Wonder Man has always been one of my favorite Marvel Comics heroes. Regardless of the actor’s race, it will be FANTASTIC to see Wonder Man come to life.

    1. Mikaeli

Thank you this race swap has nothing to do with it. Stop having g a problem with a person of color taking on a role. All over the comic universe actors are switching and taking others or new roles, you don’t say race swap then? So what’s the problem. He just got the role! He must be good at what he does as an actor who happens to Black. Stop the bullying its not necessary to write a good interesting article. I think it’s great, they need to get people who can act and look the part. It’s comic dude not race!

      1. Gene

Race swapping just give them an easy out when its terrible so they can just deflect actual criticism and blame low ratings on the swap

        1. Ranger

Give me one example of any TV or Movie that had low ratings and blamed it on race swapping? Lol this is the most ridiculous comment I’ve ever read

          1. Jps

Are u kidding? So out of the loop u haven’t been hearing actors & directors insulting their audience non-stop lately? How about look it up. They continuously use race or gender as the reason to dismiss criticisms of the film.

          2. Mikal

The honeymooners,24 reboot (even though it was a new character) interview with a vampire….ect.

      2. Drake Pendragon

You mean stealing a role because they can’t make it without stealing.

    2. Suez

With his clown comment, I’d never use him again. Shows he’s ungrateful and arrogant and undeserving of any roles.

      1. Jajuan

Why did you find it necessary to draw attention to the actors being different in race from how the character was drawn in the comics? Why is that even an issue? How about you stop being so blatant in trying to stir up and insert controversy where there isnt any.

        1. Drake Pendragon

Because if they made Luke Cage or Storm white you would call it white washing and cry and riot. It is an issue because they keep stealing characters and race swapping them rather than using actually black characters like Mosaic or Bishop.

  2. Robert

Wonder Man is supposed to be a good looking pretty boy with super powers! I’m apposed to the race change. All this woke BS. Leave our comic charters the same sex and race!

    1. Schnarf

      Amen!

      1. Bond, James Bond

People, can you even begin to imagine how many positive and much more important problems that could be addressed and maybe even begin to change if only this type of passion were to be applied to?? Issues such as the lack of basic living necessities, education reform, healthcare reform, women’s rights over their own bodies, etc!!

There are people all over the world (not just one region) that need to just hear that people are as compassionate & caring about real world issues as they are about… MADE UP, NOT IMPORTANT COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS!!

It is so very terrifying to know that a made up characters race, gender, sexual orientation is more important than the real issues.

        1. Jps

Women have rights over their own bodies. No 1 has taken consent from any women in Western nations. If ur talking about some states being able to restrict them murdering the babies they consented to created, ur ridiculous. & this is all connected to those issues, as society breaks down & its priorities are so displaced. The reforms u speak of will never happen with ideology that is behind this race swapping. It will & has only gotten worse. The states which abide by that ideology, the cities cause poor education & destroy their citizens, including the abortion industry that u support. Ur a contradiction

          1. Snake

The poorest and most uneducated states are those run by right-wing extremists aka “red states”.
Just state that change scares you. I’m sure it must be scary when you don’t understand and can’t comprehend modern society.

        2. Dalton

If it’s not important why make the switch? Why not keep it the same since the film adaptation of the material has never been made. That street you’re trying to throw stones down goes both ways.

    2. K2

You know there’s tons of comic book characters in live action that are race swapped right?

    3. Lorrelle

“apposed” and “charters”. Yeahhhh I can’t take you seriously.

    4. I totally agree!

    5. P A

Perhaps your time will be better used learning how to spell, rather than using it to read comic books.

    6. Mikal

So, he couldn’t be a good looking pretty boy if he’s black? Who do you think their speaking of when the term “Tall , dark and handsome?

    7. Snake

Call us when you are able to spell “opposed” . . . otherwise . . . CRY HARDER.

    8. Reese

      Agree

  3. Daniel Sauter

If he thinks what he was doing was clown work, wait until he works for Disney. Probably end up being a trans hero. That would make people wonder

    1. drbopperthp

      Incel alert.

      1. Alex

Do you know what incel means?

        1. Snake

involuntarily celibate . . . like no woman or man wants to have anything to do with them romantically. They can’t “get laid” like everyone else. I guess that kind of rejection would make anyone a sad AF woman hating cretin. What these incels fail to understand is that they created their own situation.

    2. K2

And how many trans characters has Disney displayed in their movies?

  4. Schnarf

I am so sick of all this race and sex swapping in films. Wonder man is white. You want to make a film of a black super hero, great! Do it! Black panther was awesome. If you can’t find a black super hero you like then make a new hero. Stop taking old super heroes that people grew up with and changing their race, sex or sexual orientation. People like wonder man as is stop trying to change him. How would people feel if we cast a Asian man as Harriet Tubman in a film about the underground railroad? Enough!

    1. Jackie

Got its so beautiful watching awful human beings (repubs) such as yourself frothing at the mouth with anger and using the term woke as if it makes you sound intelligent lol. And it’s even better knowing that the ratio of bigots to normal people is getting smaller and smaller as the years go by. The world passed you by and most of us don’t care about you. I’m not even political in any way and I still know that your side and your use of the word woke is pretty cringe.

      1. Bert

        Good post Jackie.

      2. Giin

About as cringe as someone declaring half the nation to be angry, unintelligent, awful people.

The fringe left coined the term “woke” to describe themselves. The right then started using it to describe them by their chosen term. Who are more cringe, the ones who coined the term or the ones agreeing to use it?

        1. drbopperthp

Half??? LOL!!! Don’t flatter your flatheaded self son. Your kkklown Kar holds maybe 33% of the (all-wyte) populace captive in its back seat and trunk.

      3. Gil

Really? Talk about judgemental! You honestly show your “holier than thou” attitude with your response. Also your ignorance.

      4. Alex

What are you babbling about? You are clearly politically motivated “repubs”. You used it in the first sentence. Not to mention, stereotyping. You are a walking hypocrisy. Trust that they world isn’t changing. And your kind still don’t understand what a bigot is. Changing a characters race, creed, sexuality, or gender to appease you loud ass cry babies is absurd.

    2. Lorrelle

Harriet Tubman was a real PERSON, not a fictional CHARACTER.

      1. Gene

Yea.. I bet no one would be posting these types of comments if the next black panther was white or asian

    3. Elton the shelf

Which Asian man would you select to play Harriet Tubman? James Hong or Daniel Dae Kim? Can we differentiate between real people and comic book characters? Just asking for a friend.

      1. Evilash

No she was older Jet Lee would be better. I can see it now.
This holiday season get ready as Harriet Tubman fights back in Underground Railroad. Fist comes through the title as it breaks away and there is a real train and the fighting all takes place as a future alien race tries to enslave earth.
Soinds like Hollywood has another hit movie.

      2. Paul

Sounds like you rather stay asleep.

By the way, being woke is not the derogatory.

    4. Nadia

VERY WELL SAID! I agree with you 100%. Enough of this nonsense!

    5. Paul

Sounds like you rather stay asleep.

By the way, being woke is not the derogatory.

    6. Vivi

A-freaking-men!!! I’ve been saying this since the MCU/Disney started with this mess. Would I love to see another black superhero movie like Black Panther? Absolutely! But one that ALREADY exists in the comics, not one that was swapped because people “feel” they’re not being represented enough. I personally dislike the fact that Marvel changed Namor’s origin story and I’m Mexican. Like you, I would rather have them create a brand new superhero who happens to be Hispanic and not be swapped for an existing one, taking away from their original story. This makes me upset and I’m not even a comic book reader.

  5. It’s all creativity!! Get real so it’s ok to play Indians, Egyptians, Karate and Kung Fu people. Know it’s a problem 😂😂😂

  6. K2

Damn a lot of you snowflakes in this comment section need to grow a pair and stop crying about someone getting a role that may not look the part from the damn comic. As long as race isn’t an essential core aspect of the character it doesn’t need to be followed.

    1. Gil

Snowflakes are liberals that want everything to be chocolate and vanilla. Try to keep up. The characters should be portrayed as close to the comics as possible. The need to make everything generic is based on some ideas that people are offended by the original concept. Everything doesn’t have to be changed just for the hell of it.

      1. RS

Snowflakes can be used as a term for anyone who whine because they don’t like change, not just for liberals. As for the change in race for the character, we don’t know what the reasoning is. So get off your high horse, have some patience and wait until we know.

      2. Clayton

Snowflakes are people that want everything to be chocolate and vanilla?
Oh, you mean like the people who are grown-ass adults but cry and whine if their cartoon characters look different than they did 40 years ago? Lol
Gtfo you snowflake incel clown ❄️🤡❄️

  7. Chip

What a waste! They should have recast him as Black Panther.

    1. Vivi

Uuh…no they shouldn’t. T’Challa needs not to be recasted thank you. As for Black Panther itself, I’d rather have the MCU bring back Erik, and let him take the mantle of BP.

  8. Kelly

Hey another bad movie by marvel where they think they have to cater to the masses which aren’t even the masses just the loudest some b.s. group. I’ve chosen to be very picky with what I watch anymore in this woke society.

  9. James

You guys are ridiculous! Here is an example bone of y’all complained about. 47 Ronin this story is taught In Japan every Japanese child knows it. The character Kai doesn’t even exist in it. Keanu Reeves character was created to give white people the savior role in it. All this complaining over a fictional character but white people whitewash themselves into legitimate history all the time. One more reminder Jesus isn’t white 😂

    1. Shandypants

Bro you do realise Keanu Reeves isn’t white, right?

      1. at

Keanu Reeves is partially white. His dad is a portion of English and Irish. So he’s a super water downed white.

        1. RS

Actually, his mother is English, originating from Essex. His American father is from Hawaii, and is of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, English, Irish, and Portuguese descent. His grandmother from his father’s side is Chinese Hawaiian. So in reality, he’s a quarter Chinese If you want to say he’s not white.

        He’s not Japanese, either.
        What’s your point?

  10. Dareshiranu

It’s apparent that the knowledge of the difference between adaptation and distortion has been lost in modern culture.

Perhaps we can look forward to a future remake of “All in the Family” with a successful Black Archie Bunker, a Trans Edith, and an android Meathead. No other central characters necessary see? Modern adaptation.

  11. Doug

The level of “look at me I’m better than you in these comments is sickening. Race swapping wouldn’t be an issue if the people doing it weren’t marketing the facts that they literally race swap characters. They are literally marketing Black Panther two as a black power movement. The same people all you hypocrites are defending, are literally preying off your sorry excuse for emotions. If anyone is a bigot, it’s those of you trying to defend Disney in anyway on this. It’s getting ridiculous in Hollywood. They’ve watered down actual stories because it’s more important to them to appear like they’re making tough statements. If we weren’t talking about race none of you would be arguing. If we had a 60 year old story of a cat, and Disney decided to bring that story to film, only they chose a dog to play the cat, you same people would be scratching your heads and asking why. Your white guilt, and attempt to seem like a more holier than thou person is laughable. The idea behind marvel cinema, was that there was this world of fans who would love to see a film about their beloved characters. No group of people are more sensitive about accuracy than comic book fans. Marvel aka Disney so a huge influx of outsiders viewing these films after the BLM movement pushed so hard to turn black Panther (which was a good enough film to start with) as some milestone for black America. And when they saw the amount of money they made off people because of that, they decided that day they would go out of their way to appeal to those types of people in future films. This is not a case of “we love his acting so much that we changed the main characters race in order to use him”. It’s more so that they figure if they toss out another black lead character that they will be able to capitalize on the amount of white guilt, and black power people. If you don’t see this, then you’re part of the problem. The point is, the real bigots, are the ones casting a black man to play a white character, because they know the controversy will spread like wildfire and basically promote their film for free. End rant.

    1. Suez

With his clown comment, I’d never use him again. Shows he’s ungrateful and arrogant and undeserving of any roles.

  12. ArtR

The MCU is using the Wonder Man from the Ultimates (Earth-1610) universe. They’ve cherry picked between Earth-616 and the Ultimates universe since the beginning. The MCU Nick Fury is also from the Ultimates universe as well as Captain America. Some Ultimates characters could not be used in the movies due to controversial storylines, most notably Hulk and Hank Pym (which is why they went with Scott Lang).

  13. Katra

If working for Disney or MCU is clown work then maybe Disney and MCU should find a worthy actor to play the parts including Black Manta.Because from what I have seen he isn’t worthy of Black Manta.

  14. David marfisi

All this talk about race and gender swapping from the comics forgot that in the comics Fury was White but nobody seems to be upset that he’s being played, rather well, by a talented African-American acto

  15. Kje76

It’s Wonder Man. There’s absolutely nothing about the character that requires him to be white. The only character physically tied to him is the Grim Reaper, and he hasn’t debuted yet.

The bizarre frothing at the mouth about the character’s race is just befuddling. If ever a character existed where it doesn’t matter, it’s Wonder Man.

  16. John Wayne

I “woke” up a long time ago. If a comic hero is 1 race he or she should never be characterized as someone of another race! It defeats the integrity of the story! I wonder what will happen when people don’t bother to watch it because of it’s casting? What’s next? Superman is an Arab who wears a dress and considers himself non binary? Just for the record there is no such thing! It’s called schizophrenia and it requires serious medical attention!

  17. Race Card

You mentioned “race swap” twice. Obviously you have issues with this. Tired of fans whining when comic books and movies have been race and gender swap for ages. When they race swapped white, it’s crickets for years. Now that it’s the other way, the whining is deafening. Grow some. If you don’t like it. Create your own multiverse.

  18. Tolas

It is to me – are you saying that to describe someone “as” some title they proudly embrace is equivalent to a personal declaration of agreement? That is ridiculous, and delusional. Get a grip, please.

  19. Harrold Wang

I for one can’t wait for Dave Bautista portrayal of Luke Cage and Jason Stratham cast as the new Black Panther. Should be great!
