Maybe, I am missing something but it appears that who ever is reading the book is illiterate. Refusing to not improvise a scene is not illiteracy. It is a sign of inability to improvise or a fear of going off the script. Her not know the lines and not being able to read the lines from the prompter when needed would be a sign of illiteracy. Further just because her character was not shown in scenes reading or writing does not show she is illiterate either. This is done by the writers. However if this was true most of the cast of Glee would be illterate using that bench mark as well as many others on other shows.
As far as her acting abilities, I think she is terrible and the spoiled little B girl is her real self and acting for that was not needed. Although this piece did let me know she is still around and not to get tickets to go and see “funny Girl” on Broadway when it opens.
Whether she is liked or not – her not wanting to improvise and never being seen reading or writing in public means little. She likely could have dyslexia which can make off the cuff reading and even writing difficult – my brother had it and reading, speaking or even writing in public would make him panic because if he spoke like how he read he would be considered illiterate.
