The reservation system (both for rides and the parks themselves) need to go away completely. If there isn’t enough capacity, reopen the offerings that are still closed and build new minor offerings, not everything needs to be or even should be an E ticket attraction. You need the smaller attractions, experiences, shows and such to spread out the crowds.

It looks like there is enough capacity now. All those prebooked trips (no refunds) and pent up lockdown demand gave them just enough rope to hang themselves. The parks are mostly empty these days.

@steve 🤔 the parks are mostly empty these days ??? How many times have you done in the recent year ???

        1. Steve

Have you checked out wait times on an average day since back to school? Exactly what everyone sane predicted is happening – Disney is undesirable now and the already booked vacations are running out.

You can always pay extra. That is what Disney wants. A return to the ticket books.

Paying extra doesn’t guarantee you’ll get to ride. It literally says that in the terms of LL and in this article you just replied on…

The virtual queue is annoying, but you can’t exactly complain about not getting to ride a ride that you didn’t reserve. Sounds like these people just walked up hoping to be let on, and are complaining because they didn’t get their way. A few weeks before Ratatouille opened to the general public, I was at the park with my daughter who was going into the military. They were allowing cast members to ride that day, there was a line. I asked if we could, explaining how we had to visit when we did because of my daughter leaving. I was told unfortunately, no. It never hurts to ask, but I think it’s unjustified to get upset if you’re turned down.

It should be noted that that 6pm virtual queue is a perk to deluxe resorts guests ONLY that get to stay extra hours. If every guest went up at 6 hoping to get on, the ones that paid for that perk by staying deluxe might not be able to get on. So people need to think of others. There’s a virtual queue at 7 and 1 for the general public. My husband and I are actually at the parks right now, did Epcot two days and were able to get virtual queue both times. I wonder if this complainer even tried to get virtual queue? I’ve heard from so many that it’s actually pretty easy to get. Way more so than Rise because of the motion sickness factor and because it’s at Epcot, Disney’s least popular park.

I can complain about it Cosmic, I paid on the gate to ride, this ridiculous reservation system and the electronic pay extra to ride is nothing short of a kick in the face from Greedy Disney. Make you pay twice for the same thing…

They have become more than greedy and this is a big fat con.

I’m not saying it’s not all annoying, it definitely is. Genie, (and using virtual queue to get people to purchase genie) is greedy, for sure. But reservations and virtual queues are in place, sadly. So if folks don’t like it, maybe don’t go? Protest with your wallet. Don’t spend money on a Disney vacation, and then get mad when things don’t work out because you don’t want to follow the rules once there. So no, you don’t get to complain if you chose to visit.

This level of simping for a company is pathetic.

Cosmic – I do follow the rules yes, but I don’t have to like them and Yes I have a right to complain, afteral its my money and time Disney want to take. I do not blindly accept it seems like some other people are happy to do…

      2. Mike

You don’t pay extra for a virtual queue

I have tried to get a boarding group at 6 pm. It goes in 4 seconds! Cast members have told me it is nearly impossible to get, but many do. Unfortunately even though I stayed deluxe, I couldn’t ride it, either.

Go to Universal next time. They don’t even allow paid line cutting at their newest rides.

I can’t see why you would say you can’t complain, disney invest money in new rides with new technology to keep people’s interest in coming to the park then charge 20% more for a ticket, then remove benefits (fast pass, extra magic hours for everyone stopping on site, dining plan etc.) Then add paid lightning Lane and individual LL. All of which potentially doubles the cost of your magical day then introduces a lottery system to ride the new rides you’ve heamorrhaged money for so you may not even get to experience it. I think it’s a sad day, look at the app’s homepage it’s full of extras you can pay for, I’ve enjoyed disney for 30 years, I was there the weeks around last labor day weekend, the park seems so far removed from Walt disney’s original idea for people it’s getting unrecognisable. It’s a business and there to make money and it’s always made a lot of money but in the past you always felt you were getting the best holiday you could for what you paid, now you feel at every turn you need to spend more money. So complain, voice your opinion, or just stop going and where will that leave the disney fanatics?

My wife and I rode it last week using the Q, I didn’t see a problem with any of it and I wear a Grumpy magic band and I’m old. Just use your time wisely.
