting. They mention something about meeting a party up ahead but those people don’t exist. In my book, if you get out of line, you have lost your place.
Lori
If I’m waiting in line with my friend and my child and the child has to use the restroom NOW, don’t you think it’s fair to allow them back in line where the friend is? This is real life. Someone who’s a complete stranger can do the same and save your place. Maybe I’m too understanding to be at Disney Parks anymore. A lot of very rude people who have forgotten how to treat others.
Kris
Park rules are no holding places I line. I do believe that there should be an exception for small children who need to pee, but I don’t think there is that exception in the park rules. Everyone else must enter the line together and must remain in line the entire time or you lose your place. Leaving and coming back after somebody held your place is line jumping and grounds for removal from the park. Read the rules. They aren’t new.
C bagwell
Well then, maybe just let people pee right there..in the line. You can walk thru it. Unbelievable.. not letting someone take their kid to the bathroom while waiting in line. It’s a park for KIDS. I swear, no one has grown up since the 90s brats and trophy for all crap. you rude immature adults need to grow up and get some understanding and compassion already.
Mindy
I’m a childfree adult and agree with you. If a kid has to pee, they have to pee. Better take them seriously or you’ll be standing in their urine when they move up two feet. The crowd of adults however can screw right off with meeting up with everyone else.
YourDad
You are advocating for what you hate, not planning ahead is the same as trophy for all, numb nuts. Leave the line, back of the line, period
DD
You are a jerk and the very epitome of all the idiots around today. You cannot plan for a child not to pee in a line with up to 60 mins wait. You see worse than a jerk..you are ignorant and stupid.
Nathan
Well said!! Bravo! Immature whining babies! No compassion and a crowd full of bullies!! Speak out lessons to these spoiled brats who never received spanking or discipline. They should be ashamed of them selves
Jaffrey
Exactly! I was born in 94, but I agree with absolutely every word of hard cold truth, proceeding from your mind! These people need to be euthanized.
llLarry M Whalen
The ones that need to pee or the ones with no sympathy to the reality of life ?
Res
Just do a kid bladder check before a ride with a long line. Is that rocket science?
Nathan
Well said!! Bravo! Immature whining babies! No compassion and a crowd full of bullies!! Speak out lessons to these spoiled brats who never received spanking or discipline. They should be ashamed of them selves
Noel
Parents have always been allowed to take their kids to the bathroom and come back to the line. That isn’t line jumping. Line jumping is when one person is holding the line and is almost to the front and a group of people join. Not a person standing in the line already, leaving for 5-10 minutes and then coming back to wait in the rest of the line. This is the disgusting cancel culture that tik tok breeds.
Jaffrey
Exactly this! To think there are even comments on here starting that “pArK RuLeS sTaTe tHeRe Is No LeAvINg LiNeS.” Entitled brats, who need to be euthanized. I’m looking flats to the day, when I personally eliminate them. It’s coming, mark my words.
Uncle Freddy
Line jumping with large teen gangs has been going on for decades, witnessed it back in the 90s at 6 flags
Lindy
Angelita Mendez

John McIntosh
So I can see where he’s coming from there
RoRoy
Megan, it’s only courteous and civil to work with parent’s/grandparents with small children. I’m a grandparent and a Vietnam veteran with disabilities, I still make concessions out of respect and common decency for everyone’s peace. Be I do agree with line jumpers and other’s be dealt with by disney but I guess they don’t make enough profit to provide sanity and safety a concern once they have your money? Good Luck.
Dph
I’m with you RoRoy. As a fellow grandparent, we have to be realistic about the needs of small children Line jumping has always been a problem, but has recently reached new heights. I was in Disney a few months ago and it isn’t the same place. If things continue as they are, line jumping will be the least of their problems.
Mary
Disney should add a restroom partway thru the queue. And a drinking fountain. We had a cast member take one of our little ones out to the bathroom and return them to us.
Mikki
Joe's milk
That’s a pretty reasonable argument John. I think the mom and child should have been let back into the line. There are no doubt people that abuse people’s kindness to cut lines, but by being petty to others who don’t, we won’t get anywhere.
D23 Member
I believe Disney policy is to notify a Cast member who will escort you back into line.
Rick Williams
I do think your children come first – however, I also believe that if there is someone in your party still in line, they should wait for you to come back and let people move ahead, so there is not a hold-up. Then when the mother and child return, they can get right back into the same place in line they were.
Ashley
We had 3 young kids with us this time, two who rode rides. This is basically what we did if we had a bathroom emergency. If it was taking too long I would let people go until I could them coming back. I also asked every couple hours if they needed to go. Only got stuck in an insanely long wait once where my 5 yo had to pee bad. I definitely understand unexpected long waits happen and it’s hard with kids. We got stuck in the tunnel during the line to get on Splash mountain for over 45 min and didn’t end up riding because people were stuck in a log at top
llLarry M Whalen
This is how my family handles situations such as these and we have never had a problem in the hundreds of times we’ve been there since 1985, (!).
Steven
Just because they live in a trailer park don’t make them “undesirables or ghetto”. The majority of people who attend Disney Lane are low income and uses credit cards to finance their adventure. Those are the people who do the chatting. I sure there are people who line jump, but there is no need to become unruly towards the child or the mother.
llLarry M Whalen
I do not care about color or where they are from, but my take on his comment may have been in reference to the gang members and loud mouths.
Sharon
I’ve saved a stranger’s place in line for the same reason in the Frozen line at EPCOT. A kindness doesn’t increase the wait time for the people behind. Just watch to see them come back and wave so everyone knows they aren’t cutting the line but rejoining their location. Costs nothing to treat people decently.
Riah
Thank you for being a decent human. I’m about to have a newborn and was thinking about taking him to the parks when he’s old enough (2-3) solo but these comments have me scared. No one has empathy for kids anymore.
Stacy
You’re absolutely right. It costs is nothing but a simple human kindness. When did being nasty and cruel become the norm? It doesn’t cost you anything to be kind to someone. I wish ppl would practice the Golden Rule
YourWifesBull
And where is your respect for the others? What entitles you to that spot in line where if any adult leaves they have to join the end of the line. No your kid does not get priority over anyone else. Practice what you preach, breeders are so damn entitled
Compton
What an asinine comment. You are probably an undesirable your damn self
Jayne D Evans
I agree nature calls to all kinds of people, not just the kiddos, Be kind, be nice…it may be YOU one day!!
Todd
Absolutely not. Use the restroom between rides, before you get in line. If you get out of the line, go to the back of the line. We use the restroom very frequently between attraction queues. Even if you don’t think you need to go, just do it. Then you won’t feel like you need to cut the line because you were irresponsible. Keep your party together at all times in line
Ricky Abraham Jr
But that’s the kind of people Disney is attracted now a day
Kim
I agree. When your child needs to use the restroom, you have no choice but to leave. People have no compassion anymore, especially with young children. That poor mother and child. To have endured that kind of bullying at a place that should have been family friendly. I really hope Disney helped them rather then making that horrible experience even worse.
Cherie Casey

I would love to start a group of genuinely concerned help me out with this?👍😎💪❤️🙏🇺🇲
Mikki
TOTALLY CORRECT!! The experience is SO DIFFERENT than it was 25 years ago! I took my grandsons (age 14) they didn’t want to go back the next day!!! We went to the beach!
Dora
Do you have kids? Sometimes when you stand in line for 1-2 hours they have to go to the bathroom, I had to leave my husband and son in the Racers line the last time we were there in 2017 to take my then 4 year old daughter to the bathroom. Should my 4 year old have had to miss the ride because she was too young to predict her bladder wouldn’t hold for almost 2 hours? This is unreasonable to expect and this should be a family oriented park, not an adult play place! I let the people behind us know she had to potty and that we would be back-no problem!
Dr. V
Oh you’re so funny and original….loser!
Dr.v
Loser! Go back to your cave, neanderthal.
Your dad
Is it fair, no absolutely not. Back of the line, make sure your bladder is empty before you get in line your friend can very much meet you at the back of the line
Compton
You Sir. Are a bonefide idiot
Steve
Stay out of the parks, line cutter.
Linda M Gonzalez
Totally agree
Teddy Gingerich
Oh, I see. You mean black and brown people? Poor people who have saved up for a trip?
In other words, you don’t want anyone at the park who isn’t white and well off. Got it.
Phillysub
And for some reason you think only black or brown people are poor. Time for a reality check.
Rozi11a
Not everybody black and brown is poor that’s rude to assume
Linda M Gonzalez
You are 100 percent correct
Seejay
I hear ya. I work in a place with a cafeteria. They rope it off and let ppl in when they are ready. This large and in charge woman just says Oh hell nah and burst through a dozen people and a barrier. You can guess her ethnicity pretty easily. And all of the violence I see is fr them. Pathetic.
Jaffrey
Yes absolutely! It’s disgusting who the target demographic is. I can’t believe my childhood heaven has become an adult ces pool for groomers, aimed at children. It makes me want to pick up arms! Then, on the other hand, we have these idiots who have no common decency, to even allow a CHILD to pee and have the Disney experience that, for many, is a once in a lifetime opportunity! It is convoluted, and disgusting, on all ends.
Anne

J
Kick out the chanters then maybe they’ll remember their at disneyland its ment for the children. rude ass people these days
Steve
Kick out the line cutters like yourself.
Tay
I hate false line jumpers, but to shout at a woman and her child shows just how unbelievable people can be. If someone asked me to save their spot I would. Unless they come back with a pack.
Brandy
Personally I think the Disney Cast member should have walked the crying mom and child to the front of the line.
Steve
Walk them to the front of the park.
I hate crackers
Go take a long walk off a pier while blindfolded you cave dwelling neanderthal

How could you?!
Karl
I agree and when that sensible approach is respected, it works. Problem is now that so many are just being rude and using any excuse to cut. Staff and security need to be proactive and people would get the message
Matt
Undesirable demographics?!
That’s a disgusting turn of phrase.
If you ask me these so called family friendly venues are very ironically named, as there is nothing friendly about them whatsoever.
The American “family” is an embarrassment.
Behold the American parent 🤮
Steve
The only ignorant comments are the ones denying facts because they are inconvenient, like yours.
Compton
Facts ? You mean the fact you are an idiot ? Everyone has a comment. Just like you
Brandon
Mike Daniels
Rude and angry people (of course, with the changes to “Disney values” and costs, most of the guest are angry. No one likes to feel like they are being taken advantage of.
Sheri
It’s horrible and disgusting! No regard for the small child. People have turned into mobs and bullys. They clearly had people there stating they were there in line. It was clear she was by herself with the child, what was she supposed to do. A civil society would have let her back. Now they traumatized a child and for what videos and tic tok posts.
Lindy
Wow!! Foreign tourists and undesirable demographics… gee, I wonder what that means? Unless you are Native American, you too are a tourist!!
What a tool!!
Steve
What a stupid post, but this is what extremist leftist actually believe.
Elaine
Unless you count rude as a demographic, there’s really no such thing as an undesirable demographic.
Sam
I completely agree! If the ones complaining had to use the restroom you can bet they’d want their place in line back. I don’t agree in line jumping. What happened to treat others as you expect to be treated?
Dante

Those should be sent out of the line for anti-social behaviour, not the poor mum and child who just left for the loo.
lovesdisney
I disagree,if I was asked to save the place of someone because a CHILD had to go pee,I would absolutely understand. When is it alright (chanting crowd) to make a child feel bad for having to pee or for any reason? It’s not ever okay. This mom was also crying because of feeling the hurt of her child.Shame be on anyone that scares a child or embarrasses a child.
Taylor
exactly. That was thug like behaviour and they shoukd hsve been kicked out the line, not the poor mum and child.
Lou
So if you have a bladder problem then you can’t go on Radiator Springs? I totally agree that line jumpers are doing something that’s very wrong, and it is rightly infuriating to those who are being harmed by it, but it would be nice if they could work out some way of letting people return to the line if they legitimately have to use the bathroom.
Sora
Well I heard that they flag down a cast member to hold the place for them. Good idea but when you can’t find anyone ether let someone whizz themselves or risk this.
Bonnie
We had to wait in a line for over an hour and a half, lots of mom’s with kids had to head back to use the restrooms. I don’t begrudge them goING and coming back.
Kindness always wins.
Mary
There should be a Disney person at long lines to give a person like this mom taking her kid to pee, something to prove they can return to the same place when they return. Not impossible.
We’re all becoming hateful. At the least impatient, unloving and unwilling to share fun.

Welcome to today’s society…a whole lot of bullies everywhere. It’s a sad reality that unfortunately people lack compassion, understanding, empathy, sympathy, consideration, common courtesy, respect, etc..in today’s society. And it’s only getting worse.
Minni
Clearly someone with no children or empathy!
Cathy
Brandon
Daniel
Then you have no business being in line to begin with. There are times when a person is justified in stepping out of line with the expectation to not lose their place. Taking a child to use the bathroom is definitely one of those times!!!
Rosanne Taylor
Obviously you do not have children.
Carmela Jones
I disagree. If there is a legit reason to have to leave the line for a bit, someone spells Save the Spot for them. You can tell the people In front of you that you are leaving the line, and if they’re nice they will acknowledge you later.
Chip Rock
Megan, I hope you develop a bowel condition that causes spontaneous destructive diarrhea.
Steve
I hope someone beats your ass for line cutting.
MIKKI
You OBVIOUSLY do not have Children!!! WTF???
Mikki
You OBVIOUSLY do not have children!!! Get back to us after you give birth!!
Dasho
Dasho
Dee
Oh come on everyone needs to potty. Save their place in line, have to dignity man
Steve
Extreme doubt. If the story is true, don’t you think someone in the line would remember them? If i am waiting more than minutes, I definitely will recall the people immediately in front of and behind me. The fact apparently no one did makes this an easy case to solve.
There is always an excuse with these line cutting scumbags. Start banning them for life.
Karen
Someone did see them. They tried to tell people they were there and just had to go to the bathroom but no one listened. It says that right in the article
Steve
“Someone” sure.
How about everyone else they would have passed exiting the line? You know, the people who clearly have no idea who they are?
Tired of cutters and those who excuse them.
Bella
Steve
Read the article, people in line did try to tell cast members that they were in the line
Mary
You’re saying that solving the problem is to rely on the person in front of and behind the person returning is enough? So much wrong with that answer that you ignore. I repeat, there needs to be a permanent way to handle this and avoid the immature anger from happening.
Steve
I’m saying it is very unlikely this would have happened as the woman is claiming it did.
Brandon
Brandon
Steve
Exactly. This story to me sounds like a Karen who got caught cutting the line and told a tall tale to make herself the victim.
Brandon
Tammy
I’m sickbof the bathroom excuse its cutting use it before you get in line if you get out of line you are out of line go to the end.Bsthroom is no excuse.Sick of the excuse.
Dj
Must be nice not not have any medical condition or a teeny tiny bladder that can’t hold pee for more than 15 minutes. Grown adults picking on small children. Do you see yourself for the villain in some poor kids trauma at the supposedly happiest place on earth?
Riah
Amen!
Scott
Maybe if you have to pee everyy fifteen minutes a theme park isn’t a realistic vacation
Steve
If you have a real problem, go to guest services. Breaking rules isn’t an entitlement.
Matt
Calm down Karen, waiting 3 more minutes won’t hurt you. I bet you’re a blast at parties…
Steve
Maybe everyone should cut the line, then?
Cher
Seriously?? How about that kid just pee in line so you can step in it?
Would that make you happy ?
Linda
Its not cutting if you were already in the line
Steve
If you leave the line, you forfeit your position. Read the rules and obey them.
Dasho
Jean S Stewart
You obviously are NOT a parent!!!
YourWifesBull
Try it at the DMV then
Scott (not the intolerant one above)
Amen Brent Choi! You people being intolerant of kids are idiots. I feel sorry for the world my kids are now part of. To be fair, I’ve spent a lot of time at DL, and never seen jerks like those representing here, so mostly this is keyboard warrior stuff. Always be patient with those with needs. Kids, disabilities, whatever.
M
Quote: We tried to say that we saw them before they left but people were yelling so loud,” the Guest said. “Not sure what ended up happening
Dj
So with a cancer kid who has to pee almost every 20 minutes I should lose my place in line every time a line exceeds 15 minutes? Some of y’all are cruel and miss the point that Disneyland was made for enjoyment, not tormenting a parent with a small child. Radiator has 90 minute wait times almost daily if not more, the age that ride is marketed to is 4/5 most of them can’t hold it that long once they have to go. Absolutely disgusting behavior and some of these comments… y’all have gotten so far from kindness it’s heartbreaking.
Rachy
FYI DJ if this is your situation, you should check out this Disability Access Service. It’s designed for exactly this kind of situation.
Linda
Disney makes you explain your situation and if they don’t feel it qualifies they deny that pass and tell you to wait in line
Steve
What is your point?
If the company doesn’t think it warrants special treatment, that does not entitle you to start breaking the rules. It definitely doesn’t entitle every random person to start breaking the rules whether or not they actually have any reason to.
Linda
It’s very very sad. People do have legitimate reasons for assistance or grace at times. Medical, age, physical reasons. It’s a shame people are so hateful
Steve
Maybe people would be more understanding if there weren’t so many line cutters with no excuse at all. It is impossible to visit a theme park these days without seeing at least one blatant line cut per day.
Dasho
It’s people like that can only see black and white. They’re incapable of using logic and intellect to make out the gray areas. If it’s not *super simple* they can’t figure it out to make a fair judgment call.
Anon
That Radiator Springs line is brutal. I went with my kids three weeks after opening and it was a three hour wait with very little shade in the summer. No vendors at that time. Saw a few families just give up and leave after waiting an hour or two. I had watermelon in my backpack and thirst and hot people were just staring at it as we ate it in line. Kinda wondered if someone was gonna king me for the watermelon, lol.
Mickeymouse3
A legit bathroom break is one thing, but the majority of line cutters are just BS’ers trying to work their angle. On the other hand, CM’s should be able to assist guests with a marker of sorts to allow the guest to return to their spot after a bathroom break, without much fanfare.
MH
Shame on those who were chanting! THOSE are the people that should have been thrown out. Happiest place on Earth my ass. SMH If you’re going to act like that, especially to a small child, you don’t deserve to be there. I understand line cutters are the worst, but to make them start crying and taunt them until they leave is disgusting! I hope that mom gets a lifetime pass!
Steve
Incorrect, MH. The rules are very clear. Line cutters are subject to removal and bans. It is high time this rule be enforced.
Lily
Brandon
Kris
A small child having to pee is the only acceptable loophole to the “your entire party must enter the line together and stay in line together” rule. I definitely understand the other guests being upset however. Too many people have been line-cutting in every park recently. Not just at Disney.
Brandon
Well, I found out by the Reedit poster that the child was actually around twelve, so he could have easily gone by himself and she could have held his place in line. I can understand the frustration with the other guests, line cutting is line cutting period, but to traumatize a mother and her son like that to the point of making them cry clearly is out of line, ‘let us scar this boy’, how about no. Hopefully the boy and his mother will have a better visit and not have to remember this night. I am shocked though why the staff did not call them on that, but I do not entirely buy this story. Some things just do not add up.
Matt
Steve
And yet here you are literally repeating one side (the line cutter) as if it is gospel truth.
Trish Suvino-D'Anna
This is only my opinion. Others are entitled to their’s as well.
Shane P Dalton
My wife used to work at Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom. It clearly states in park rules, there is no holding spots in line or line cutting. The fact of the matter is you get out of line you lose your spot, rules are rules.
Brandon
Is there any rule in which you cannot threaten, harass, and intimidate a parent and his or her child? I am sure there is, anywhere. Don’t you find it a bit suspicious that the other guests were not publicly called for their actions? It is the child part I find most troubling, they probably scarred that poor kid. They probably went home with grins on their faces feeling proud of what they did, though honestly as I said numerous times here, I am not necessarily buying into this entire story. Just because someone posted on Reedit does not make it automatically true.
Dasho
Trish Suvino-D'Anna
I don’t have children of my own. Wouldn’t it be a bit easier to ask the child or children if they need a bathroom break before going to stand on a line? If it were me the Parent asked, I’d have no problem with it. But, I would tell them to ask the people behind me if it was alright. Otherwise I’d be getting yelled at for making the decision for everyone else on the line.
Steve
That would work if you weren’t trying to cut the line.
Leslie Brown
Take your child to the bathroom alot while at the parks, could the mom have told a CM she had to step out of line for the bathroom. I feel bad for the mom and the child. I get rules are rules.
Trish Suvino-D'Anna
Another reason why I prefer WDW. EPCOT with the World Showcase doesn’t really appeal to the little ones. I adore that park! I admit that I really enjoy the huge smiles on the little ones faces when they see the parades and especially the fireworks!
Dave
Linda
Then they would get half way through the line again and the child may need to go again. They are small children with small bladders. Was the 30 seconds they would take to get on going to really hurt over them potentially starting over with a 60 minute or more wait?
Steve
Your opinion is irrelevant. The rules are clear. If you don’t like them, wait for the county fair.
Scott (not the intolerant one above)
Actually it’s yours that is irrelevant Steve. I see a kid and mom or dad move forward in line to meet their family all the time, and people willingly move to allow them to meet up their family all the time. The de facto rule (practice) is different than the intolerance you are spouting.
Lea
Steve
Low IQ people who believe every word they see on reddit would literally be the first to go in any disaster.
Hello, that is you.
Brandon
Brandon
Linda
So people are upset about being in the same place in line they were already in before the child had to pee but think screaming and making a child is ok? They should have been removed from the park not the child
Linda
Making a child cry*
Steve
Read the park rules.
Create Happiness
Patricia
Chris
If one or two are stepping out to run to the restroom, anyone should be able to understand that. If there were a party of 10 trying to catch up to a single person in line, then that would be a different story.
And really, would you rather them go in the line and shut the ride down for several hours?
Christi
You step out of line, you go to the back. Period.
Gordon
You might want to add portable toilets along the way of the line. This way a person may not have to go all the way back to the beginning of the line to go to the restroom.
Ashley
We went with a large group. We always tried to stay together. When getting in to line, many times some of our party would get cut off. I had a woman cuss me out for trying to grab my toddler from my husband because she wouldn’t let my husband through even though it was clear she had cut them off from the rest of our group. The ride operator grabbed the last person of our group out of line when we told them what happened when we got up front.
Miyuki
Last time I was there I saw one person go through the lighting lane legitimately and than rest of their party climbing through normal lane (further into line away from cast member) to meet up after cutting through people pretending to meet up with their party in normal lane.
Mows
Was in line at bug’s life filk’s fliers for a little bit when my 4 year old peed his pants right in the line. Oops please step over the puddle. ha ha.
Shell
Even though they were potty trained,I had my 5 yrolds wrar pull ups just in case because of the lines. They never needed them but better safe than sorry..
Cameron
On a hot day in Disneyland when you’re trying to keep your children hydrated it’s hard to wait over an hour in A line without having them need to use the bathroom. Something tells me people wouldn’t be happy with a child peeing next to you in line either. Or maybe we’re supposed to put all children in diapers to make you happy. Grow up! Not everyone is trying to cut in line.
Shell
I had my 5 yr old wear pull ups just in case at Disney. Better safe than sorry.
WetLlama
Going by people’s reactions it was more likely that they were doing what we saw dozens of times in Disneyland. Half the family would line up for a ride and the other half would run to the bathroom (or for snacks) and “catch up”. Only once in 4 days did I see someone leave a line to use the bathroom and then return. Everyone else were one way travellers.
Scott
Ditto
Steve
They always have an excuse when called out. Then they pretend to be the victims.
This is why zero tolerance and making that clear is so important.
WetLlama
It’s so common we started calling them the “make your own fastpass” people.
Terri Starr
yes-this!
if my group has been in line for more than 20 minutes – i would have taken note of somebody going past me to get out of line to go to the bathroom. if i don’t recognize you – i am thinking you really weren’t in front of me. and, if you really have the rest of your group “up front” at that point in time – you are line cutting – not “coming back” from the bathroom.
when a line gets lengthy – and disney knows which rides these are – a cm should be posted to monitor for line cutting. a simple fix to a growing problem. this cm would also be available to assist those having to take a child to the bathroom return to their previous position in the line. folks would figure out the rules and inability to be so rude and this bad behavior would stop.
come on disney !
you know the problem – work on fixing it!
Alithia
I do not think line jumping should be allowed, especially for large groups, but I do think exceptions should be made for families with children that need a bathroom break. Perhaps Disney can come up with a way to allow for the bathroom breaks while preventing the real line jumpers from cutting in. And maybe, just maybe, people should stop being so rude to one another. Stop the “me first” attitude. The Happiest Place On Earth was meant for all to enjoy, not just a few or just you!
Andrew
It’s not just at Disneyland. People all over are loosing their values and morals. Anyhow, with nuclear destruction just around the corner ..not even Disneyland will be able to save them
Roy
All that Disney cares about is PROFITS! My daughter and two year old grandson were there three days ago and they were subject to the same thing, line jumpers and just rude nasty people? I hope the families come together and demand more for our money than the crap that’s been going on since the reopening, we have the power, PLEASE pull together for all of our sake but in particular the kid’s. I would love to start a group of genuinely concerned help me out with this?👍😎💪❤️🙏🇺🇲
Alexc
I suggested getting numbers assigned or an app that beeps when it’s your turn. Like when you go to a restaurant and u have to wait for a table. They give you a buzzer. If they made an app where u go to the ride and scan ur phone. The app would ask how many riding and to be at the ride in a certain amount of time. It would be inexpensive. I know it would have to have some rules n all but maybe it could help with these issues. H
Constance
I understand because there are so many line jumpers it’s ridiculous. However, this child had to use the restroom so it was not line jumping. I hope she and her son were not kicked off the ride.
Steve
According to the mother. After being caught.
Dis Lad
With the ride waits getting longer with the increased crowds and the addition of Genie/Genie+ adding to the extended waits, I think Disney should consider adding bathroom facilities along the queue for this very reason. You can see this at Animal Kingdom on Flight of Passage.
Disney needs to at least do something constructive with the money they’re charging. Add bathroom facilities in the lines. We all know that the money is not going to maintenance and upkeep of attractions.
Alexc
Since this is an obvious issue maybe they should start passing out ticket numbers like when u go to a parking garage, or an app for your phone that will buzz when it’s your turn like in a restaurant when you’re table is ready.
Steve
Then they will get tickets for every ride in the park.
lorraine
as a mom of 3 and grandmother, when we took our boys and then our grandkids, we ALWAYS went to the restroom inbetween each ride we did…….didnt matter if they said they didnt have to go, we just said to try and it worked……….Never had a problem with them in line
Diane Fields
Did you have to wait in line for 3 hours?
WetLlama
I’m a mom and I worked in a nursery school. If a child can’t hold their pee for 3 hours then they are not fully potty trained and should be in a Pull Up for emergencies. I have bladder issues and wear a Poise pad when I go to disney. I don’t make excuses for a preventable problem. If we ever have to get out of line we go to the back and start over. S@%$ happens. And if it’s medical get DAS. Don’t line cut.
Scott (not the intolerant one above)
Screw it – after reading all this tripe from intolerants, I say pee your pants to the kids. Aim it wherever you need to. Don’t care.
Lolli
Disney should have call buttons along the line to summon an attendant for an emergency line hold, where you and the person behind you are given a temporary place card with a time limit.
Becci
It’s an easy fix have cast members hand out a pass to whomever needs to jump out of line. And they can return through the exit with pass and wait for their party to join them and ride together. Only 2 people per pass.
Joxua
That will cost the company more money so it’s Not happening
Liz
Life includes necessities and going to restroom is a part of life. People need to stop being so obnoxious. I had a similar situation except I let a group ahead of me first while waiting for my daughter. Luckily the attendant had seen what had transpired and backed me up.
Joxua
JMR
We used lightning lane once and it was because of me. My right knee has no cartilage so waiting for the newer Star Wars ride was a no-go. Knee isn’t considered bad enough for handicap status so had to pay for access.
Joe
Yes line jumpers suck when it comes to adults who want to catch up. Especially when it is a bunch. But if you have kids especially young kids you know they cannot hold it. Sometimes they have to go especially when lines are longer than 30 minutes. Dont be a$$H@&# to a mother and child when they had to go. Do you feel special making them cry?
Sally
I see nothing wrong with a parent needing to take a child to the restroom and then coming back to their place in line. That is not the same thing as line jumping since they were already in line to begin with.
In my opinion social media has bred a whole culture of next level rudeness. People think they can act and say whatever they want online because they are not interacting face to face with someone. Then they go out in public and have forgotten how to act like a human with manners and respect for one another.
Lilliana
Liliiana that so wrong we should all know that there needs to be patient and respectful to one other especially in disenyland whT are grown ups showing there young ones I feel this should have never happened I send my apologies to the mom. And her child that they had go threw that awful situation this should be that place of fansty where kids and grown up dreams come true what is this coming to shame o. All the group that put mom and child thew a horrible situation 😣
Jayne1955
Line jumping is a huge problem and should be dealt with accordingly, but I have to admit we were in the Toy Story area in a line for half an hour once and one of my grandsons insisted he needed to go pee. We told him he had to wait and he made it, but we were really worried about him.
Ryan
Every adult that was yelling a piece of s***. Bet you they wouldn’t of done that to a big dude and his son. Y’all adults are some clowns.

S Nogg
Tony
The REAL issue is at the bottom of my rant! 😅
-Just my opinion
Dan Hunter
Just who is it that is acting rude here? The supposed line jumpers or the insane, vocal morons?
I don’t care how large or noisy a group is, never ever submit to extortion!
Karen is Karen, and 50 Karen’s is still a Karen!
Elizabeth
JJ
BCM
Radiator springs racers is always a ride that has issues with line jumping when I went for gradnite I waited in line with my friend and there was a group that kept adding people into their group and they were very disrespectful my friend and I were so fed up with their behavior we got out. It was also disappointing because it was my friend’s first time at Disney it was so hectic that ride needs to be monitored a bit more.No body deserves to be booed like that lady and her son kids can’t hold it when you gotta go you go.
CHI
I see two problems here:
1) Disney fanatics is a type of disease, really, grow the F up and act civil
2) Americans are losing the compassion and becoming extremely selfish
Aaren
My dad would wait in line for an hour and a half so that us kids could do something else, then we’d meet up when he got closer. I don’t even see why people are mad. They’re just mad they didn’t think of it
Lily
Glad most families aren’t dishonest .Bet your family also claimed disability too to go in exits.
Jen
That’s also against the Disney rules.
Sam Mookerjee
People who can’t empathize with the need of a little child, should be banned from Disney Park.
Lonnie Dude
Treat others as you want to be treated. Is that so hard to do? I’ve seen some really long
lines that would challenge adults as well as children. To gang upon that family is just disgusting. The lines are so long anyway, letting in two people isn’t going to greatly increase your wait time.
Scott (not the intolerant one above)
The most common “line jump” I see is families getting separated 5 spots at the back of the line because of chaos at the entry. (Quite common on the lightning lane scanners). This is all making the proverbial mountain out of a molehill. I hope karma catches all of the intolerants here. Shocking really.
Jen
If you leave the line, you have to go to the end of the line when you return. That said, what those people did is not acceptable either. They should have talked to a cast member and let them handle it.
Alana

Brandon
JMR
Disney has a card they present for single riders at front of some high attention/wanted rides to measure line waits and for parent single-riders switch outs. They most likely have CMs at points in the line to keep order. Maybe employ same theory for bathroom situation? Get cards that specifically state “bathroom pass” for parent with a small child – under age 10. When they return they present the pass to CM at front who then excanges the pass for one which allows them entrance to single rider line. They then surrender that pass. Trying to think of way to keep it from being abused right now. 🤔
Melady
The Park needs to come up with ways to shorten the lines. They could have a max wait time for each attraction – say 30 minutes -and close the line when it reaches the max. Guests could then find another attraction whose line isn’t closed and come back to the former attraction. The park could, at the same time, announce wait times somehow on the attractions. For the not so cheap price of admission the park should do more to sole this dilemma.
Michael
Well if they were in line then a child had to go to the restroom he’s just a child under 10 do you want him to go dy himself and get lost or abducted. To the people that cheered shame on you.
Brandon

Elaine
Steve
His do you know what this was? This is literally a claim from the rule breaker herself about what happened. There is no reason for a rational person to trust a word of it.
Cecilia Ruiz
Things happen. If you need to temporarily get out of line for your child. Let others know if they will save their place. Usually people are decent with that.
Steve
Don’t they read the rules, if you leave you have to go to the end of the line no matter what the reason.
Tracey
There is a big difference between young teens and a small child. Totally understand if a little kid needs to go to the restroom! Young teens get very mouthie and have no respect for anything. I sure hope they were not kicked out. Shame on those people.
Brandon
Erin
So my take on this as a solo traveler is this: if I get out of line for any reason I get to the back of the line, I try to plan around my waiting but it can be a tough call. That said I see no issue for a guardian and a small child getting back in front of me, I get it and don’t get upset about it, it’s the large groups meeting up or the ones who went and did something else (another ride, shopping, etc) that get on my nerves. But that’s my opinion on the issue and I might grumbled a bit but I’m not going to start shouting because I’m there to have fun and that’s just a small hitch in my trip.
Laural Hofsommer
I think that it is rediculous the was people act today. There was no call for what happened to that mother & son. I hope Disney did right by them.
Mama S
Autimes
Thea Lamb
Daryl
Disney is pure evil , a bunch of pedophile people , trafficking children.. This place is sick
Stella
Anna
Mary
Sorry people are wrong. That was mean for them to do that, especially to a kid.
Brandon
Aaron
The real issue is the number of guests allowed into the park is too many. Disney needs to be better at managing crowds and not leave it up to us parents to self police everything
Cassie
Jayne D Evans
What’s with all the unkind words, that is whats wrong with todays society, some one who has been waiting in line has to pee, nature calls to all…be kind, be nice it may be YOU one day!!!!!
