Sounds like they are importing some of the animals we have seen at Knott’s Berry Farm out to Florida. What a shame.

Unfortunately, Universal is located close enough to the seedy parts of Orlando that hood rats on welfare frequently show up before getting banned.

Steve, yep pretty much describes them. ALWAYS THE SAME DESCRIPTION.

It’s just another example of bad behavior In general, worse since Covid shutdowns ended. There’s always rude people but seems to have grown out of proportion. Vandalism of theme parks, national parks, monuments & historical places is sad. It doesn’t appear humans have evolved much.

“My wife’s up there” or “My group is waiting for me” or “My parents are up there” seemed most common at our recent visit. Make it a rule that, if you have to skip more than X parties from the end of the line to get to your group, you forfeit your place in line. Station a park employee at that point to stop them and let park employees know if someone violates the rule. Had a middle aged guy dragging his two 10-12 year old kids thorough the line of Hagrid’s Motor Bike Adventure saying his wife was waiting for him. Went all the way to the front of the line and no, nobody was waiting. What message did that send to the kids?

While we have yet to experience ANY line jumping at Universal, almost 20 years ago at Disney World we were accosted by a small group of male teens who menaced anyone who didn’t get out of their way immediately. My husband and two girls, aged 6&7 then were just wanting to let them pass but I saw them coming, notified the Cast Members (who did nothing because they were spinless wusses) and stood my ground. I had two metal forearm crutches to block them and a hot, tired, ticked off Mom voice and attitude to let them know that this slender, 6ft tall redhead wasn’t going to put up with this garbage. When I stood up to them, the Cast Members looked elsewhere, MY Beloved guarded our girls and the people whom they’d already pushed past stood to one side to let them out quickly. I know that they left the last area before boarding Space Mountain rather quickly and towards the exit but, even though Disney security had video proof of their deeds and had us as complaining witnesses (as well as another family who was directly in front of us) we never heard of anything they MIGHT have done to follow up. Other than our niece’s elaborate Disney wedding a few months later, we have not returned and to be honest, we looked for ways to CANCEL the wedding and change venue but were unable to do so without SUBSTANTIAL cost. The block of 40 rooms, Grand Floridian nuptials and reception package were something WE had suggested since we had lived in Orlando and had Florida Residents passes for several years prior to her wedding.

We have warned friends/acquaintances about Disney World’s neglect to protect them from thugs, their anti-family attitude and generally lousy customer service and it’s only gotten worse! I bet old Walt would have a heart attack if he saw HELF of what’s happened to his empire! We live near Washington DC currently, the kids are grown and we have several grandchildren but we will NEVER take them to any Disney property, we don’t see their films & have even sold the stock we had relating to their motion pictures. We HAVE been to Universal and stayed on site in several of their nicest hotels (as well as a 10 day stay at the Adventura because the kids wanted to try it.)

We aren’t wealthy or “special” in any worldly way, we don’t have exorbitant vacations or throw money away foolishly. We’re just a normal, Christian family and plan for good, clean family fun. Since the family has grown,
we book more rooms and spend a bit more money than before and since Disney has become a place that is diametrically opposed to all that we are and values that we stand for. Theme parks are supposed to be a fun and safe environment for those attending NOT a political statement. I don’t care what other people do unless it impacts us directly, others behavior is between them and the Lord, I have enough to worry about. That said, Disney is trying to shove things down the necks of families! Things that kids SHOULDN’T have to deal with. I first went to Disneyland when I was still in a stroller shortly after it originally opened and have been in one park or another well over a thousand times, REALLY. We were blessed with children a bit later than most and always hoped to share it with them throughout their childhoods and young married lives but it’s impossible now.

Sorry this is so lengthy. I need to stop now because I initially got online to set up another stay at Universal. Beloved and I are going to spend yet another anniversary, just us, at either the Lowe’s Pacific or the Portofino Bay Resorts again. Both are great, treat us like royalty and generally pamper us every time we visit. They remember our names and greet us when it’s a special occasion and they always have suggestions for a new experience. Disney never even said hello unless they wanted more money.

What an awesome writeup! Thank you for sharing. What you experienced is exactly why we stopped going to Disney and are now focusing on Universal, Busch Gardens, and ZooTampa as well as other venues. Central Florida has a lot to offer. I agree that Walt would have a heart attack at what these idiots did to his dream. He wanted a place where children can have safe fun and everyone, regardless of age, can be young again. I remember the DisneyWorld with my first visit in 1979. EPCOT was under construction and I fell in love with Magic Kingdom. Next visit I marveled at EPCOT and they just broke ground for MGM Studios. In the late 80s, I took my son when he was 4. Always had a wonderful time and the cast members were amazing. Sadly it’s gone downhill. What they’re pushing on kids is just criminal. Again, thank you for sharing.
