Hopefully he reevaluates the moves made the last 2 years and maybe just maybe they can consider the customer in their decisions!!!

    1. D Allen

Hopefully he does not continue the trends he was on, he was cutting corners too! The New Fantasyland was not done as well as it should have been, he also allowed the “Woke Movement” to enter into the films and parks! Although better the Chapek and better for Disneys bottom line, the jury is still out, because someone has to take his place eventually?

      1. AH

He did not allow it, he actively brought it in. Chapek was choosen by Iger so yes in the short run it is better but in two years will Iger screw up again bringing another Chapek-like person in? You are right the jury is out.

      2. Jebus

Awwww, poor little bigot offended that he has to treat those icky colored people, women and gays with equality?

        1. Don B

          Jeebus, you’re ignorant

    2. Gary

What needs to happen now hopefully is get rid of any leadership Chapek put in that helped him push his agenda. Next get rid of the Woke agenda for good no sex what so ever. Do not get into politics at all. Get things back the way Walt had. Walt was the creative mind with the help of the Original Imagineers Walt was not that good at the financial end that is where Roy come in & Walt’s wife Lillian put in the female part all that did the job. No alcohol in the parks that Walt was very much against. Get the pricing back where it should be pronto. Have it back as a family friendly place that people loved to go. And last have leadership listen to the long time Imagineers that might still be there. And maybe some of the longtime Castmembers who left because they were fed up will come back to work. And maybe the ones who helped keep the rides going will come back to. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

      1. Vic

        🤣 America is woke, hater.

        1. T

          No, disgusted.

        2. Steve

Less than 1% of it. Just a 1% that is 10000% louder and more entitled than everyone else.

      2. Lol

        No alcohol???
I think you must be thinking of Holy land USA. Get outta here

        1. Clifton Brewer

That was actually the rule at Disney parks for many years. Even into the early 90s in my early military career I started collecting shot glasses from everywhere I’d go. Disneyland was the exception, and the closest I could get was a toothpick holder. There was only one place you could get alcohol there was their exclusive club that was just distinguished from other doors for cast members buy a number on the door. I don’t remember at the moment what it was called, but it doesn’t matter any longer regardless.

My point is just that for many years they purposefully fought the public opinion to selling alcohol to the public on premises.

      3. Liz

I believe Chapek was ruining Disney! Please Mr Iger, make Disney Magical again!

        1. Shorty

Totally agree!! Also, maybe we’ll get Disney Dining Plan back, price decreases on just about EVERYTHING, airport transportation to/from resorts, and saving jobs.

      4. Patti O

Gary, spot on man. Perfectly said. We were a Disney family for years until Chapek’s agenda pushing and ‘profit above all else’ mentality instead of the family friendly vision Walt created. Tweaks can be made as times change, not completely tearing down an institution.

    3. Liz

I believe Chapek was ruining Disney! Please Mr Iger, make Disney Magical again!

      1. Clifton Brewer

I’m all for capitalism and making sure shareholders/investors are taken care of. At the same time they have to remember the investment they’ve made into is a strictly a “Service” based business.

    4. Hillary Desmond-McNaughton

      We can only hope!

    5. Steve-O

Not a chance–I’m willing to bet money this was Ipek and the board’s plan all along. They knew they wanted to implement unpopular changes, so Iger steps down, they hire a ‘scapegoat’ and pay him a huge amount of money to basically be a jerk and cut costs all over the place, then bring Iger back for the stock bump. I’m willing to bet Iger changes very little of what’s happening at the parks.

  2. Joe PING

No it was time long ago for Bob to go

    1. Andrea

Never liked him. He made things bad for the workers and guests. Hopefully they will change things back to the way they were.

      1. David

        100 % right u r

        1. Dave Bayless

No No I disliked Bob chappak very much. He was very bad for the company and left huge stains and wounds with the Disney company which won’t go away for many years.

        2. Barbara

I’m glad Iger is replacing him and Bob needed to go. He tried, it did not work. It will interesting to see what happens now.

      2. Geoff

HEY CHAPEK,,,, NEED A BOX TO PACK YOUR THINGS IN AND LEAVE??? 😂😂😂. CHRISTMAS MIRACLE CAME EARLY FOR DISNEY FANS.

    2. DHC

Thank God Chapek is gone. While he was hand picked by Iger, he refused to take advice, listen to the public and worse than that, forgot Walt Disney’s purpose in creating Disneyland and Disney World.
Mr Iger, you have a lot of work to do in order to mend the fences torn down by the Chapek regime. Please be more careful in choosing a successor next time and try not to pick another egomaniac. Good Luck

  3. kathy atwood

Yessssss. Hope it’s real and Iger can restore the magic. Might even go back now. Can’t happen soon enough. Ba Bye

    1. Dave

Funny my wife and I just decided this afternoon to give up on Disney and not renew passes. Maybe now that the boob is being booted out they can get wdw back to caring about the guests and workers except how much of a bonus they can get at the end of the year.

  4. I hope he and Hasvbro will get back to listening to the Fans of Star Wars and start making toys that hgeyt on shelves in stores again, like itwhen they cared avbout the FAN BASE.

  5. WHAT TOOK SO LONG!!!!

  6. Ana

    Gives me hope

  7. Rick

    Welcome back
    Please restore the Magic.

  8. Thank goodness! This has taken way too long! Hopefully Disney can get some sort of its magic back.

  9. Jamie Coughlin

WTH? Iger is the one who made all the decisions that are now killing Disney’s bottom line! What a stupid move on the board’s part. I think Chapek just had enough of the idiots there and quit but to put the same guy back who ran the company in to the ground is stupidity of the highest sort. Chapek’s mistake was taking too long to clean house.

    1. Walt

EXACTLY!! Chapek was SHIZZLE but IGER was too. He started all this crap and walked away – I believe – the largest stock holder. Chapek sucks but Iger sucks too. They need new leadership dedicated to the Disney legacy and not just the bottom line and service. If he cleans house I might begin to believe. Stop pursuing profits and restore quality and family values. Walt never cared about the money side of things – he focused on entertainment and certainly did not pursue wokism alienating 50% of his audience.

      1. Jorm

They are a publicly traded company; Profits will always come first. And if anyone thinks they will lower prices they are delusional. How crowded do you want the parks to be?

        1. Clifton Brewer

True, but all the investors bought into a company that’s sole existence is “Service”. Whether that’s through movies, family parks, you name it. So while shareholders need to ensure thare investment is taken care of and grow, over time if you try to do it at the expense of service you stand to lose it all.

    2. Steve

People are clueless. Look at everyone hailing him as the second coming in these comments. Iger will finish Disney off.

If anything good can be gleaned from this, it is that the board realizes they have a serious problem. Maybe next time they will find a solution.

  10. Helene Anctil

I look at this as very positive for Disney.
Hopefully this is going to a positive change for cast members and everyone that had been loyal to Disney

  11. Kathy Hoffman

Our three generations of Florida “Platinum Plus” passholders are ready to renew those special passes. We’d already decided to not renew the Florida Pixie Dust (or whatever) pathetic passes. Fingers crossed that the Magic returns.

  12. Sue

Well now let’s see what happens if they get better or worse only time will
Tell. I know from going to the parks and living very close and having neighbors who work there things have gotten bad but let’s hope they get better for the employees and the people who visit and maybe they will start thinking about the Passholders agin and not only the ones staying at the hotels.

  13. Joe F

We can only hope the first thing he does is trash the entire Genie+ and bring back the old fast passes and stop charging extra to ride rides! Magic has been gone since 2020 and hopefully it comes back soon. As an annual pass holder I’ve been looking for something to keep me continuing when mine expire. Hopefully this is the start of bringing it back to what it once was.

  14. AB

    Thank GOD HALLELUJAH 🙏🏽

  15. Ed Marks

Now all Iger needs to do is to bring back free fast passes, include early/late entry for ALL hotel guests, get rid of park pass reservations, lower prices, increase food portions, have the Bright Line drop off guests on Disney property & get rid of the rules that slow down park hopping. If all or most of these changes are not made by Disney, then Universal will be cleaning Disney’s clock after their new park opens in a few years.

    1. R Platzke

Totally agree – looking at Universal now instead if Disney.. bring back the magic

  16. John S.

This is great news!! Hopefully since Iger oversaw the launch of Disney+, he can make improvements not just for streaming, but for the greater good for Disney Parks as well.

  17. Francene R.

Thank God, now maybe this company can get some respect back from it’s customer base. It was terrible to watch it fall apart.

  18. Zack

Hopefully he’ll start out by getting rid of Genie Plus and the pass system.

    1. Steve

Don’t hold your breath on it. Or the wokeness.

  19. MreBat

I will only go back when I know for sure the woke BS is 100% gone. Otherwise I won’t hold my breath. Iger put Disney down that path and Chapek sped up the decline. I’m in a wait and see mode

    1. Vic

🤣 bye bye. You will not be missed, hater. God bless 😉

      1. AH

You are spreading your hate with multiple posts.

      2. Steve

They already miss him. Why so you think the company is in panic mode?

Wokesters are loud, but few in number and poor. Pandering to people who have to beg the government to let them put of their debt is bad business.

  20. Paul W

Cautious optimism. Hoping things like the meal plan, magical express, annual passes, and the old fast pass system return. And most of all, resort delivery for purchases, which was perhaps my favorite part of the trip I took back in 2014! During my 9 day trip I often forgot at least some of what I bought, and every new pickup at the gift shop was like a mini-Christmas.

  21. Appalachian

    Yayyyyyy!

  22. Vic

An ex is an ex for a reason, in all things.

  23. wesley

Holy cow! Its a little early for a Christmas miracle but I will take it!

I’m shocked the board of directors finally saw that the company was headed in the wrong direction.

But I hope they have someone else in mind to takeover for Iger soon because he already left once. I can’t see him staying long term as CEO again.

    1. Anonymous

Nope. It was said somewhere that Iger will only be CEO for two years.

  24. My wife and I just crossed off Disney World from our vacation destination list for 2023. I woke her up to tell her this good news and we were back in for another trip to my favorite mouse! This is great news.

  25. Anonymous

Iger will only be CEO for two years. It was said so.

    1. Steve

I believe it. They think Iger will be a miracle worker and save the company, even though he is the cause of every problem they currently have. When the turnaround doesn’t materialize and the problems worsen next year, he will be on notice.

Maybe they should have hired an actual miracle worker, Eisner.

  26. Dan

I doubt anything is going to change with the parks. The company seems quite happy with them. And the parks are making money. Iger set in motion a lot of the things that Chapek eventually implemented with that side of things.

I am quite skeptical that anything is going to improve with the parks. Iger is being brought back to fix Disney+ and the studios. The board sees Disney+ and the recent box office disappointments as the reason the company is losing money and stock value…..not the parks.

    1. wesley

I’m sure the board has had an earful from investors lately. DIS stock is at levels it hasn’t been in years and I’m sure shareholders aren’t pleased. Which is a shame because the demand for higher quarterly profits all the time is what has led to the prices and cuts in service we see now in the parks.

    2. Steve

Yet Iger is the reason Disney+ is failing, because he hired and enabled the woke mob in the company. They can’t produce anything worth watching and alienate customers with their blatant agendas.

  27. R Platzke

Hopefully the change will be for the good. Bring back the dining packages, change the making park reservations in advance etc. We love Disney but had crossed it off our list when so many of the previous perks were taken away – lets hope they come back!

  28. TAP

If we could just rewind at least to Eisners time it would be so much better. Disney left families out in the cold, and forgot all about children. Walt’s dream got tarnished a long time ago by corporate greed.😞
Now families can no longer afford to go, and too many don’t want to. It is going to take a lot of work to mend that bridge, alienating the church didn’t help. I went to Disney World when it first opened, for the 25th, and many times between, but not the 50th.

    1. Mike

I didnt know they had to cater to Christians in some special way. Maybe stay away from Disneyland and visit Jesusland USA OK?

      1. Mason

There was a Jesusland it was called the Holy Land experience it went out of business in 2020. Hey as a Christian I never went to it. If I want a Holy Land experience I would just go to the actual Holy Land. It got bought out by Trinity Broadcasting Network. Since it was $8,000,000 in debt. TBN did nothing with it. Which is why it went out of business.

  29. Trev

Very happy that Bob Iger is returning as CEO.

  30. Julian H

Lets hope this is true Chapek out, but surely it would be better for new blood not Iger.

  31. EMM

Not an Iger fan, but something had to be done about Chapek! Glad he’s been ousted and truly hope the Walt Disney magic returns to the parks for all; not just the rich!

  32. Rroe

Not sure why Disney even bothered with a Thank You to Bob Paycheck. Paycheck has ruined Disney and put the company light years behind. A welcome breath of fresh air to see a tried and proven CEO step back in.

  33. Tony from Virginia

Now that throws a wrench in my plans. I was placing my DVC up for sale next month, now I have to wait to see if Mr. Iger cleans house and gets ride of the rest of top management and brings back the magic. I wish him well

  34. Vk2469

I don’t expect pricing to change anytime soon, but maybe it’ll go back to pre-pandemic normality to a point. If they want control over crowds, fine, but pre-reservation system crowds didn’t bother us so much. The fact that we could be spontaneous in our decisions when we were down there, was the best part. Could decide on Monday night to go the next day, then wake up and say we’ll go Wednesday was the best part. I’ve heard that even the employees have to make reservations to go to the parks

  35. Joxua

    WooHoo!

  36. Lou

Chapek was the worst ever! He could care less about loyal Disney fans. every decision was bad. He was a con man and a ripoff artist! He screwed parents and children alike.

  37. Steve

Iger is as bad or worse than Chapek.

This whole saga was just a scheme to get people to accept anti-consumer practices at the parks. Chapek was a designated sacrifice. Iger will throw you a bone now, like adding chairs to quick service tables, and be hailed as the savior. The churn of woke garbage and price gouging will continue.

  38. Sandy

I hope they take in the families of all levels so they can enjoy the parks and the enjoyment of Disney it got lost in the past years bring the magic for everyone get rid of politics when you are on vacation you want to escape the everyday worries and relax for a time maybe in a few years I’ll return to Disney haven’t been in a few years you have a lot of undoing good luck

  39. Peggy

I am more than pleased that Iger will be back. bringing back dignity to Disney. Please reevaluate the situation of the alcohol at MK. Please bring back the full number of cast members . Bring back the sanity to the company. Hopefully get rid of those park passes. Under Iger you felt like you had value for your money spent.

  40. Euge

Does anybody else think that this was all set up before it even started? They used Chapek for all the nasty and unpopular actions and now he s the one to blame… Iger returns as a hero, everybody talks about “Satan Chapek”….but the job s done. Answers will be given along the next months . If nothing changes, then we ll know what was cleverly planned.

  41. Santa read my Christmas wish list!
Now bring back fastpass, all you can dining and middle class people to enjoy the parks too.

  42. Barbara Ann Horan

I wish Mr. Iger all the luck in the world. Besides that he’s gonna need lots of everything else to bring back the WDW we know so well.

  43. Frank

Good Riddance!! While Chapek likely maximized shareholder value, Disney’s rep took a hit, exposing Chapek as a pimp whoring Disney out for the most dollars. The reservation system, the non stop price increases , the expensive experiences is the fancy glitter for nothing of value. Chapek cashed out the Disney Magic which was their singular competitive advantage for more money which went against the mission and philosophy . Chapeks’ direction was not Magic which they could have used there in the C-suite and navigated the unprecedented positive environment without turning people off the Disney brand.

  44. Bert

He was just as good at Frump. Both disasters…

  45. Rebecca Miranda

Maybe we’ll get back to the real Disney….. which was magical

  46. Lynn

lets hope Iger puts things back like they were and get rid of the confusing, complicated Genie. Go back to the fast pass and three picks. Maybe magic come back too. Its a hope that iger can put a stop to all the fights.

  47. Penny Eli

Thank goodness! Over the last couple years quality of goods and value for the money has greatly decreased! We had just decided that this would be our last Disney vacation. Now we will see what happens with Iger back at it. The idea that by increasing the prices will decrease crowds is NOT what Walt had in mind.

  48. Tim

So, for those that say Iger is responsible for everything that is wrong, may be slightly correct. The thing that you are missing most of this was only implemented under Chapek. Now, does anyone know what Chapek was before his CEO title? He was President of Parks& Resorts and Consumer Products. So, most of the stuff bad was developed on Chapek and then when He became CEO, he green lighted it all. As his minions were in charge of everything there was no issue with implementing. Further he was hired during Eisner’s tenure to help market the Disney Home Entertainment division at the time. Which lead him to a postion in which he needed to leverage IPs for the company. Which is what he continued to do for the remainder of his tenure at Disney. Some good but mostly bad decisions and questionable at best results.

  49. Lisa

SWEET. Maybe he’ll bring back realistic prices at the parks and the complimentary Fastpasses.

  50. Elijah Abrams

YES!!!! Now halt the Splash Mountain retheme!

    1. Steve

Iger is the one who started it…
