On our last trip we were standing in line, not moving. My husband had his hand resting on the queue divider since we were just standing around. A women came up behind us, she was line jumping to catch up to her party. Rather than tap my husband or say “excuse me” she literally grabbed his arm and shoved it out of the way to get by him. He would have let her pass if she would have been cordial. We also had a family of SIX line jump on a different ride. My husband was so fed up that he didn’t let anyone else pass the rest of the trip, he was so annoyed. He hates Disney and was only there for us, so that took the cake for him. He would pretend not to hear them and block the way, forcing them to stay behind him. What’s actually funny about that, because he did that, the person stuck behind him would be texting who they were meeting and as the line moved, we would catch up to their party, who had stepped off to the side to wait for them to catch up. That’s how it should be.
We actually just had this happen twice yesterday. My husband doesn’t keep quite about it. We have used DAS before and it’s nice but lightening lane changes have been for the better: we were in and out in 20’minutes last night.
Some people need to read the rules. Line jumping is not allowed and if caught you are subject to ejection from the park. Some of the excuses are ridiculous. Go to the bathroom before you get in a long line. Need water to stay hydrated get it before you get into line. Wait to gather the rest of your group before you get in line. Now if you have a 6 year old that has a sudden urge, when leaving the line talk to CM to get a pee pee pass. Now if you have an issue due to a medical condition where you will need to get to a bathroom fast, get a DAS. Really folks, what is so hard about this? It will make everyone have a happier day. And if I am line cut I will certainly say something and tell them the rules. My favorite was when we were cut in a Fast Pass Lane by a family of five. I yelled at the father that it was his responsibility to keep his family together because he allowed his 6 year old to just to dart ahead as far as she could. Well from the look on the 6 year old’s face she was not in a good place. Probably ruined her day. Too bad.
My husband and myself experienced this alot on our vacation 3wks ago.
If one of your party needs to use the toilet then they should all leave the line together. Also don’t send half the party to get in line just so you can push in .
It’s so rude and bad mannered and that’s what is spoiling it for everyone else . Have some decency and do the right thing. The person who admitted to line jumping… shame on you you’re the reason Disney is going literally down the toilet. Also shame on Disney for allowing it to happen constantly.
Wrong. Disney is going down the toilet because they’re greedy. You are all focusing on linejumpers, but don’t attack the real problem. It’s Disney. Why should someone wait in line for 50 minutes, then leave to pee and then wait another 50? Do you really want to stand next to a screaming 4 year old because the asinine wait times? How about instead of bashing your fellow park goers, chastise the people who created this issue. They need to drastically cut park attendance. I don’t line cut, and if I am ahead, I ket people pass by while the rest catch up; but this issue is the result of disney packing far too many people into the parks. Period. End of story.
Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth. No way a line jumper will ruin that for me. If you need to jump just go ahead, I’m the guy with the gray 1956 Mickey tee (or on winter evenings a navy blue Goofy hoodie). In 60 years of visits the only thing I get upset about is being told it’s time to go home and forgetting where I parked.
Personally, I can see where there MAY be times when “line-jumping” is a “necessity”, like someone in a party needs to visit restroom — I’m not one to wait in a line more than 30 minutes, but I’ve seen lines that are HOURS long so allowances SHOULD be made. The problem being, how do you distinguish between those that have an “emergency” & those that are just line-jumping out of “convenience” because they can get away with it?
In a case like that, I believe that Disney could come up with a way to “legalize” returning to their party following an “emergency” situation like a restroom break, like issuing something similar to a “hall pass”.
Hmm…why would you care if someone in line ahead of you was saving a spot for 3 friends? How does that affect you? Do you also block some from merging onto a freeway?
Are you dense? That’s 3 extra people getting onto the ride before all the people behind them, that were in the line before them. You do realize each ride only holds so many, right? Splash Mountain logs hold 8. If three different groups do it with the same amount of people, that’s 9 people going before the rest. So an entire log that went to just the people that cut. People like you are why people take advantage of this situation. The entitled will always take advantage of the weak. Tell you what, next time you’re at the store, let three people go before you in line and see if your wait time increases, or stays the same.
Why should their time be any more valuable than mine while in the parks? If my group has to wait in line then so can everyone else. I’ve purposely blocked people from trying to go by me in the past and I will continue to do it in the future.
I’m against line jumping for almost all reasons and Disney is the worst about policing it. All I can say is if you don’t want to put up with the line jumpers’ crap, you have to pay Disney more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to get lightning lanes. People usually don’t line jump in those.
Anyone who has ever been at WDW and dealt with groups from Brazil will know exactly how annoying this is. Last time we were at the parks we had them try to push through us in at least 4 different lines. One person joins the queue holding a flag and then several minutes later a group of at least 15-20 will try and meet them in line. Ugh. And the CMs would never do anything about it even when it was clearly happening right in front of them.
The Disneyland environment is becoming less and less family friendly. No one is saying straight up line jumpers are ever in the right, but when there are kids involved, you’d never be able to make it on a ride if you were expected to start your wait all over each time someone had to pee. Anyone who thinks you should is either delusional or self-centered.
Family of 5 here. Last trip, we wanted to get on Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark. Showed up 30min before the queue opened to find people already lining up. No biggie. But my 4yr old was/is understandably terrified of the ride, so the plan was to get a ride swap and she and I would wait elsewhere while the other 3 went on. Except, according to the cast members, SHE (and I) had to wait in line, too, in order to get the ride swap pass just before boarding the ride. So, all 5 of us were forced into in a 90min line. Understandably, I had to exit the line with my daughter on 2 occasions and bring her back. People gave us looks for “line jumping” both times. We weren’t even getting on the ride! I could understand if one person has entered the line and then an hour later, 4 more people showed up. But all 5 of us entered, then like 20min later, 2 of us exited and then returned. And the same like 45min after that. And 3 people were left waiting in line during that time (not to mention – again – that she and I weren’t even in line to ride!).
Kind of off topic, but to top things off, when we finally got to the indoor entrance (90min later), they STILL refused to provide a ride swap and said she had to go all the way inside. They continued to push us father and father into the experience as her anxiety grew, despite my insistence that it needed to stop. We ended up just leaving the ride after waiting 90+min for no reason. Long story short – I’m pretty sure she has PTSD now from the whole experience. (We walked near the OUTSIDE of the ride the following day and she immediately started screaming and shaking.)
As for having someone hold a spot for someone else, you have to think logically about how it applies to the ride. For instance – haunted mansion. If an odd number of people are waiting and 1 more person joins them, it is not going to take a seat away from someone else down the line. The number of doom buggies for that party has not changed. The same idea goes for rides like snow white, peter pan, Pinocchio, etc., where they don’t mingle different groups/families. Or like Pixar Pal Around if you have a group of 4 and then 1 or 2 more join… Or even splash mountain if you have 5 in line and one more joins you (for the double back seat). You get the idea.
Bottom line, people who outright cut have no excuse and should be reprimanded. But otherwise, stop being so cynical and give people the benefit of the doubt. If it’s not going to affect you, why make a big deal out of it at all? There just isn’t enough common courtesy in the world today.
