It looks to me that Disney, did not put a limit on how many items you can purchase or worse did not enforce it if they had, so these people took advantage of it.

This may seem unfair, but these people (entrepreneurs you could say) were able to do it via greedy Disney, then they have done no wrong. Like Disney they want to make money.

Rest assured they paid full retail. It IS Disney after all. One wonders if the claim of it being sold at park prices simply includes the cost of a ticket to the park? Also, why not book at the hotel and ask for the items to be sent to their room? That’s always been a selling point for booking a room at Disney Park Resorts.

      1. Betsy

Actually they’re using there annualpass discount of 20%, it’s even so bad different resellers place orders that are kept aside. The selling price is indeed 249€, but with there discount they still gain 50€ a piece. Some bought 50 pieces at once!

It still doesn’t make it right though does it? No thought for other people, then again, it’s the selfish world we live in these days x

Well, what do you think Disney has been doing with all you, ripping you all off with pike high prices and you all fall for it. If it’s not resellers, it’s the useless Genie Pass that, after paying over 200$$ entry fee, it doesn’t work, then they have the audacity to charge you even more for the popular long lines rides… what do you guys all expect from Disney? They just want your money. They don’t care if you have a magical wonderful time or not.

Disney and Disneyland Paris is doing what they can. However, French law prohibitis companies like Disney to put a limit on the number of items an individual can buy or to register how many items were bought with the Annual Pass discount.
So no matter what Disney tries, the resellers have the law in France on their side.

This has got to stop!! I saw it firsthand, as I was in magic kingdom on the day of the 50th anniversary. It was worse than Walmart on Black Friday! Disney has an obligation to do something- to make sure the ordinary person on vacation is able to buy souvenirs!!!

  3. Shawn

This will never stop. Disney could care less where their money comes from, if it’s 1 person buying 100 items of something, or 100 people buying 1 item each, in the end, Disney gets paid. Why would they care?
As long as people continue to give their hard earned money to the Woke and perverted Disney machine, things will never change.

How about unless you have a license to sell Disney mech. (Is it copyrighted)… you aren’t getting anything over a set limit. If people get in trouble for painting Disney characters on school walls then why not this! And I think you are scum price gouging people and those that pay it are just as stupid!

    1. LibsWearBibs

Cry me a river. And learn what copyright laws are while you are at it.

    2. LibsWearBibs

How about you learn what copyright laws are.

      1. Rm

She obviously does understand the law. A copyright doesn’t prohibit anyone from reselling.
It prohibits someone from producing their own goods. The OP and you look like fools.

        1. LibsWearBibs

Obviously she doesn’t since she flat out asks and then equates reselling already existing copyrighted Disney products on the secondary market (which is completely legal and has nothing to do with copyright or IP law) to school wall paintings. Learn to read before you call someone a “fool”, fool.

      2. Stephanie

Maybe people should stop buying Disney merchandise then there will be no issue of supply and demand.

  5. Allyoop

When you have an item like this, Disney should food the marketplace so they become worthless.

  6. Jenny

The buyers are what fuel the greed of resellers. Recently at the EPCOT 40th anniversary merch release, I couldn’t even buy a dang thing. I blame the buyers who are willing to pay these outrageous prices online.

  7. Cyndi

Is it possible for Disney to have a indelible stamp ” Not for Resale” on items? It can be done on clothing

    1. Not for resale does not apply to an individual selling the item. You will see ‘not for resale’ items at garage sales, yard sales and thrift stores.

As a Disney fan, I would never buy something I can get at the park outside of the park. I want my items bought at the park to remind me of my visit. Stick the resellers with their purchases by not buying the merch from them.

    1. Edward

In essence I would agree with you. However, some items simply sell too fast.
Disneyland Paris has a line of limited edition keys, which represent certain rides or shops. They are numbered and most of them limited at 1992 copies (the year Disneyland Paris opened). Some of the have a slightly higher number, like the key that was released for Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary, which has 2022 copies. Other have far less copies, like one of the two keys from Phantom Manor, which only has 999 copies (the number of happy haunts inside the house).
I happen to collect these keys and even though I’m at the park at least once a month these keys sell out on the day they are released. So unless I buy them from others, or friends happen to be in the park an the release date, my collection will never remain complete.
And similar problems are with other items as well.

I don’t know abkut Paris, but in the US, any cast member who gets caught reselling items in this fashion not only loses their job but is forever banned from all Disney properties. Also, it is not uncommon for the shopdisney site to limit purchases per customer. They also once had a “buying lottery” you could enter for highly anticipated items so people would not crash the site on release dates trying to get the item, I don’t know if that is done any more.l though.

    1. Glen

Not true. There is no lifetime ban for such. I’ve had the liberty of being present when they’ve been handing those notices.

    2. Alwyn

There are good ones out there. Reselling at Park prices and pocketing the annual subscription discount only. Unfortunately too many rotten apples

      1. Edward

True. However, I know of at least 11 “personal shoppers” who sell merchandise from Disneyland Paris at park prices. If all of them have 20 orders items still sell out pretty fast.

  10. Perfect example why Disney needs to make ALL its merch for sale on Disneyshop.com.Not every can afford to Go to a park but they might be able to buy the merch and I mean ALL brands under the Disney ownership I have seen some Star Wars toys that I would buy but unless you go to the park fans can’t get it.

  11. $561.00 and $650.00 is what 2 posts on eBay are going for. Both from the U.K. that’s a lot of profit if people pay that much. I am a reseller but I would not go in a clear the shelves like this. Karma will see to you. This is just sad.

Small correction to the article; The Phantom Manor statue actually costs €249.
That €129 pricetag belongs to a ‘Jack and Sally’ statue, as stated on the tag itself. They probably forgot to change it.

If Disney wanted to fix this, they would have already done so. Truth is Disney doesn’t care because they make money either way.

Easiest fix in world: Limit one item SKU per person, per day. Transaction is attached to guest’s admission ticket/band in the system so they cannot walk to another store on property and buy another. This also still allows a family of multiple children to all get the same thing if they desire, because they scan those kids’ individual admission passes.

    1. Edward

That might work in the US. In France this is prohibited by law.
