I’m rich unlike the minimum wage writers of this story and the poor ass people who read this. I’ll happily pay it.

    1. Rich,
I am very comfortable, but, not rich. Even if I was working for a minimum wage job. I would find a way to pay for my Husband and myself. I think that we are going to get unfavorable comments for this! Everything goes up in price. People can get angry because of the crowds, the costs, the extra charges for just about everything to make your experience a bit nicer. I hope that I used the correct word. I am a writer by trade. A CPA so I do understand money issues( numbers do not lie). I hope to see you there Rich.

      1. RM

I’m rich too. Retired, and a big Disney Park fan since I was nine years old. But are you and Rich Beetch serious? What about those families that aren’t rich? The ones that save for ten years to go to a Disney Park. Then all of a sudden the price gets jerked up on them before they go? Now they have to go from taking their kids to Be Our Guest to a fast service. Gawd! This is the kind of mentality that is dividing this world now a days. Feel blessed by what you can do that others may not be able to. Don’t feel superior. Don’t you think EVERYONE deserves to be able to experience the Disney life without taking out loans? Chapek has run Disney into the rich-man ground. 😡

    2. Barbara

I am not going Disney anymore. My poor family is happily attending Universal Studios parks.
No regrets. I love the Hard Rock and Portofino
Parks are friendlier it’s not a mission and definitely easy to go on a whim.

      1. James

Agreed, we only go to animal kingdom or universal. That’s it. No more Disney for us not worth the money anymore

        1. Tim

          Animal Kingdom is Disney.

    3. Val

Your last name is very suitable!

    4. Devvvers

Well Rich, coincidentally, your last name sounds similar to another word that accurately describes you. Family name? Or did you change it so that people know what to expect?

    5. Sadie

So minimum wage people shouldn’t be Abe to afford a trip to Disneyland?? What a smug and arrogant response.

    6. Dan

Got it. So you are someone who only thinks of themselves because you are rich. It won’t be long before the world eats your soul. Let’s hope it comes sooner than later

  2. Justene

As someone who visited in 08/22, I definitely think the $15 was worth it. But for them to be this money hungry is ridiculous. First meal plans were taken away and now this stupid tier stuff. How about we just leave it how it was? Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

    1. JoeBryant

Not having the meal plan is something that will put the brakes on any future planning for a trip to WDW. As I feel that was the big money saver that would allow me to use the other services mentioned in this article.

    2. I hear your concerns. You make some very good points. I have no idea how people with children can afford the meals alone. The meal plan was a big help for parents. I liked your comment because it was started out on a positive note. Then, you simply pointed out what was a real concern.

    3. James

We went in 21… it was amazing. There was literally a 3 minute wait at most… it took us longer to walk through the isle then wait in line. The benefits of a pandemic

  3. Dennis

I’m DVC and Annual Pass holds. I haven’t used Genie + or LL. Biggest money grab I have ever seen why do I want to wait the day of to plan my day at 7 am instead of enjoying my family at breakfast and getting ready to leave for the park

    1. Amy Fuccione

Absolutely! There is no enjoyment in these vacations anymore, it’s stressful right from the start…everyday.

      1. Winifred

Yes it is going 11/1 – 11/4. Taking the granddaughters Big difference in 2022 compared to 2017

    2. AM

We just spend 3 days in the Anaheim parks with Genie+. Felt like a waste especially the first 2 days. There’s nothing intuitive about it. We had it mostly figured out by the last day and we’re lucky if we managed to use it on 4 rides with the time constraints. Photo Pass was useless as every photo line was an hour wait or more, and that time was better spent waiting in lines for rides. Most the time the lightning lane passes only saved you 10 minutes because they were about as long as we stand by lines and merged so far back. At one point we had a lightning Lane for grizzly River run and stand by Lane was actually shorter than the entry point for lightning Lane. A complete waste, and if we had known that, maybe we could have used it on a different ride.

Anyway, will not be pre-purchasing it next time. Although is prices are going up it’ll probably be another 10 years till we go again. Makes me very sad that average people are being priced out, because I would love to take my kids every year, and go with just my husband on special occasions. But it’s just not feasible

    3. Jan

Walt is rolling over in his grave with the changes Paychak has made.. I refuse to spend more than the price of my admission ticket.. sad what Disney had become😢😢

      1. I HATE THAT SAYING

Repeat after me…. Walt cannot roll over in his grave, Walt was CREMATED. There is NO BODY.

        1. Ava

No he wasn’t, he’s in a cryogenic tank.

    4. CML

My feelings exactly! I’ve paid for the Genie+ and still could not get a slot for any of the rides because I got to the park a few minutes after it opened. They need to get rid of the money grab and go back to the fast passes.

  4. Amy Fuccione

I’m a DVC member and have been going to Disney every year for almost 20 years. The whole Genie and LL service is absolutely horrible!!! I am the vacation planner for my family so I spend every morning of my “vacation” waking up early to get online to purchase and book our LL passes. It takes any fun out of the day for me. Why can’t they follow Universals lead, you pay ONE price for a universal fast pass and there are no booking times. It is a much more enjoyable trip when you don’t have to spend the day with your face in your phone trying to book Lightning passes.

    1. Jimmy

That’s another negative. As an adult vacationing at Disney, you literally need your phone for pretty much everything.

  5. Mario

The price increases on Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lanes (ILL)are a joke.

We had a group of 6 at Disneyland where the price of BOTH Genie+ and the ILL for Rise of the Resistance were increased to $25.00 per person.

An extra $300 on top of paid admission? I don’t think so.

So long as people are willing to pay it, Disney will continue this nickel and dime upcharge mentality until they price out the middle class.

    1. Amanda

There is no middle class. Only Rich and Poor

  6. Robert

Thanks for your input, Mr Chapek.

    Hasswipe.

  7. Robert

Thanks for your input, Mr Chapek.

    Fartwat.

  8. Diana

I miss being able to have all expenses paid for before coming to the park. All the added stress (now having to buy Disney genie daily) and making sure you can arrive to the park in time for your first ride/appt. What if buses are full? I miss being on vacation where everyone you meet is happy.

    1. Kim

We missed several reservations (one being a reserved character breakfast 🤬) due to the skyline stopping on off and on for approximately 45 minutes! AND I paid for the Genie+ months ago and we still couldn’t get on the rides my granddaughter wanted to ride, last here and we finally got a LL for Frozen and just a few minutes before our turn they closed it down 🤬 Needless to say we won’t be back because I’m too old for the stress and I enjoy Universal Studios much more

  9. Angela

While some can afford these additional expenses, many others cannot. When they make it nearly impossible (at peak times) to ride even a handful of rides, without Genie+, it’s no longer “optional”. Some families save up for several years to be able to come to Disney, now with increased hotel prices ($200+ per night for a value resort) food, lack of a dining plan, additional parking costs…… some will be priced out. Walt’s fusion was that families from all price points, could come to the Disney parks.

    1. Angela

      *vision*

  10. I’ve only used genie+ once and got a refund. It was an unusal circumstance and don’t wish it on anybody. We had genie+ at Studios. My family didn’t want to pay for Rise of the Resistance, so we jumped in line. The wait time posted was one hour, not bad for Rise. The ride broke down 3 times while we were in line. My family refused to leave the line. They were of the dilusion if we waited 15 more minutes we would be getting on. We were in the area with the storm troopers for a long time. Great pictures. Posted a video on tik tok about the disgust of wasting 5 hours of our day on this attraction. After actually riding Rise, I went to customer service to cancel the genie+ and get our money back because we only secured one attraction after rise (the rest were gone) and we didn’t use it because we were still trapped on rise. I recommend if you want to buy genie+ for studios buy the Rise pass as well.

  11. Diane

Here’s the deal, people. Whether you’re rich or not, as long as people keep paying for lightning Lane and genie plus Chapek will continue to keep increasing the costs. If everyone stopped using genie plus and lightning lane it would end pretty quickly. Remember, to Chapek it’s not about the experience it’s about the money.

  12. Diane

The real solution to this unhappiness about the new system is simply a boycott Of genie plus and lightning Lane. When shall we start?

    1. Boycott of Disney

  13. I used to pay a fourth of a share at The Fort Wilderness Campgrounds but, we stayed in a cabin. Us girls payed less than 300$ per night. Now, the prices start at 488$+tax-800$+tax per night. We use the 10% rule. Every 2 weeks we put aside that 10%. It doesn’t always work out that way. Our grocery bill is humongous for just 2 people! I do not know how parents do this. Yes, the prices have changed. You get charged for things that we used to get for free. The crowds can be overwhelming for parents with children. I have seen it everytime we go. The prices for a treat per child can really blow your budget. Forget about bringing home souvenirs! They are way too much. Dooney and Burke are designing Disney purses and wallets? That a lone is a joke. 75$ for a plush purple Figment carry all. That’s also ridiculous and the little ones do not understand about money. Parents exhausted from running around. I give all of the parents so much respect!

  14. Adam

OK, hear me out. We’re assuming that G+ & LL are here to stay and FP isn’t coming back anytime soon. So how about this? Instead of booking your LL at 7am and getting stressed over breakfast, allow guests to book 2 or 3 LLs 2 or 3 months in advance when booking the park tickets. If Disney roughly know how many guests will attend on any given day in the calendar, they’ll know roughly what to charge for LL 2 or 3 months in advance. If RoR looks like it’s getting too full on a given day, the LL can go up this discouraging people from signing up for it. Disney will still get its LL fee but 2 months earlier.

  15. If people would just stop going for a year it would teach Disney a lesson they need to learn about greed.

    1. What a disgusting braggart you are.

  16. Kim Pocchio

It’s crazy to pay a for all the extras. If people continue to pay for the extras they will never get rid of them.

  17. Someone start a worldwide boycott of everything anything related to Disney!!! We have the power in the numbers. Disney is no longer a vacation it is now total stress and no fun!

  18. Pat

Everyone is complaining about all the price increase, you can do 1 of 2 things. Either stop going or get use to it. Do I like all the increases NO, but as others have said people are paying for it so this will not go away. We have stopped doing parks everyday now, just a few days.. We enjoy the resort, we resort hop too. We go and buy groceries (DVC here) and make breakfast and lunch in room, As for the DDP, they are making money as people are paying full prices, not all restaurants are open yet, 50th anniversary and they are still short staff. Disney knows even if they lost one customer there are 2 to take their place. Now instead of doing Disney 2-3 times a year, we are enjoying other place to go and just making a yearly trip.

  19. Peter P.

There are so so many adults that refused to ever grow up. It’s like they are in a perpetual Neverland. I hope the prices get so high that these “adults” go broke someday acting like little children. I would make the prices $1000.00 per person per day for these parks. These Neverlanders would still go. Guaranteed. Keep jacking up everything Disney. You KNOW you will get it.

Everything is getting complicated. The magic no longer exists. It’s just a glorified theme park now. There was a time the grounds were cared for now rides are dirty and filthy. Bathrooms at 8:10AM are gross. Many not cleaned throughout the day. Workers appearing to be working in them but not “cleaning” properly. Photos at end of day prices are “tiered” and confusing and their print out of pics do not compare to what they show you as far as quality. I’m a pass holder but one of my daughters and friend is not so they had to pay for ticket. We went yesterday for bridal bachelorette Disney day. 8 if my 9 daughters were there but due to a “sold out reservation” my other daughter could not purchase a ticket. 6 of them being with my pass holders and only 3 who are now adults needing tickets two got one and one didn’t. So one daughter and sister were left out of what should have been a fun family event. Yet the entire day the most we waited in line was 20 min. I attend Magic Kingdom often and the crowd was that of a January crowd. You know, after all the holidays and cold months when crowds are down. So those “sold out” reservations was a joke and so sad my daughter could not celebrate her sisters wedding with the rest of her sisters. Disney just keeps disappointing. And they do not carry larger sizes in clothing either. Let’s face it magic kingdom no longer holds the magic.

  21. Ro

This reminds me of when Walt Disney World first opened in 1972. You had to purchase ride tickets. They were also tiered where rides were ranked and you paid more for the most popular onesr. It was crazy then and so much worse now! I’m a FL resident and no matter how much I want to see things, you couldn’t pay me to go to any of the parks or resorts!

    1. Tim

Yes but in 1972 the cost of entrance was 3.75 today dollars that would be about 25 today. The ride tickets were 5.75 for an eleven attraction ticket book in today’s dollars that would equate to about 30 today. So it should cost $55 per day total. This is based on inflation. I would even accept $75 but not the prices now and then charge more on top of that.

  22. Jayne1955

Lightning Lane is a disaster and I want the dining plan back. I’m a stockholder and I still am not planning to go this year. I’ll go to Universal.

  23. Linda Inman

I was a single Mom resident of Florida. I started taking my kids to Disney World from the time my son was 6 months old. Looking at the prices now based on what a nurse’s salary is today I would no longer have that luxury of popping up to Disney ever few months for a weekend. Even at a once in a 3 or4 year vacation things like the lightning lane would be out of my reach. I think Disney has decided to just pander to incomes with 6 figures. The rest of us are left on the outside looking in.

  24. It is interesting that 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is ILL only… we were there May20-28 2022 (saved for 2+ years) and it was LL and Stand by then….

    1. Dawn

It’s Stand By as well, they are referring to not having the added charge on top of the cost of Genie+. It’s on the same level as an added charge for Rise.

  25. Melissa C

I think that there should be help for some families that cannot afford surcharges to get on the “good” rides. Remember this is supposed to be for kids.

    1. Peter P.

You would think its for kids….Unfortunately, kids are a huge minority at Disney. It is FILLED with grown adults who never were able to really grow up and be something respectable with their lives. Instead, They are grown children, in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, who obsess about all things Disney 24-7….Because in their warped minds, Mickey is real to them….Their is your problem in a nutshell.

  26. Quark

The world is on the verge of nuclear war and this is America’s priorities. Smh

    1. Deb

      🤦

  27. Val

Disney (Chapek) is on the path to pricing out everyday families to cater to the wealthy. And wealthy people shouldn’t run it in our faces, because if everyone could afford this, there wouldn’t be wealthy people who think they’re better than everyone, we’d all be the same.

Just build another park already to ease the crowd attendance, it’s not like Disney can’t afford it!

  28. Dale Hatfield

Just left Disney today and to be honest, I found the lightening lane and Genie + to be fine. Rode all the rides we wanted to and did not have to wait forever. I am waiting for the article detailing how “Woke” Disney makes guests pay adult rates for dining experiences if your child is 10 years old or older. Last I checked, my 10 year old daughter still eats kids sized portions.

    1. Tim

It has been that way for a very long time.

  29. Carol

We are comfortably retired and can afford the trips, but there comes a time when we have to say “when is enough, enough?” As long as people accept it and continue to purchase it, Disney will do nothing about it. They are really pricing out the hardworking families. The only way to change something is to boycott the changes, but I don’t ever see that happening.

    1. Deb

I’m in! So agree. And it’s so sad for us.

  30. Grumpa

Doesn’t matter, the LL is a failed system. This just a last ditch effort to make it work. It won’t. Pretty soon RC is going to have to pay his shareholders. He thinks raising prices increases income…Wrong… Faithful customers do. We’ll have to give him the Eisner treatment.

  31. Deb

I will never return to my happy place because of this last trip on 9/11. Not only was I nickled and dimed for everything (and I paid it!), but it was the opposite of pixie dust I experienced before! People are stopping in front of you in major walkways to make sure they get the next ride booked, food wasn’t what it was but paid more, and some employees (NOT ALL) were beyond charming to put it lightly. I left WDW not feeling exhausted and starting to plan the next trip, but said goodbye…I’m done. Spent just over $3000 for four days at the parks and felt robbed. Wrote a letter praising those folks I loved and were so good, and named those that stood out as so bad. Told them my concerns and they wrote back a week later and said sorry, we always strive for perfection. Didn’t comment on any of my points…do e with WDW. I may say goodbye to Disneyland before I say never again. I’m 59, Disney addict DISNEY OF THE OLD…my mom sang at Carnation Gardens in the 60s, so I was raised at DL. It was my happy place but always preferred WDW because of the other parks. SOOOOO sad.

  32. Daniel

Don’t understand why y’all still go to Disney to be honest. Haven’t been in years. Even if you are well-to-do, and the high prices don’t make you flinch, the ‘system’ is wayyyy to complicated, requires wayyyy too much planning and constant tweaking, and they have no rides / experiences for thrill seekers. Its a place for foodies, and small children, and there are better options for both. You do you. My family prefers Universal by a country mile, even with the small kids.

Only this site can take one Reddit thread upvoted 100 times and make an article from it lmao.

People on Reddit DO NOT REPRESENT THE MAJORITY. There’s 100 comments on that post and thousands of people go to Disney DAILY.

Y’all need to stop projecting such negativity on this site and STAY OFF REDDIT! Other people’s comments should not be your source of news! Here’s a tip, post actual news?
