We’ve been Disney loyalists for two decades now. It’s a huge part of our family tradition. We went right before the Covid shutdown and just returned this week.

Got home today. It broke our hearts. Six dollars for a bottle of coke is one thing, but the over-pricing for lightning lanes (that aren’t faster) and the constant nickel and diming, makes everyone in the park so unhappy.

It’s gone downhill big time. Here are my biggest complaints:

    1. Disney used to at least appear to care about the magic. It’s clear the priorities have gone to profits over people.

    2. The new reservation and park hopper rules leaves little room for error. Not being able to hop until 1pm sucks but we scheduled around it. We stayed at the Disney hotels ($$$$) to get in early, only to realize that every single California Adventure ride but two, we’re broken down. Mater’s cars and the swings. We were stuck there until 1pm! We couldn’t even hop over to Disney while they got it sorted out.

    3. Nearly every ride we went on, got shut down. The breakdown rumors are not exaggerated. It was depressing how often rides got stopped. This left people upset and staff upset.

    4. It’s clear the days of Disney for the “every man” are gone. I do not know how the average American family can afford a trip there. Costs continues to rise and quality sinks. I feel like parts of my childhood has died for greed.

    5. The lightning lane is a joke. Twenty dollars per person, per day, with only one pass per ride is hard. It has us bouncing around the park, which increases traffic jams. But the fact it doesn’t include the two most popular rides, really is gross. If you want to lightning lane Cars or Star Wars, it’s an extra $25 per person or $15 per person? Um, what are we paying the almost 200 a day for??

    6. The app is a good idea on theory, if it worked. I’m t was glitchy and the mobile ordering worked one day out of six.

Sorry for the rant but there was a time when Disney felt like they cared about the people that pay their bills. No more. We saved up for two years for this. It was pretty crummy.

We are finding a new family tradition.

    1. I am so sorry, my last visit broke my heart as well.
I decided to visit after my mother passed away.
I wanted to go experience some of the good times I had with my mother with my husband.
I was really upset so, we went back to the Polynesian. I think that I drank the contents of about 10 pineapples and cried quietly until I fell asleep.
All I wanted was to ride the People Mover with my husband like I used to do with my mom.😢

You took the words right out of my mouth. EXACTLY how I felt.

I spent over $10,000 for my last Disneyland vacation, we are going to lower our monthly trips to maybe 10 trips a year now.

I agree and already made a personal complaint to them directly. The major national parks started making reservations during prime visiting hours to minimize wait time in line just to get in and over crowding. If Disney wants to keep charging their exclusive rates then maybe they should make it a more exclusive experience.
I would much rather make a reservation and be able to ride all the rides without being rushed or not getting to ride any but 1 if your lucky!

Amazing people are still wasting their money. If you want change? Speak with your wallet and Don’t Go!

One commenter says they are dropping their trips to 10 a year? Seriously!!! Send Disney a message. O trips per year…

Otherwise, they won’t get it. Walt Disney died in 1996. The Parks died in 2020 when Chapek took over as CEO.

And it is going to get worse, I do not like this but I think the only way to get Disney turned around is a complete boycott of Disney. And I mean complete do not go to parks, do not buy Disney products anywhere, do not have Disney+ nothing. Then maybe there will be a complete shakeup in Disney starting at the top & going down to people who were for what is going on now, and last rid Disney of the Woke people who are also making things worse. And this is from a cousin to the Disney family!

  5. I started going to Disneyland back in1971. The Parks were immaculate.
They were being constantly cleaned. Cast members were sweeping the park as you walked around. Bathrooms were cleaned. The crowds back then were manageable, even during the holidays and most weekends.
I then started going to the parks off season, especially WDW to avoid the crowds. The last pleasant trip was in 2015, and it was in the beginning of March (off season)
Great time we had. Maybe 30 min wait for the “E” ticket rides. It rained a few days and no wait at all.
Come end of February, 2022, we went to WDW, during the Arts Festival. The Parks were a nightmare. The worst was the Magic Kingdom. People shoving there way through crowds, scoter’s running into people. The new system of Genie and lighting lane, did not work as well as you would imagine it to be while paying upwards of $50+ a day and having to take whatever time was available, and trying to keep the reservations for Disney Restaurants you made in advance months prior. Of course you can stand in LONG lines and wait for a ride, but it gets harder when you are a bit older to stand for such a long time. When we did get the Lightning lane, wait was about 20 min. This was an 8k trip. We decided not to go again to WDW unless something changes in the future.
We may try Disneyland too if the parks are not so crowded (even off season) in the next few years, again if things change for the better.
