  1. I’m all for it. Safety is often overlooked until it’s too late. While some have pointed out small bags can conceal weapons too, there is much less chance of allowing in the risks. Which is ultimately better (and safer) for everyone.

The ‘small bag’ policy has been in place in many venues (sports, concerts, etc.) for quite awhile now. The only thing they need to do here it to make the bag CLEAR. School children are often required to have clear bookbags. And don’t complain about having things that you don’t want others to see. Items in the bag that are ‘personal’ can be put in something that will conceal the contents and obviously small enough not to be a threat.

There are multiple places you can purchase these bags and they are not expensive. For men that don’t want to carry a “purse” they have backpack style bags.

Unfortunately, this policy is problematic for really anyone who has small children or a child with disabilities. It’s also not practical to run to your car whenever you need to get things. Yet another reason to avoid Six Flags.

The people that think this will actually make theme parks safer are the ones that think “gun free zones” protect them.

Six Flags Magic Mountain in California has had bag check and metal detectors for years. They also limited the size of the bags you could carry a while ago. Not sure why they waited this long to implement it at the other parks. If people want to complain about bag sizes, Knotts now only allows bags up to 6.5″ by 4.5″ by 2″ now. My meds won’t even fit in a bag that size.

do you know if Knotts has always been stricter than the rest of the parks under the Six Flags banner? And any idea why?
